  • Clifford Ridgway of the Mid-Cheshire Amateur Cinematography Society takes a trip around the County of Cheshire as it was before the second World War, taking in Sandbach, Barthomley, Moreton Old Hall, Marton, Gawsworth, Warburton, Lymm, Arley Hall, Chester (and the River Dee), Eaton Hall, Shocklach, Peckforton Castle, Beeston Castle, Horsley's Well, Bunbury, Eaton, Rushton, Cotebrook, Great Budworth and Bostock Hall (near Middlewich). Taken from the original colour film which is now part of the Roberts Collection in the North West Film Archive. Music by kind permission of Rob at Pianola.co.nz. Sadly, we had to delete comments from a few tin-eared people giving us the benefit of their immense experience of classical music and missing the point by miles. That's why we no longer allow comments. I know that visually and musically this film is not the best quality. The original was rescued from a dustbin and donated to the NW Film Archive, when it would otherwise have been lost for ever. I have to say that it's obvious that some people wouldn't recognise a pianola if one fell one them. The possibility of that happening to one or all of these people is remote, but I live in hope. This sadly low quality version of the film is here as a tribute to my Uncle as I wanted people to at least be able to see it in some form The music may not be to everyone's taste, but it was Uncle Clifford's favourite music and has been used in his memory. If you don't like it, turn the sound off. Thank you for your kindness and understanding.
