    As a life long resident, I can confidently tell you, only annoying transplants call it "the 'couve".

    At around 1:55 you start talking about tax benefits. I live in Vancouver and worked in Hillsboro for about three years and had to pay income tax for Oregon and file as a Non-resident. I now work for a remote company so no more Oregon income tax.

      There's only the dispensary on mill plain by the Safeway called "New Vansterdam"
      Other than that, I haven't heard that term in the 11 years I've been here.

    Vancouver is super bike friendly, but the closest mountain bike trails are out in Camas, WA. There are no single track MTB trails in Vancouver.

    Nobody calls it the Couve. It’s the same as only tourists calling California “Cali” and calling San Francisco “Frisco” or “San Fran.” :-)

      Jennifer Coburn having lived in the city for 20 years before moving here, I can tell you first hand that no one calls it either of those except for people who don’t live there. All good though. Just is what it is.

      Born and raised in California for 30 years and I cringe EVERY time I hear "Cali" or "San Fran" from visitors. Never known anyone who's lived here to call it that lol

      Nope. We use “NorCal or SoCal” down here in OC. San Fran is used by the older adults down here, but we just say San Francisco.

    No income tax only applies if you actually work in Washington. If you work in Portland, you pay income tax.

    It is not called The couve, it is called Vancouver, and long residence always call it Vancouver. Just like Portland across the river is not called p-town but Portland

    He left out the fact that The Couve has the largest Russian population except for New York and San Francisco.
    I was researching the city when covering a news story 15 years ago. And not only the fact that the city has an amazing history stretching all the way back to the mid-1800's, but also the fact I mentioned earlier. And I also wonder if they have Lyft/Uber drivers up there. It would certainly be great to be able to pay almost nothing for a short ride from PDX to the Couve (and/or back the other way around when necessary). It sure saves time and money than having to deal with other forms of transportation when you're in a hurry.

    I have lived in Vancouver all my life. Maybe this is just a “younger generation” thing, but my friends and I ALWAYS have called it the couve and called Portland p town. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

    Do NOT move to Vancouver for is terrible! The people there are very isolated and do not like each other.
    And no there is a shitty music scene there! Also the Jail there is one of the worst jails in the country look up Clark county jail it’s so bad. I’ve only been a few times myself for dumb shit I did as a kid but god is it scary.
