I’m just looking through the comments and I keep seeing the same thing about Lamar Jackson . He is not just a running qb the man threw over 3 thousand yards and led the league in passing touchdowns and tied Russell Wilson in passing completion. He could very well get the same contract because he does more than run the ball.

Lamar had 500 yards by himself, he showed up and did everything he could, you expect him to do it by himself? The run game was abandoned and his receivers weren't catching or holding onto the ball in key situations, as well as the defense buckling, so it wasn't Lamar's fault they lost, it was the team's fault

It's not so much about breaking the bank. It's about keeping a substantial amount of cap room available to keep good players around him to win more championships and cement his legacy. He'll make up the difference in endorsements and investments as long as he keeps winning Super Bowls. You don't wanna cut off your nose to spite your face. This contract was beautifully done and was a very smart and respectable move.

Lamar Jackson probably won’t get a contract like mahomes. Historically Running QBs haven’t had as long of a prime as an elite passer so I don’t see Baltimore investing for 10 years in the future

I never felt comfortable talking about another man's money. Money is NOT everything, Mahomes been there, done that, he come from a professional ball playing family, he said himself its not about the money for him. So Mahomes is doing whats best for himself and the team. I think I speak for us chiefs fans when I say we could care less what it mean for any other quarterback. Let them figure it out. Mahomes only have a responsibility to himself, and his family but he's such a good person and a smart person. He know having those weapons around him would only make it that much easier to get to the big stage every year.

It doesn’t benefit them at all unless they can actually win something. Mahomes is breaking records and already won a title, that’s why he got that mega contract because he literally isn’t even in his prime yet. Jackson is 0-2 in the playoffs and Watson has failed in a few big moments as well.
TV viewership of NFL football increased the last couple year when others sports saw TV viewership decline. If it goes down, the rate of player salary increase will decelerate... may even decline.

I think the deal just means that Mahomes wants to stay if KC and he will make hundreds of millions anyway. So he's just leaving more meat on the bone for his weapons. By not breaking the bank on yearly salary means they will be able to pay other guys to stay.

In a few years, if this money looks small, Mahomes can just cry for a new deal and he'll get it, because that's what happens in the NFL.
