How to change the dash panel on Abarth 595/695 or Fiat 500

  • In this video I change the standard dash panel for a carbon fibre wrapped version that I bought off a fellow Abarthisti. I'd put the job off for ages as I was dreading it. But in reality, how hard can it be and what could possibly go wrong?

Hey, I've just removed the dash panel on my Mexican-built MY2016 500e (exclusive to California and Oregon) since I'm having it repainted in body colour. Following your tutorial, it worked like a charm - thanks a lot for this very helpful video! Funny enough, mine didn't have the third screw above the glove box even though it's a "facelift" model with integrated satnav - probably cost-cutting measures since the late Fiat boss once claimed he'd lose USD 15k with every of these compliance cars sold 😅😉 Cheers from Switzerland!

Thanks for the kind comment, glad the video was helpful. I’ve only ever seen your car on TH-cam, guess yours must be one of very few in Europe.

Super Carbon dash - so easy . Where can you buy these upgrades ? I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 so will have to source from offshore?

Thanks for watching! I was surprised how straightforward the job was. I don’t know where you might source a carbon dash panel in Aus, if you’re feeling brave you could get a Fiat 500 dash panel from a breakers* and wrap it in something like 3M carbon wrap (the dash I put on was a carbon wrap) or there might be a hydro dipping firm that would be able to make it carbon look or something else to your taste.
      * suggested getting another dash just in case it goes wrong, that way you haven’t screwed up the only dash panels you have 🤣

Thanks for the video. Been considering doing some work on mine, and it’s helpful to see how it comes apart.
Also, I think this is the first time I’ve seen a the glovebox open on a RHD car. It tripped me out much more than I would have expected.

I don’t know where to get the torx tool from what one would u recommend

I can’t remember where I got the one I used in the film from, but if you look on Amazon for “torx screwdriver sets” there seems to be a wide choice. There is one there by Stanley, £8.99, which would look to be a good choice. Good luck and I hope the film helped!

I'm with you on the grey dash. Not a fan of the silver dash in my TwinAir 105 in all honesty. Our other one has body coloured dash which looks brilliant but I think I may be tempted by a carbon dash.
I've had to remove the small piece next to the wheel before for another job but not removed a fill one yet. Should be pretty straight forward.

I did toy with body coloured as I had that on my Lounge and liked it. But the dash in the film became available while I was deliberating and ended up being cheaper than buying a second-hand dash and getting it dipped or painted. If it had come with body coloured I’d have left it, but for some reason the standard grey with textured surface looked out of place to me.

I have honestly been looking for a bit to find a decent video on how to take apart the inside trim. Thanks so much for the video and your instructions!

Awesome. Thanks for the insight as we are going to do the same thing. Do you know if its a Fiat 500 dash trim that you fitted as trying to work out of a Fiat 500 dash trim would fit our Abarth 2018 Turismo is a minefield. If you know or any of your followers know that would be great. There is a red one on Ebay which would be great but not knowing of a Fiat 500 dash trim would fit is putting me off getting it.

Hi Ninja Wacker. Thanks for the kind comment! As far as I know it is the same dash as the Fiat 500, I’m away until the end of August so will look at the part number on the one I took off and post it here in the comments. Someone else might know for sure, are you on the Facebook Abarth Owners Group? If so, it might be worth posting the question there if you need to know before the end of August. Best regards WolfiesWheels
