  • Watering your garden can be tricky. Leaving your garden at the mercy of the weather can be detrimental. Unless the weather says 100% chance and it's dark as all get out, I'm gonna water. I almost lost all of my transplants this weekend relying on my weather app. South Louisiana sun and heat are completely unforgiving and my zone 9 backyard garden needs A LOT of water to thrive. If everything is looking dry and you feel like your garden might need watering, I'd say just do it! Your plants will thank you. :)

Love that tip! Next time there’s a front passing through or thunderstorms around watch the radar 90% of the time it will go around Thibodaux. I call it the dome effect. So I too am like your friend I water even if it’s sprinkling. 😂

That’s crazy. I remember once year when it rained every day for 15-20 minutes in Lafayette and I maybe watered my garden 5 times the whole year. It was so lush and vibrant. I literally planted it and did some tending once a week and it just thrived. I tried to convince everyone to start a garden. The next year was bone dry forever and I could just about hear those people cursing me. 🤣🤣 Crazy how every year is so different.

The weather in South Louisiana really is so spotty. This has happened to me before and they can shrivel up so fast.

Yep. It happens fast! Especially in the summer.

And this is south Louisiana, It’s got me more times than I want to admit.

@@rogerdalesimon Same. I've gone on trips and not asked anyone to go buy and water because it was supposed to "rain all weekend." Not a single drop the entire time and everything was crispy when I got home. I was so frustrated. You got everything planted already?

@@rogerdalesimon I'm still baffled at the nights in the 50s that we are having. It has been a long time since the nights have been this cold in late April. How is your garden growing this year?

& then there's the question, is it going to rain or is it going to RAIN!
Glad I'm not the only one standing out watering my plants while getting sprinkled on. 😂

Exactly. Are we talking sideways tropical storm rain or just a light shower to make everything humid and unbearable? This is the question.

Unfortunately sometimes the rain moves right around my property or more times than not, never comes when predicted at all in our area.

I just need a good soaking rain twice a week and only on weekdays so I can work in the garden on weekends. It's not that much to ask for. ha!
