I'm gonna have to disagree hard on Richter looking better than Simon aesthetically. Simon actually looks like the kind of guy who would go hunt down a vampire in Eastern Europe; Richter looks like a generic JRPG protagonist. If I didn't know he was from Castlevania, I'd guess he was another Fire Emblem character.

Castlevania actually was partially inspired by Jojo's part 1. You can even get the item stone mask if you try hard enough. There also several phantom blood references with items and interactions!

Not the original Castlevania's no. But the later iterations have several tie ins. We have bosses like Zephyr and a few common story elements. However the semblances are usually in the Koji Igarashi directed ones.

True, but Super Castlevania 4 came out on October 31 of 1991 while Symphony of the Night came out on March 20 of 1997, 6 years after the release of Super Castlevania 4. The move originated from Simon and is more of throw back toward Simon than Richter.

Simon and Richter being Caesar Zeppeli and Joseph Jostar kinda works for how Alpha plays them.
Simon/Caesar almost never fights, and he always loses.
Richter/Joseph always ends up fighting with ass-pull bullshit and always wins, even if they have the same tools at their disposal as Simon/Caesar.
