For those of you commenting this car is slow, it's perfectly adequate for day to day driving. Sure it's not fast it's 1.6 diesel but hey it's built for economy. They're a nice car with ample power.
I bought myself this car last week, but 5 door in red! great engine and just a nice place to be in. Couldn't fault this car at all and for a 1.6.. pretty nippy! Great on fuel too. Do wish it was abit louder. Doesn't sound as aggressive as it probably should, or at all
Those averages of 4l/100 are really impressive, even in city I make like 4,6/4,7 with not that much effort. At 120 km/h I make 4l or something like that.
I have a manual 1.6 and it launches and accelerates so much nicer when you build up the revs, never driven an automatic, can you not get the revs higher when driving? This one seems very sluggish accelerating compared to mine
No, since posting I drove one for 6 weeks (well, a Golf Sportsvan with the same drivetrain) and it's exactly the same there. From about 100kph on, nothing happens.
Look at the partitioning. if you drive 80 km/h (this car starts with 4th gear at 80) or faster you have 10kmh each line at speedometer. Its not the wind loool

It is very fast actually, at least for me when i push it (manual version).

Diesels are designed to have better low down torque and acceleration, so I don’t see why you’d want to rev it much higher
I so agree...that car at 4000 rpm or more is crazy at accelaration. And the RPM rise so quick.

It's strange. The moment it hits 4th gear, it stops accelerating. Lovely though how smooth the gearbox is.

We Ka ja sehr laut, ich glaube das is es wegen kleine motor mit starke turbo. naja hört fast wie ein sportwagen mit diesel :D

(every)Speedmeter lies and show for 15-20+km more on max speeds!! real speed is about 200km or less with that engine!!
