When Snow Summit announced their opening day, I was stoked. And immediately afterward, I was scared. The last time I was at the bike park, I had my most serious injury. Opening weekend was all about facing fear and regaining confidence.
Thanks Bradley! I'm less scared and more aware of how much my wrist and hand can take before they literally stop working and I'm no longer able to hold onto the handlebar. 😆

Glad you dug it! It was a full weekend! Which of the three parks would I recommend? I'd say it's between Skypark and Summit. Go to Skypark if it's your first time at a bike park. The vibe is more mellow there, and the tree cover makes for a pleasant experience with a lot of fun trails. If you're comfortable with bike park reality, i.e. high speed, big features, and a host of highly skilled riders to share the trail with, Summit is a friggin' blast! Hope that helps!

Going Green is rocky and long. There are some other trails like Alan suggests or go over to Coyote that will be good for you. I rode with beginners for 3 days and we had plenty to ride. I will be sharing the videos as I process them.
Thanks for sharing...I found the dirt inconsistent and I wasn't too confident either....I never made it over to Party Wave or Miracle Mile as I was trying to keep everyone in the group happy. My videos will just have to be for a more kid friendly/XC audience

I also went to Snow Summit opening weekend and had a blast,, came back for more last Wednesday and Thursday. Any pointers on how to handle the right turn after 650B.. You ride like a pro on that corner.
Alan, looked like a most excellent day! Question- What is lowering the stem supposed to accomplish? I did a quick scroll through comments and didn't see this. But is it supposed to be more stable? Adjust your weight more over the bike? Thanks and cheers.
Good question. I guess I never mentioned the idea there. Paul felt that it would help me pull the bars more on jumps. And that proved to be true. I also found that helped me get more weight onto the front tire in turns. Hope that helps!
Yo Alan! Good to see you back at Summit, nice vid. Question on your elbow and knee pads, I notice they have some velcro straps to secure them. Would you recommend them for somebody who has tried the basic TLD slide on pads and has experienced them quickly stretching out and losing their grip? They seemed to be the right fight but just lost their elasticity. Looking for something to stick long term - haha.
Yo! I love my knee and elbow pads. I only wear the elbow pads at Summit and they've been solid. And the kneepads have been awesome at the bike park and on all the enduro rides I do. I've had them for over a year, and have had zero issues. Check my kit site for links: kit.co/MTBALAN/

Thanks Kevin! That's rad! I would recommend starting with Going Green and then Turtle. Going Green is mellower, and the views are great, but it is a bit longer so be prepped for that. Turtle has big bermed switchbacks that can be pretty visually intimidating if your boys aren't used to that kinna thing, and riders can get pretty high speed on it. But most people up there know that all levels of riders are gonna be on Turtle, so it's a good trail for working on cornering and speed management. There is a new trail opening soon called Blue Steel. As soon as it opens, I'll do a vid on it and mention if it'd be good for ya! Y'all gimme a shout if you see me up there! 🤘🏽
Yeah...I moved a 5mm spacer from under to atop the stem. It helped me pull the bar a bit more on the jumps and also felt like I could put more weight onto the front wheel in turns. I am planning to drop it another 5mm and see how that feels.
The park doesn't require it. But I recommend it. Lot's of high speeds and hard surfaces. 😆 If you start riding some of the tracks at trail speed, top speeds can be ~40mph.
I noticed your camera is mounted to your mouth guard on your helmet. Can you tell me where you got it? I'd like to pick one of those up. Seems like a good investment

It really depends on the lines. Right now, the lines get pretty long mid-day, so I can only get like 6-8 runs. But once it mellows out (and gets a bit colder later in the year), you can literally roll straight off the trail and onto the lift. And I've gotten 12+ runs in on those days.
