You pointed out the concerns I would have with this kind of FC. I think a positive example would be Preach's FC that exists on it's own and Preach is effectively just a member. Perhaps it's best if streamers are just in the background of a FC.

While I've never been in a streamer FC, a fairly popular streamer once joined the FC I'm a member of and it was really weird how the attitudes of some of the members shifted once they realized they were talking to someone relatively famous. Not all of them, but a good chunk of them devoted all of their attention to the streamer and wanted to follow them everywhere they went and were always offering them help with content, planning surprise parties for them for their birthday and just any other excuse to hang around them (while ignoring birthdays of other members.) Eventually some of them got wrapped up in sort of a love triangle with the streamer and they stopped hanging around the FC, along with the other two members involved with the love triangle, and things went back to normal.
Moral of the story is that people get very weird when they think they can glean fame from someone, but they need to remember that just because someone has a following doesn't take away from the fact that behind that following is just another regular person trying to play a game.

It's a mixed bag as mentioned. As long as people help each other even when the streamer is offline, that's the best outcome. I'm part of a 'streamer' FC community, but the actual streamer isn't the leader. It's led by an actual player and other veteran players of the game. People help each other when they can, so I have to be thankful this community is pretty chill. While it's 'dead' during the day (cause you know...working people), at night it usually picks up and it's a fun time. Most of the people in this streamer FC are great and I appreciate them all.
pro tip: dont befriend streamers LOL. people always want the most unavailable people to be their friends

NGL playing any mmo with a streamer can be a very bad time for a lot of reasons, bad attitudes and ego being what often leads to the rest of the iusses.
The ego of streamers are unreal. Not fun to play with imo

Oh my god, this happened to me once too. I joined a fc and the fc leader was actually a DJ streamer in ffxiv. We talked alot throughout the weeks but the FC was always inactive until fc lead came online.
I think the most awkward situations I was in was when he invited me to tmaps and he invited other people outside of the fc to join. They were only talking to him and not each other. So I invited my friend to not feel left out. We had a few runs and he said to leave to crystal for a collaboration. Let me tell you, after he left, it was so fucking quiet LMAO… me and my friend had to lead it, but the chat was crickets noises😭😭

I remember when I was in a youtubers/streamers FC. Was on Tonberry ( good times) but the latency was murder at times since I was east coast. So was thinking of going back to NA and a youtuber I watched promoted his FC in his channel looking for tanks. Was a win win for me.
Joined it and I did have fun at first but learned fast that a FC of fans will not do much of anything unless he was on. Sprouts asking for help, no one answered. AFK, and only chatting in discord. But once he was on, then suddenly XIV chat was active.
Ended up leaving and a few months later, saw members of the fc in other fcs. Apparently they met up at a convention and no one got along when they met in real life.
Yay, finals are over and now i get to see a video from ya! The two catbois and the bunboi is so cute! Lol, i got distracted by the naked cstboi😊
I'm in a small streamer FC, but it's all made up of his community's alts for the most part lol So it's always dead even when he is online. But his discord always has people chatting and we all will help each other and stuff, so I think it's a good example of a successful community. I don't know if it will stay that way as he grows, though. Hopefully it will.
I hate that I know who this is just on the server alone lol and I don't watch the streamer or ever joined it.
As someone who was in 2 streamer fcs definitely avoid. I've had streamers tell me to "stop talking to my friends" and get into another argument with another member for "copying" her because they were working on a crafter mentor crown.
idk if they were really friends with Lucy I feel like there would have been more said and Lucy wouldn't have been so upset. It's a blindside and happens in FC's way to often lol.
I got invited randomly on new gridania to a random streamer FC (didn’t knew that existed until I got invited), not a lot of people talked until the streamer logged in and everyone was so happy that she was going to login and etc. I didn’t knew the vtuber streamer so I just left like 2 weeks after, I guess this is a thing on ffxiv lol.
the server i play on nowadays, I originally joined because of a parasocial fc. I just wanted friends to play with and always had a hard time making them and honestly it was fun while it lasted. I even got a ldr out of it, though that eventually ended. Eventually the streamer stopped playing, after the savage static fell apart during first tier omega and some drama as well. So the whole fc eventually disappeared. I moved on and I've made so many friends in xiv since then and did not make the same mistake of joining a streamers fc
I originally was in an FC on Light Zodiark probably from the start of my journey to early 2022, the FC went really downhill and inactive and I wanted a more active FC, I shortly discovered a streamer thanks to a FFXIV streamer highlights video, I had been hanging out in the stream for a couple of weeks until I made the decision to transfer and join their FC, I haven't really been in a streamer FC before but it was pretty active, of course, most of the activity spike was when the streamer was streaming.
Things were actually going really well and I actually made a bunch of great friends and we actually played together even when the streamer wasn't live or on FFXIV.
The streamer ended up quitting streaming and pretty much quit FFXIV, I think they were likely burned out.
But the FC died pretty much, it's impossible for it to continue without the streamer as so much that did join the FC was only there for the streamer, which makes sense.
Well some stuff went down and some ended up leaving the FC and making a new FC, which my alt is currently in.
As I had already moved my main character back to Zodiark the FC that I had been in from the start of my journey was once active again!
But will definitely say, the whole streamer FC thing really didn't work that well, especially if the streamer isn't consistent with it, which I can understand they didn't want to just only play FFXIV.
I will say it really is sad when something awesome ends up dying out, I honestly think a streamer who doesn't consider themselves a FFXIV streamer, so like how you get WoW streamers if the streamer isn't really consistent their FC/guild ends up dying out.
This one I somewhat relate to a bit, so felt like had to share that, this is just a small fraction of what went down, the lack of communication hits the nail on the head
personally... op sounded sus to me. drama like this is gonna happen streamer fc or not... i've seen it happen in a lot of fc im in.. 1 person breaks off to do their own thing and a massive group follow ... no communication.. a good chuck take stuff from the fc chest as well cuz they was an officer then there ends up a war between fc like petty high school drama... all because ppl don't talk.
Streamer fcs are drama. I remember my bad experience as well. I can feel for this story. Lol same thing happened at my old streamers FC lmao and they only wanted to respond with the streamers and the people were toxic with others and no one wanted to help each other. Too much drama that happened

Wait so OP just gave his title to another player without talking to Lucy first? I know I wouldn't like that as a FC leader. What if I wanted to give that to someone else? And also puts that person in an awkward position of being viewed as not a real FC co-lead.
I feel like just leaving, promiting someone they wanted and then sending a message was a bad way of handling it. They should have talked about it way before and not just left and sent a message. I understand Lucy being hurt and maybe feeling like she was being tossed aside for something new and shiny.
Although if that felt like the only way to do it then I would argue you don't want to be friends anymore because then there must have been issues of communication before. If it feels like you need to make it as harsh of a line before you even say something it wasn't a very good friendship to begin with.

I don't think it's possible to have everyone like/love everyone. There's bound to be conflict within a community or a group because that's how humans are. A slight miscommunication sparks flames for drama to happen. I still run my own FC, but with lesser people. I'm a super casual player that lets my members do fuck all in the FC as long as they are being nice to one another, but drama still happens because of miscommunication (either with the FC raid group, or their own couple quarrels). It's impossible to make everyone happy, and I've just come to accept that over the years.
I still let my members do anything and everything they want though. I'm just an FC master that designs the house and members' houses.
Streamer FC is perfect if as a leader you want finesse your fans for items ^^

This could all have been avoided if they talked about it like they say communication is key, I have been on two fcs from streamers the first one was really nice although it was only active when the streamer was on and the second one was a disappointing experience tbh
when you're a streamer you are no different from a regular player.
Op didn't need to poach her FC mates however that was pretty trashy.
Just because your friend started ignoring you does not give you the right for scum behavior.
people are people and your friends usually ask for your availability just because you start streaming and get a following does not elevate you out of being available to your friends.
Had a friend that started ghosting me because he latched on to an RP club he was free quite a bit of the week but then suddenly filled his schedule, thought that I would give him a fight to hang out with him I asked him a few times, he was not free so I left it at that, we're no longer close friends and he is sad about it, like my guy it was on you to make time and you did not.
In WoW, there is a Streamer only guild with other guilds having streamers in it...
Though the later is inevitable, the prior would find similar issues.
In this case, different discord, yes. Same FC, shouldnt be too big an issue as op is an officer. HOWEVER, once a house is obtained... the real pain will start.

honestly the better thing to do iscall the folks out.. say this isn't a fan following fc but a fc community im starting... help each other out not just you.. if you say it politely, they should listen if not then kick ppl out true fans and friends would listen and not to that..
Hearing lucy in refernce to FFxIV streamer keeps making me thinknof lucy pyre and i know that isnt her but that can be hella misleading
I think there’s some of you who think that only cause I definitely didn’t. Lucy is a very common name though if it was Lucy pyre it would be her full name ‘Lucy pyre’ and not just Lucy and she hasn’t touched ff14 in what has felt like a year I think?
@@pathraI don't think it was her. I know she wa playing the game before streaming so this story doesn't line up. It was just something that immediately came to head when I heard , stream/FFXIV/Lucy all together which just happened to line up as she did start with pokemon and FFXIV content.

You have a friend who opened the shop. Since you are very close to this friend you decided to volunteered to work there.
Your friend was decently known in this industry and many customer come to this store.
However this friends store was often closed and customers were often desatisfied .
You decided to open the store right next to this friend to satisfy? the customer. You told customers "You do not have to go to my store ".
Your friend found out you opened the same business right next to him/her.
If you aknowledge streaming as a actual business (which it is) story sound much different.
