The historic centre of Santa Marta is where most tourists go when they visit because it's safe, full of character and home to many different boutique hotels and hostels. Not only that, Santa Marta is a must if you are looking to visit Tayrona National Park, Minca or Palomino.
For those looking for a Santa Marta ATM which works with a Visa card, I tried several machines and only found two which worked. We were staying in the marina area and the ATM below the gym in the marina area was the best option. The Regarding workouts we used the marina gym twice (awesome view!) and another morning I did 10x80m Sprint intervals in the sand near the sidewalk close to the marina.
Sam all the things you said about Santa Marta are what I've experienced while visiting. It is very relaxed and the mountains run to the ocean. It would be my choice for the pace of life I want.
I've been hardcore on Cartagena for retirement but after staying a few times I'm realizing just what the tourism industry impact has had there. Santa Marta deserves a serious look so thanks for this video. The one thing about Santa Marta if you are planning on staying there long term is that I hear the Hospital infrastructure there is not really that great. So Healthcare deserves a closer look. But great video man. Really appreciate it.
I love Santa Marta. I was there in 2019 in a beautiful apartment on the beach. We had a trip planned in March of last year but had to back out at the last second due to Covid. I previously had vactationed in Cartagena and spent time in Armenia in 2012. I will return to Santa Marta and hopefully soon depending on the pandemic. Not a day goes by that I do not think about returning and returning permanently
Buen video de santa marta, para una buenas vacaciones, o tambien para vivir y pasarla rico con amigos y familiares..buenas playas, sol , arena , mar, buceo, buena comida, buenos hoteles muy bueno la verdad y recomendado

Great information on Santa Marta, Sam! It sounds like the exact environment I'm looking for, meaning surrounded by mountain and beach vibes. I'd like to stay in place awhile longer, maybe 4-6 months.
I love this so much Sam! I live in Santa Marta part-time and I love it here. Especially Flamingo Co-working. The food there is really great. I also l am opening my yoga business there.

very surprised you failed to mention anything about the serious lack of clean water and basic infrastructure in Santa Marta. Most people do not consider the running water there to even be safe enough for cooking. Also, Santa Marta has not even obe decent hospital if you happen to ever need one.

The mid-day temps would be my main concern too. Even in Medellin ( which is a lot cooler) I tend to avoid the mid-day sun.
Yeah I hid out in my room working on the laptop with the AC on, it's radioactive to try to get too much outside done midday
