You know I'm gonna keep saying it until it happens, and completely ignoring the fact that you are a human too (I think) and have many other things and videos to be doing, but tubeless drilled wheels! Seriously though. Love the videos as always. You creativity and humour adds some real flavour to these build vids.
The longevity of the Magura HS33 is really impressive. I remember back in the mid 90s you'd find them on pretty much everything, lot of XC and even DH bikes used them before discs were common. It''s a great design and the trials guys seem to be why they're still making them.
I did a tour of the magura factory and we talked about who the biggest customer is for the rim brakes (thinking it would be trials riders), it turns out trials is a tiny percentage of their sales and city/commuter bikes are by far the biggest user. I’m still not a fan of them, v brakes are better in nearly every way for trials use
Cool Frame. I don’t know anything about these trial bikes but a seat can be added to this, pretty much the same way the stem gets attached to the forks. Or via an expanding collet that can be through the sear tube and custom extended Allen wrench, but that’s just me.
Water with a bit of automotive antifreeze for the winter months. Some people also added a bit of magura fluid with a drop of washing up liquid to emulsify to maintain a bit of oiliness for the seals. Man I miss those days, it's way too easy/boring with modern fluids...
With all that raw aluminum maybe check out some aluminum polishes or sealants to prevent it from oxidizing. Can't let an engineering marvel like that degrade! :)
Nice frame, Ali! I watched this frame back than, but bought a UMF Hardy 3 '07, since it was more practical for me. And after a few sus forks, I got the same Echo, in grey and disc only. Best rigid fork ever! :) By the way, after Sam Pilgrims mech and paint skills you can't surpise me. xD
Ali, not sure if you'll be interested or already know... Animal Bikes (The US BMX Brand btw) worked with KMC to release a couple Chains. They gave the absolute BEAST Mike Hoder his own signature beast of a Chain, KMC 710 I believe is the model, beefy AF & pretty indestructible from what I hear. That being said, I doubt this will be of much help to you lol but Shadow Conspiracy Interlock Supreme Chain is essentially the best Chain money can buy! Might not be a great fit for Trials & you might have to buy two depending on your gear ratio & CS Length but for Street? They're absolutely the best! You might also be interested in the Odyssey Key Chain? They offer a Solid Pin & a Hollow Pin version, they're also absolutely TOP Notch Chains! You need a specific breaker for them, but once they're at the correct length you can install/uninstall them with a 3mm Allen Key! They might be a bit more suited to the Street Trials Bike. You should keep an eye on a few BMX Companies honestly! There's definitely a few bits & bobs from Companies like Eclat, Odyssey, Shadow Conspiracy that would very easily work with Trials stuff! Especially if you decide to put a 20" together! Which is actually the reason I've made this rather long comment! Would LOVE to see you put together a Street Styled 20" something like an Alias 20.2? Eclat are releasing Carbon Rims VERY soon! Profile have their Elite Hubs available with Disc Mounts & 20mm Axles, Through Axle? Possibly? When I win the Euro Millions XD I'm gunna put together a beasty 20" Trials Bike to accompany my BMX's!
Maybe just maybe you can use a half link chain instead of a 10 temperature unless chain tensioners are a really good useful thing and I know you're trying to be are correct but still half link chains look pretty badass
The way halflink chains are made (with a bend in the link) means that under high torque (trials is extremely high torque) the link tries to straighten out which severely reduces the strength. Halflink chains don’t last long on trials bikes
Well, if you wanted one , you could uh Drill a hole for it. With the colours , how think it is and the forward angled handlebars, it reminds me of a flower mantis
Oven cleaner sometimes contains sodium hydroxide which is the key ingredient for stripping anodized parts (it dissolves aluminium)...I showed myself stripping a hub in a previous build (Giant trials team?) with some sodium hydroxide but unfortunately it doesn’t effect painted parts
Hey Ali, just ordered an Inspired HEX and I can't wait for it to finally be here! It will be my first trials bike and you are the reason i chose the HEX since I think your knowledge about tech is huge besides your sick riding! Could you tell me what pressure you are running front and back? Also, are bunny hop 360's way harder than with the Fourplay or the Arcade?
Good choice dude! I’m sure you’ll love it :) 360 hops are slightly harder but not by much. Tyre pressure depends on the tyre, your weight and off your tubeless or not. With my 73kg weight, tubeless and Maxxis Crossmark mk2 tyres I like to run 38 psi
@@Ali_Clarkson Huge thanks for the answer mate! Good to know they are doable, I have no excuse than hahaha. Also thanks for the detailed tips on tyre pressure since it is my first trials bike and I'm nearly your weight I think that's a good orientation :)
Great loved this, the whole tone of it 😂 - Bike name 🤔AliT - SS1 " Silver Shadow". Next bike riding video would be cool to see done in the style of TopGear, with you doing a Clarkson on Clarkson review.😂
I must have OCD because the angle of your valve stem on the front wheel keeps catching my eye, to the point where I don't notice the seat is missing! hahaha
Glad you liked it :) I’ve never had a frame break from modifying it, I’ve got one of my old frames here that I took even more material off and it’s still going strong although it’s not been ridden since 2007/8
@@Ali_Clarkson pretty crazy how much they can stand up too. Your arcade I have is still going even after i welded the cracked fork. Not that I can do what you do on bikes but still impressed with the strength in them
What if you changed the gearing and did a Sam pilgrim but reversed, you use the trials bike as a jumper and trials bike instead of jumper I think that could be cool
“where’s your seat?”
Ans: well you see, there was... but then there was a drop..... and..... well... it’s gone
Pp
well you see i tried to send a drop sitting down
it took me 30 seconds to realise that you were actually talking and i wasnt reading subtitles in your voice in my head anymore!
I didn’t realise 😂
So, whats it like being famous Ali?
"People know your name but you don't know theirs. It's great!"
That bike looks so cool.
My trials bike hasn't got a seat either and no one here has ever seen anything like it
I get so many questions about not having a saddle ither
This bike is literally my dream bike the more I watch

Don’t worry my man, it’s something I want to do but I just have a few other videos to do first :)
“Where’s your seat?”
It actually got stuck up there a little while ago.
No Lockring =less weight !!
Love the videos Ali ,keep up the good work 👏 👍
Thank you :)
I'm a bike mechanic and I think your headset press is epic!
I didn’t think that comment was going that direction haha, thanks!
That paint is what they call powder coat and there is a reason its tough its electronically bonded to the metal not to be confused with anodized
I really got to give that tire mounting technique a try. I've been squeezing tires onto the rim by hand like a chump!

Where’s your seat gone Ali:
Some random guy: He failed a trick and crashed, legend says it’s still up there
I got a new red 24 inspired flow thank you for the recommendation it's a awesome bike keep making the great videos.
Glad you like it buddy!
your mechanical skills can't scare me after sam pilgrim. Angle grinders, sledgehammers, paint on stanchions and much more
This has gotta be my fav bike build series on youtube by far! Such a cool combo of parts and neat trials things most bike riders wouldn't know about!
great to hear, thank you :)
just wanted to say that this was one of your best videos yet. commentary was on point and the video was super entertaining. good shit ali!
Thank you! :)
Great build Ali!
Huge bonus points for the Grandpa Simpson reference from the Hollapalooza concert episode. 😁
I just discovered your channel, and i have 0 idea when it comes to trials. Oh well, time to binge your entire channel
- "Where's your seat?"
- What? They make seats for bikes too? AWESOME
Cool Frame. I don’t know anything about these trial bikes but a seat can be added to this, pretty much the same way the stem gets attached to the forks. Or via an expanding collet that can be through the sear tube and custom extended Allen wrench, but that’s just me.
"wheres your seat"
Just point to where it would be and insist its there.
I hate when elders say: yOURe BiKE iS tOo SmaLl!! or when they say: wHeRes ThE SeAt??
That bike turned out great. I can't wait for the testing video
Very cool Adam Ant hair-do to go with your adamant. You might need the pirate bandana if Glasgow's barbers don't open soon.
Yes a bandana! Good idea!
i love those box of parts, i wish my bins were as well endowed as yours.
Mine had to get topped up from eBay and Facebook sales haha
bled with water????? you are kidding, aren't you?
Nope, I can guarantee every top level trials rider runs water in their hydro rim brake :)
Water with a bit of automotive antifreeze for the winter months. Some people also added a bit of magura fluid with a drop of washing up liquid to emulsify to maintain a bit of oiliness for the seals. Man I miss those days, it's way too easy/boring with modern fluids...
Good work! A trials bike is the bike I never knew I needed, looks like a blast to ride!
That's a pretty sweet bike that needs to be in some type of Mad Max movie maybe with some sharp pegs on the back tire

Ali is magic like Sam Pilgrim ; )
Nice build Ali
Haha true 😂 they finally need to do some vids together like Sam did with Duncan!
Another great build there Ali and I am looking forward to seeing you ride this bike, oh and I really like your voice over/comentary
Thanks Jack :)
Answer to seat question: Where the sun don't shine m8!
Painting the bb shell would be a cool detail.
Good to see the b&w dood again!

Very Allen Millyard inspired voice over video this! And it's certainly not a bad thing 👍👍
Funny I was just talking to Jane about him earlier as he got his silver play button today, that guys a legend!
Never saw breaks like that before what actually I might have but they seriously seem like they work pretty good
Surprised no one has said "The cute thief stole my seat!" yet!
Oooouh boy!! Ali is back on the pipe xD
The washing and stripping stem I've watched that too many times and found it more hilarious every time
Heh heh :P

"You should see the other guys bike."
Was that an Abe Simpson quote? Classic.

“Well, tbh, I got the frame off your mother, so!”

I am the seat.
hey I just watched the video that you drilled this thing and I was wondering wether it'll be the build episode and here where it is
Love the Grampa Simpson reference 😉
Where can I buy that headset press? 😂
A diy shop or find a naturally grown organic press if that’s your thing ;)
You can use the same precision tool for press fit bbs.
IKEA
@@Dan_Kornfeld IKEA would never sell such quality lumber ;)

Ahh, another graduate of the Sam Pilgrim Bike Mechanic Academy, I see! Cheers from San Diego =)
I've not actually watched his bike build videos, I guess we're both in too much of a rush haha!
(I should probably point out I've nothing against Sam and his videos, he's a cool guy but I just don't watch MTB videos in general)
You had me at Echo Urban!!!!
Cool Ali 👍
You could drill holes in the handlebars, also the tire side walls, cranks, or , see what happens :)
I had a diamond back t20 trials bike that i started out on. Was a gd little starter bike but sold it as gave up trials and bmx due to many back issues
those 20" bikes will do that to you!
I loved it when I was younger but now I could never do it again.
Truly entertaining video mate :)
Thanks!

I expect youre trying to dissolve 2 pack paint, that's why it don't like coming off. Hard to sand before painting also.
Amazing 🤩
Grandpa Simpson wisdom is the best.
I have a trialtech stem that looks exactly like the paint-removed example seen here.
Awsome man!!
Thanks Tom :)
you are the king of silver😅
Looking forward to seeing a riding video, in currently trying to decide which frame to build up... adamant a1 or Gu Typhoon 06
I have adamant frame! Bought entire bike for $200 a few years ago. Too bad it can't be used with disc brakes
good buy! You'd want to use a disc brake though?
Would be awesome to see you back on the arcade:)
10/10 I used to be with it. It'll happen to you!

wow how i wish to have this kind of bike
You can hide a trigger and put some ammo, and you can make a shotgun bike with this frame
