  • A Tier List of the Jobs in Final Fantasy 5 in the context of a Four Job Fiesta Run. Tier list is based off of my own experience with the game. Let me know if you agree/disagree with any of the placements in the comments. The tiers are as follows:
    S tier - The broken/do everything/win the game by themselves classes
    A tier - The classes that you are always happy to have around/are useful most of the time
    B tier - The classes that are strong in the right situations/with the right set up
    C tier - The classes that do things worse that other classes/you would rather have something else
    D tier - The GBA classes that I am not familiar with

    I think you're underrating Summoner. they're an S-tier job IMO. Two things that put them over the top for me is that 1: Golem and Carbuncle trivialize a lot of fights, including world 2 Exdeath, which is otherwise one of the hardest bosses in the entire game. 2: Since almost everyone can wield Knives that means almost every other party member can use a rod-boosted Syldra/Hydra in world 3, which is fairly cheap and does the same damage as a Flare that ignores reflect. Meaning if you have a Summoner and a bunch of low-tier jobs like thief,dragoon and geomancer they will now all be as effective damage dealers as a party of four summoners.
    Another thing: your black mage should never be using Flare. rod-boosted -aga spells deal more damage, can exploit weaknesses, cost less MP and can multitarget

    • @frozenspade
      @frozenspade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Some good points here. While I would disagree on how many fights Golem and Carbunkle can trivialize, it is a nice benefit that by having summoner you can turn almost any other job into a damage machine. I would love to get summoner in an upcoming Fiesta run to try this out for myself. Also you are absolutely right about the Black Mage, don't know why that slipped my mind when I made this video. If I were to remake my tierlist I would probably add another tier in-between S and A and would likely place Summoner in there.

      I was going to say this too, summoner can win fiestas singlehandedly for me, really strong magic on the whole party (if needed), golem+carbuncle defense, phoenix to res someone with full MP (so those high MP costs don't matter quite as much), it really has everything you could want :)

    • @andrewmiller5690
      @andrewmiller5690 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Seconded. I could solo the game with a summoner in all likelihood. Consistently the highest damage output with minimal setup, and minor hassle acquiring spells. Golem and carbuncle are a bigger deal than acknowledged.

      To be fair, World 2 Exdeath can also be trivialized by reflect ring grinding in barrier tower from reflect knights. That's also how you can cheese the magic tower if you don't have any casters

    I dunno about putting Samurai in S-tier not because Samurai isn't good, but mostly cause Blue Mage and Chemist are just crazy-go-nuts compared to EVERY other job's Fiesta utility. Blue Mage and Chemist are far and above not just because of the "dirty tricks" like level manipulation they can do, but the sheer amount of stuff they can do in exchange for a bit of game knowledge means EVERY bit of FF5 content is available to them (superbosses, optional bosses like Omniscient). You roll Blue Mage and/or Chemist (I rolled BOTH on my first Fiesta, lol) and you guarantee yourself one of the smoothest possible rides under Fiesta rules.
    By that same token, I feel it's unfair to the C-tier jobs to share a tier with Berserker simply because you can actually control their in-battle actions, which will almost ALWAYS make them more valuable than a Berserker. And granted, Berserkers aren't that bad under Fiesta rules since you can build to compensate for them. But still, I think it'd be fairer to bump Berserker down a tier or put them DEAD LAST in the tier order.
    The game version also affects how burdensome Berserkers can be; they're slightly better in the mobile (ick, I know) versions because they focus fire on the first front-row enemy instead of attacking completely arbitrarily. Still not great, but easier to plan around, at least.

    Only thing I disagree with is Blue mage should have been in A teir, and summoner in S teir. (33 magic transfer) Planning to do a 4 job Fiesta myself later this year! And I didn't know about the knight's sword transfer with strength. That's very useful to know. Good video!

      I have been thinking about this comment, and considering whether or not my personal love of the Blue Mage made me rank it higher than I should have. Then I was looking into it again, and there are only a few bosses that CAN'T be cheesed or at least nerfed. It does take some work, but I find it very fun. Anyways the fiesta has just started up this year, and I got a Blue Mage as my starter job. I will be abusing the Blue Mage Job as much as I can this year in your honor. The Summoner does a lot of damage for sure, but doesn't completely trivialize SO many fights like the blue mage can. Just my two cents.

    great vid! i have a few opinions that differ from yours, first being that - like other commenters - i think you're underselling Summoner a lot, but i won't just repeat what they've said. instead, i'll mention something a bit more controversial:
    Berserker is actually great for Four Job Fiesta! ...wwwelllllll assuming you only have to use ONE of them, any more than one and it gets understandably quite challenging. so here's a few tips on what to do when you're saddled with one of these powerhouses!
    1: Kill your berserker before going into battle with the Sandworm! Seriously. Just have your other characters beat him up before that fight.
    2: Get you a death sickle! Random encounters outside of Crescent drop them. If you're unlucky enough to be stuck with multiple Zerkers, get as many as you need. Double up if you're lucky enough to also have ninja!
    3: Think about what passive Ability you want for your Zerker from the options you have. Two-Handed, Dual Wield, and Counter are all solid options. EquipRibbon can be fucking hilarious with a Dancing Knife Zerker and the right loadout. Any of the Equip(weapon) skills can be a decent pick too, if you've got particularly nasty weapons available. And as for a less obvious pick....
    4: If you've got a caster such as Summoner or Black Mage as one of your classes, max that out with a character and then stick Summon or Black Magic or whatever on the Zerker as their ability, and equip the Rune Axe. Laugh as you deal obscenely high damage.
    I have done a run with two Zerkers, Bard, and Summoner, which was a very fun, very challenging fiesta. So if you roll a berserker or even two of 'em, don't fear - you have an absolute POWERHOUSE on your team!!

    • @AyuNico
      @AyuNico 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that this is precisely the problem with Berserker, the fact that you have to kill your own team member before attempting to progress through battles that require you to think instead of simply unga bunga means that the job is very underwhelming. Also most of the combos you mention are cool, but they can also be used by most other jobs in that regard! Almost every job gets a broken weapon like Death Sickle, almost every job benefits amazingly from passive abilities, there are other jobs that have weapons that use magic power for damage calculation. There's a reason why the four job fiesta includes an option to exclude mime and berserker from the generator, the first because it's incredibly broken to the point it trivializes the challenge (Even with only 3 jobs to boost it) and the last because it's incredibly terrible.

      @michaelhgravesjr9608 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes and no. There's "stronger than others", then there's "so vastly overpowered/loaded with utility comparatively that you can just cheese effectively the entire game if you know what you are doing even a little bit." Blue Mage and Chemist definitely fall into that latter category; it's not even that hard to beat special bosses with one or the other SOLO and NATURAL, nevermind with a team to back them up or the advantage of other skills. In short: some classes are good, some are broken.

    Honestly the only one I really disagree with is Time Mage, which at LEAST deserves 'A' tier IMO. See, what a Time Mage is, is a force multiplier/nullifier. Namely via manipulating time, both on yourself and on enemies.
    Slow is a shockingly useful spell, that can affect a very large number of enemies throughout the ENTIRE game. Regular foes and bosses alike in fact. Is it perfect? Nope, but any enemy you can slow while keeping yourself sped up, means you'll take less damage, need to heal less, and have more room to attack in return. Now it's status magic is a lot more niche, as in Mute, Stop, Old, and Gravity magic. A lot more stuff resists/is immune to those, so they'll see far less use, although Old can have some surprisingly strong effects in a few instances.
    Comet and Meteor. Comet is actually shockingly useful in the mid-game. It's decent damage, even for a non-magic user (as the damage does not factor in your stats, only a random number and the enemy's magic defense), and it's very cheap to cast, allowing for good magic damage without spending tons of MP. But that's all it stops at, just 'decent'. Meteor is less useful, simply because the sheer cost isn't effective for the damage you get (although it also does not take into account your stats, working the same as Comet in that respect). It's best use is more if you lack offensive magic due to the jobs you pulled in a FJF.
    Now the real magic...is Quick. Is it expensive? Yes. But it lets you take any job, any ability, any skill...and do it twice. Hell, as long as you have MP, you can *keep* doing it just by recasting Quick every other chained turn you give yourself. You DO only get it in the late game, that is true, not denying it, HOWEVER, by that point, you've been collecting all the good items anyways, so the idea of 'saving the good stuff' shouldn't matter. You can cheese a boss so hard that they never even get a TURN the whole fight. There isn't any one single 'use' for it, it's mostly meant as an expensive way to do whatever you're looking for, more often. It varies as such depending on what combos you have access too, but if I had to pick anything, it's best use is as a 'set up' type of skill, where you cast Quick, then use your two turns as a means of buffing either yourself or the party.
    Of course the combinations and use grow exponentially if you can use a Freelancer or Mime, as without the ability to equip 2/3 skills, you are much more finite in what Quick can provide (although it's still a useful tool).
    In short, a Time Mage can take what could be an otherwise very difficult FJF run, and make it go far, far more smoothly than you might think

  • @ImFangzBro

    Impeccable taste. Blue Mage is the BEST Wind job. It can heal, it can dish out pain, it's pretty sturdy for a mage, and it can even AP train the other classes by killing Skull Eaters.

    • @simondiamond9628
      @simondiamond9628 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm personally more of a fan of using the Geomancer's Gaia ability in order to farm Skull Eaters at Jachol Cave.
      I've found that Ignuus Fatuus, Wind Slash, and Stalactite are all fantastic against them, with Wind Slash and Stalactite being the two best abilities among them.
      Gaia/Terrain is great for grinding ABP.

    • @ImFangzBro
      @ImFangzBro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @simondiamond9628 This is fair, but I never claimed it was the best at that. I said it COULD do that. The method with which it does that, the Balance spell, has ups and downs over the method of your choice- so I'm not gonna claim it's better. However, I will stand by my claim that it's the best of the Wind Crystal jobs- because none of the other jobs you get from that are that versatile, you can master it quicker than any other Wind Crystal job, and that means you can master the others faster.

    Man, everybody in here complaining about summoner, but I think you're sleeping on Time Made and Mystic Knight. Though, MK is situational, if you also get ranger, !RapidFire proc the element every time. it can MELT things. Time Mage because slow works on like...so much. Making your whole party go twice as half and the enemy half as fast is amazing. Comet and Meteor do great damage, it can snap rods early on too. Time mage deserves at least A Tier and Mystic...I mean at least the very top of B Tier.
    Sleeping on Zerker too but that was explained in great detail in another comment.
    Also think you've overvalued Monk and Thief. Monk turns into a glorified itembot at best by the end. Thief just...doesn't have much to it. Unless you're throwing everything at mugging with chicken knife. Geomancer should be...like...down in F Tier. It's as bad as Blue is good. I mean, you get the ONE grind spot that is OKAY.

      Monk is insane + Chemist since they do level * level dmg, but in 4-job fiesta its very un-often you would get it. Bard Hero Song + Monk is only late game. Early game they do good damage though. One thing you could do is to kill your other characters and try to level up your Monks by themselves so that they can do lots of damage as your level goes up.

    Time Mage is S-tier, can break rods, can heal using healing rod, Quick, Haste, can cost slow on bosses...
    Trainer is good at killing bosses, but is bad at normal but you don't need to fight normal battles you can just abuse Shield dragons, red dragons, prototypes, etc..., with control so I would put them higher.
    Thief I would put lower, their agility allows them to get more turns to attack enemies but they do little damage. They are good if you randomly get an ability that is good at fighting enemy mobs.
