You are awesome! I would just really like to hear more about toilet breaks. It always seems like you never go to the bathroom and i always wonder how you would incorporate it. I need to take quite a few breaks during my marathon runs and heading to ultras - it just worries me because it seems like no one has that issue. I try my best to figure it out myself but no one really talks about the bathroom issues everyone must have. Like do you just go into the woods, how about your pacer do they block the view so no one can see you, what about number 2 during ultras, do you have toilet paper with you, do you plan your roots around toilets or do you just hold it in? How about when you get your period and need to change but the AID station is miles away? Or is it just me having all those questions? Please share your wisdom
Thank you so much for sharing Sally! I'm just learning how to fuel right after a long time suffering from anorexia. Watching inspiring athletes like you fueling your session so good & fair to your body gives me the strength to do so too!
I've benn using BPN G.1.M sport, Go Bars, and the post recovery strawberry when protein for about 3 weeks and it makes a HUGE difference in preventing me from bonking. Sally, I tended to be "old school" and not worry about fueling my workouts and post workouts after 27 years of teaching group ex. and training folks for those shorter hour workouts. But since moving into the ultra endurance space in Oct, thanks to you and Eddie, I have so much more respect for the fueling process. Plus tBPN products taste great. I just ordered their new gels and sleep power. PUMPED! Love you guys from creating this special, kind community. Do the work!!!!
this completely inspired me! I did a 2 mile warm up. Next, inclined the treadmill at 5% and did 1 min run uphill then brought it down and did 1 minute jog. repeated in similar intervals to you! Great run!
I've been incorporating this ladder workout into my training once a week and it's so deceptively hard! I'm really enjoying training using RPE and loving the wisdom to focus on one interval at a time, instead of trying to spare some energy for the next one. As endurance runners I feel like we're always trying to leave something in the tank, but it's a pretty awesome feeling to try and spend it all. You're amazing, Sally. Such a healthy and down to earth role model. Health and love to you from Vancouver, Canada x
Love your videos you’re inspiring to me for so much information and motivation. I’m 63 now and still running and working out and nice to get more and new information on fueling for my fitness ❤ thank you I use BPN also and wear your yellow hat on my longer runs CHOOSE STRONG
It’s always a good day when there’s a new Sally video! I also love to pack everything in mason jars and it drives my hubby crazy lol - and I always say “but it’s so pretty!” 😂 Thank you for the realness!!! And endless motivation!
Good food, good workouts, good family time = Really Living! "Its not the days in your life that matters, its the life in your days that matter! I see this in you Sally and Eddie and fam!
My guess for one of the reasons why Sally is so enthusiastic and positive w/high energy all the time (at least in front of the camera and on her socials), is all those endorphins and related chemicals constantly present for her. Due to all that great training and high level nutrition. I can't possible afford the clothing, shoes, food and supplements that she can - but these videos still give me ideas on how to train, use nutrition, wear workout gear etc. There's good 'finds' at Ross stores, Goodwill, etc. Thanks!
I read her book last year, it was very good and inspiring. Indeed she had a tough time growing up and into adulthood. Many people have similar experiences. I know well, how to make the best with what I have. I follow Sally to get tips and ideas on what I'm able to do with my means and situation.
On my last hill rep this morning, while listening to your podcast episode from Nov with Eddie (long run one) suddenly I've heard you saying: if you're running up the hill right now, imagine im next to you, relax your sholders ... Oh man! This made me smile big times and gave me giant push! Ps. Your laugh is contagious! 😀
Very interesting! Wholesome food to fuel, and not overeating. I find it very difficult to balance it. Training for a marathon gave me the feeling of always being hungry and that I could eat anything. Became overweight, you cannot outrun a bad diet!
Hey Sally do you have a recommendation for a drink mix so that after my long morning runs I don’t feel like trash the rest of the day. Or any idea what I’m lacking? I do not do anything but water and I run 4-10 miles per day. You are the best thank you! I have the big Carmel Indiana half marathon coming up and have to break 1:44 I have been cursed with that time past two races!! Have a nice day.
Sally how do you slow down when running. I feel like Im going slow but cant stay in a zone 2 even 3 .. how do you discipline your self to get all the endurance and recovery.
I think you yourself have to believe in the process of how training works- the slow runs compliment your harder intense runs AND when you run slowly it prepares you to be able to push hard again. Let yourself slow down and trust the process.
Sally do you ever train fasting? I met with a dietitian and she encouraged me to train that way for Big foot because I would need my body to flip in and out of fat burning mode..
How do you get passed the heaviness in the calves in rest? I just got into running training for my first marathon but my calves have a hard time, they feel like they can’t support me the entire time. My legs same things happen. It’s not my mind. Maybe just train more? I’d like to get my mile time faster
@@chantalbc8419 I'm not sure if this is her case at all, but grain free sometimes relates to "gluten free" at least in the products I've bought. I got diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis a year ago and met with my dietitian/GI pharmacist whose husband has celiac disease and gluten free/taking most grains out of the diet has helped tremendously. They described to me that some people who just have a non-celiac gluten sensitivity (like me) react better to gluten-free/grain-free diets when it comes to their gut health and GI tract in general. For me, whenever I consume grains/gluten foods it makes my stomach cramp really bad, which leads to a lot of bowel movements, then makes me feel fatigued/dehydrated. Which if ignored can cause inflammation in other parts of the body as well. I'm sure she doesn't have any of this going on, but might have noticed that the benefits of grain-free/gluten-free helped her feel more energized, etc.

I’m wondering this too! Especially during menstruation.
Thank you so much for sharing Sally! I'm just learning how to fuel right after a long time suffering from anorexia. Watching inspiring athletes like you fueling your session so good & fair to your body gives me the strength to do so too!
I'm the same. Now trying to learn how to fuel properly for running and lifting
Sally I been following you for almost a year now and I have to say I’m motivated by you and Nick Bare to do my best at running

Read her book “Choose Strong”. She didn’t always have what she has now, but has worked hard to get here!
Do best with what you have 💛

Sally, Thank you for sharing your day. It’s educational, it’s motivating and real. Thank you🙏
Wanted to ask, which brand of sunglasses do you wear?
Thanks for posting! Always motivated by your content, you are inspiring. Any advice for shin splints being 10 weeks away from race day?
I love the hoodie at the end!
I got to get me some of the Siete Tacos... I love the Siete Tortia Chips. Eat them with everything from beans to scrambled eggs !!!!

Nice to have motivating women on my watch list.
Any advices on popping backs after long runs next day?

Love this! Where did you get your sweatshirt? The black one with the lilly on it. It's super cool.
PCH and HB so beautiful at sunset
As u know, the whole foodsss like steel cut oats are longer lasting as far as carbohydrates unlike the rolled processed oats

Curious if there are any raw runners/triathletes out there?
Sally, are you still doing Cameos?
When's the next blog?
Tomorrow!
@@sallymcraestrength Awesome!
Do you shower twice on these days? Washing your hair both times??
❤
can i ask why grain free?
🔥🔥
Why grain free tacos and chips!??
Because they’re delicious!
Lol but is there a heàth reason or dietary restriction?

I can't afford those fuel nutrients. What's a girl to do?
real, whole food is just as powerful- bananas, lemon+salt in water, dried fruits, etc
wish I could eat like that without getting big....
do you run like her in the day though??
