  • Oh my goodness Ranunculus are beautiful! They are also incredibly hard to get right....
Ranunculus are one of those flowers that flower farmers obsess over. here are the reasons for this in my opinion:
They form a key late spring focal flower.
They are utterly enticing with their endless petals and petals and petals.
    They have good strong stems.
They Last for ages in a vase.
    And they dry well too!
That is alot of reasons to want to be able to grow them as a flower farmer.
This is our third year growing them. In the video I talk about the mistakes that we have made. I also talk about how we have learned from them and why we are doing things differently as a result.
I talk about the pests that we take into consideration when we are growing Ranunculus and the soil conditions that I am thinking about when I am planning our planting. Our pests are based on our 2 growing sites. One is urban and the other is
Because I keep good records, I have pulled out the video from last year for you to see how we planted them and the pictures of the difference in roots between the plants that did well and the plants that did not do well. And I talk about why this was last year.
Finally I talk about the most important thing for you as a flower farmer, which is what I am taking into account when I plan our pricing for the Ranunculus that we sell.
I genuinely believe that the Ranunculus are worth the effort that we are putting into them this year. However the proof will be in the cutting in a few months time. Cool but not freezing weather is what we ask the weather to provide for the next few months. However, we'll see what we are given and work with it.

Instead of starting Ranunculus in cell trays, you could start them in the flat 10 x 20 trays. The roots don’t spiral, and they’re easy to tease apart right before you plant them.
