Hello! I'm the original poster of this video.
    I need to address something:
The idea that "being offended" is a sign of weakness or a lack of understanding is a false (but common) mindset. I agree that some people are very quick to get offended on behalf of others, even when they themselves don't know a lot about the context or even the issue they're getting offended over. That's the sort of offense that I don't mind causing. Hammond's Mexican comments, though, were far beyond the line of good taste. I'm certain that the three of them have never actually gotten to know someone who is Mexican, or had any real Mexican food (because most of it is effing delicious).
Offense has its place, and I don't look down on anyone who is genuinely offended by something. I try to be a nice person and accommodate their emotional minefield (because we all have one). I want to make it clear that *it is okay to be genuinely offended*, especially when it's about something that causes one a lot of pain, fear, or anger.
Do people "get offended too often these days?" Not necessarily. There are a lot of things that cause hurt, and some damn good reasons why they do. It's the people who seem to get a rush by being a part of someone else's supposed outrage that make me laugh and roll my eyes.
We both seem to agree that seeing hosts relaxed, honest, and mostly unfiltered is a good thing.
    Cheers. :-)

The Mexican comment episode did get them into trouble. It was mostly Hammond. You have to remember for British people, they don't have a lot of interactions with Mexicans like say Americans do. Their stereotypes is based on old cartoons and tv shows. Whereas Americans see Mexicans as hard workers, the British don't have that knowledge. The inverse would be Indians, which the British know well and Americans less so.

The Mexican Government were so cross (offended) by the description of the national stereotype that the Top Gear 3 were invited to the Mexican Embassy in London, where, it was reported, they all got hammered on Tequila, apologised and parted the best of friends; that's how to resolve a conflict ;)

  • @EthanfromEngland-

The Mexican stereotype probably stems from the Spanish stereotype of people who sleep all day because its too hot to work. Ya know like siestas and all that. Just banter.

The bit about Saudi Arabia, they were talking about hydrogen fuel cells, once it's all figured out, and the infrastructure is in place, the Saudis and all oil producing countries in the middle east will go broke, because the economy of each of those countries rely on just oil exports.
