Solanin remains my favourite manga from the author, so I hope you'll enjoy it! Glad to see you're back! ✨

I just added the Mark Fisher book you're reading to my TBR. I recently discovered his book Ghosts of My Life while doing some research on the concept of hauntology. I'm really interested in his work. I always enjoy seeing what books you're reading. Great video as always!

!queen: "People Spiraling". The Bee Sting (Paul Murray). I turned over a a few tables when this title didn't win The Booker Prize.
    Birnam Wood (Eleanor Catton).
    Short stories:
Penguin Classics: Songs of a Dead Dreamer and Grimscribe (Thomas Ligotti).
Currently reading: Grey Dog (Elliott Gish) and Edifice Complex (Michaël Wertenberg). More spiraling.
Always great to see new content.

i can relate to people spiraling lol
i've seen the bee sting floating around, but hadn't really considered it. i will now though, thanks!
aaah i still gotta get to birnam wood too. i saw it at the bookstore, but the first page didn't grab me. i'm still gonna give it a shot, though.
i'll definitely consider ligotti's short stories if i like the conspiracy against the human race. i feel like i'm obligated to read at least some of his horror fiction in order to maintain my card-carrying horror girly status.

I've had The Conspiracy Against the Human Race on my shelf for years and have never been in the mood to pick it up haha

I definitely have books like that too, but I hope I'm able to get to this one before it reaches rotting-on-my-shelf status ( •ᴗ•)

The Conspiracy Against the Human Race is a really good book! Great overview of pessimism and antinatalism. :) And The End of Alice is wild. Darkly funny book, actually. And I actually really wanna read that Blind Owl book myself. Hope it's good! :)

i'm definitely looking forward to it. though i feel like i'm barely clinging to a shred of optimism already, so i'm anticipating it will fully plunge me into the camp of pessimism lol
i'm happy to hear that end of alice is darkly funny, cuz that's the vibe i got from tampa and i loved that one. it's so impressive to me when an author can manipulate such awful subject matter into a funny outcome.
will keep you posted on the blind owl. it's definitely calling to me since it's such a lil guy and i think i can cram it in before the end of the month.

Why is The Weird and the Eery called an essay instead of a book?

    • @superblomper
      @superblomper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

it's both! essays are usually just shorter books and are pretty much just the author providing their opinions on a particular topic.
