Wow!!! Not only genius soloing, but in the context of all those complex accents of the tune - unbelievable! I got to see Dennis do a drum clinic in my hometown in the 90's. My drummer friends and I were all stunned - we were in the presence of sheer genius!
So great to see this, when DC was in prime shape. Just such a fluid dangerous player with that great sound and time. Love it. And the ending chord by Sco, lush way to finish.
Title track from the album "Loud Jazz" this is definitely an expanded version of the solo from the studio version. Great share and also for the time very high quality video.
Always a monster soloist. I was lucky see him kill it with John McLaughlin and Joey DeFrancesco at the Bottom Line in Manhattan back in the 90's. We sat right next to the stage behind him. Absolute dynamic mastery and endless chops
This tune is called 'Loud Jazz'. This section w/ the 'kicks' where the solo happens is written into and an integral part of the tune's original arrangement.
Same thing for me! There was actually a lot of cool songs from a lot of people during those years, but to me this band was, "Super Bad De Luxe". No one but Dennis made me think so much about how I really should be playing my hi hat...
+1000 Dude. The first time I saw Dennis with Sco/Gary was in ‘87 in the middle of a blizzard. I made the trip expecting to see the venerable Omar Hakim (drummer on the Still Warm album), so when Dennis walked on stage I’ll admit I was a bit disappointed. That lasted for like 30 secs 😂. The entire place was mind blown! Have been a Dennis fan ever since….
Seeing something like this...which is simply off the charts bad ass...is at once confounding and frustrating as hell because it reminds me how long it's been since a world class fusion act has come through my town (Dallas/Ft Worth). What the hell happened?
Jazz Fusion is dead now. Great times with great bands. One of the very best here. Incredible songs. And yes, Dennis... I spoke with him at the New Morning in Paris 2 years ago. I said : You're the best Dennis ! He said : Thanks man. 😂🤣
there are lead sheads from this Scofield Song called “Loud Jazz“ in the internet ... search also by picture .... its mostly n three four signature or three four quarter time ...
Nobody played like him and Nobody plays like him 2022 God bless him one and only DC.
His musical memory is impeccable.
👌😊❤️🙏😌
If anyone needs a reminder of why Dennis is respected as the GOAT, watch and listen to this.
No doubt one of the greatest of all time! You can see Chambers' DNA in almost all of modern drumming now.
Don't forget Gary Grainger. The ideal partner for Dennis.
To be able to land all those breaks. Amazing🏆🥁🎸

We need a drum solo in 31/34 in this part.
DC: Give me a chewing gum first.
I was there that nite , standing upstairs right above his floor toms. I know , I'll never forget !!
Oh man, what a BAD mother....er... He is one of my top ten drummers of all time. Such a power and precision! Groovyyyy
A very humble man with such a legendary drum status

And Dennis is one of the nicest guys in the world.
Dennis is literally the GOAT
Literally!
Im like : ok, now im gonna count it. After a couple bars: well lets just enjoy the video🤪

Thank you ......... 🙏
OMG, wow. Now I see why people rave about Chambers. That is like superhuman! So precise, and controlled, and technical and musical. Just brilliant.
i like this kind of solo - with bunch of spaces, and that add a lot of thrill
My God he had such a beautiful flowing style back then!

... seen in the same period in Naples at the Havana Club 1 meter away: 3 absolute masters of their kind
wtf was that i just witnessed? man that's outta this world stuff Mr Chambers is a human metronome and then some.
Thank you for the musical vaccination. Peace from Detroit MI.
That was sick, tight and equally raw!!! Masters at their craft and Chambers killed it!!!!
john e i suoi giannizzeri...cazzo che bravi !!!!

Love this era of Scofield's discography more than any other and Dennis is a huge reason why. Hope he is doing well these days.

He’s playing fucking Tool now

Unique. Stand alone. Mind blowing...

DC is just on an entirely different level.

So nasty good.
I need chewing gum to keep time. What a beast.
Pause @ 1:10 or anywhere during Dennis’ solo.....is that a heart in printed in the keyboard players pony tail?? Lol
Nasty!
!!!!!!
Very good
Looks a bit like Ice Cube there
Okay camera man you missing all the good stuff looking at some fingers play the same two notes that's why it's a drum solo focus on the drummer
Gee wiz.
What year was that ?
1988
What's the time signature?
there are lead sheads from this Scofield Song called “Loud Jazz“ in the internet ... search also by picture .... its mostly n three four signature or three four quarter time ...
@@BuddyTacoMusic Finding out the time signature during the drum solo is difficult because the vamp is very syncopated and irregular.
What's the song name?
Song Title is .... “ Loud Jazz “ ....
"0'50. Uff
I don’t even understand that
The camera man is a hater missing the real footage
That's not Dennis. That's Ice Cube from one of the cut scenes from Boyz in the Hood. 😆
I'll be damned, he looks like straight out of the hood, as gifted he stood.
bom mas chatoooo😅
Very good drummer but the song itself had no direction.
Then you don't know music. What direction would you like it to lmao, smh!
It only a section of the song.
Dennis looks like he's gonna pull out his mac-10 and catch some fools trippin'.
