- Here's a quick overview of my editing systems, what programs I use and other tech nerd stuff people keep asking for.
I don't care if your computer is faster than mine. Lol. There are more important things in life.
My custom built computers are by www.titancomputers.com ( I get nothing for saying this). I also have several Alienware Area 51 computers, some HP, and a bunch of Macs for graphics. Also a shout out to Newtek for years of wonderful editing with Speededit.

I use Mac and PC also. I think they each have pros and cons so having both is great.

The three d work was awesome. Carrara is an Italian marble used in statues. You and Michelangelo using Carrara checks out.
I never thought of that. Yeah, marble is used for carving, my god after 20 years I finally get the name connection!

I know NewTek from the famous NewTek Demo Reel 01 for the Amiga a millennium ago. They made a multi media demo with short video parts, pictures, sound, speech and Music "Paranoimia" by Art of Noise. It was distributed/shared/copied on floppy-disc and somewhere between mind blowing and live changing at that time.

I am working on PCs since 40 years and I experienced the same: From time to time there get software released which "dies out" but leaves a gap because other products don't feel the same or don't cover exactly what this defunct software did. I always try to keep these programs alive (sometimes with ancient hardware like your G4 Mac) as long as possible. The disadvantage is, I have now a computer museum at home.
I had a Video Toaster system back in 1990. Back when NewTek was in Topeka, Kansas. I just used it for my Wedding Videos back then.

As a Linux user I'm on a completely different train as far as photo/video editing goes. Not that smooth of a train to be fair, but still…
But as an old hardware resuscitator geek, I completely agree with your "good is whatever does a good job" philosophy!

A humble man with a big heart
That old G4 is cool. I used to work for Dell when they started the Ent Server Group (sometime around 1997) and we had our datacenter hallway full of G4's, ding rev engineering/analysis of the mechanical/elect design.
Markus is really a humble genius! I think his tough childhood made him grounded and humble despite his immense talent!
I like that you had a Video Toaster! I had those as well as the Newtek Toaster/Flyer non-linear editing system. Your setup is amazing! Keep cranking out these videos!

I must say, I'm not into studio tour videos and all. But your tour you did some time ago, is just next level. My dream studio. And now, also enjoyed this one with the computers. Cool stuff. Until a few months ago, I only had a macbook from 2012 heheh

Awesome setup! Thanks for sharing 😀 I like building PC desktops too. I built my wife a tricked out desktop for her home office, we like using MacBook laptops for portability.

Cooling is everything. I aim a small deco period (well it looks deco but probably 50's) Vornardo fan at the back of my old Imac (10.6.11) all the time. No funds for new gear anymore. But then, all my software is paid for, and my ITunes doesn't owe any favors either. I completed a short noir film only using CS 4 P.S. extended for hand made fades and effects and it's animation timeline and edited by opening sections in various QuickTime windows and pasting back and forth. With 8 megs ram. It was still good enough to draw the attention of the CEO of Village Road Show back then, when he restarted his First Rites channel in digital form. Hey, it's raining....

I'm retired now and Loving life, and in college and I am my 3rd semester 2 more to go then I graduate in October 20th I have so many ideas because of your videos! Bravo! For your Ethernet connections you may want to consider going to a multigig switch and adapters. Even on older CAT5e you should be able to get 2.5Gbps up to 5Gigabit. For 10 gig over RJ45 you'll need at least CAT6 to have a stable connection. I have a few videos I've made on this so feel free to ask any questions and I'll respond.

OMG!!! A TriCaster Mini!!!! WAAAAYYYY ahead of its time.
I do all my 3D and 4K live streaming in a $300 computer. Know your gears and you can do amazing things. Yep, I used all those software Marcus, good old days! Don’t sale or give away… nostalgia

Awesome stuff, Markus! I love how you're using literally a super-budget $30 set of computer speakers on that editing beast-- the Logitech Z313's, or at least that's what it looks like!
They're awesome! I have two sets of thousand dollar pro monitors and I hate them. They are in my giveaway pile
My computer is connected to my stereo, with a pair of 3' tall Sansui speakers and a pair of 3' tall Jensen speakers, both of which I bought about 40 years ago. But they all still sound awesome.

Video Toaster.
A lot of folks will say, what the heck are they talking about…
I started out editing in house commercials on these. What a challenge that was, linear editing.
Then I had my first computer built and certified by Dell and Adobe Premier. It was good when it worked but crashed a lot.
I enjoy watching your videos, especially the reviews on all your gear and giveaways.
Keep on bringing out these wonderful videos. You are much appreciated by all who subscribe.
