Nice review of a nice looking watch. Wanted to say thanks for all the dial printing videos. Been doing lots of watches as gifts. Just a basic Casio but with the custom dial’s geared to each persons desires they are cheap popular gifts. I’d show you what they look like but have a how to forward some pics.

This is a beautiful watch, and as I use a pulsometer for work I'm always on the lookout for nice ones - but I have to say, a non-chronograph pulsometer would kind of be a real pain in the ass in practice to use.
Half the time when you're taking a pulse you fudge the reading and need to take it again immediately, or you might not necessarily be ready to take the reading when it's at zero seconds, and it would be really annoying to have to always wait until it gets to zero to have to take it again. It would be wonderful if they added a chronograph complication, but I realise that would knock the price up a lot.

fair point about the chrono, and yeah that changes the price point a lot, especially for a mechanical.

Have you found that the cream dial is more subtle than it seems on the Vario website? I'm thinking about getting the 37mm brass with cream dial, but don't know if it's simply too much cream/orange/brass, or if I should go for the brass 37mm with white dial. Your cream dial seems far less pronounced, though, and I really like it.

It’s certainly different to the eye than the pics on the site. Brass with cream is a good combo, and looks more fitting than white with brass, in my opinion. White looks better with steel. Cream gives it a vintage feel which pairs nicely with orange. It’s a tasteful cream color. :)

@@WatchComplications Wow, what fast reply! I really appreciate that. You've sold me. 37mm brass with cream dial it is. Thanks for your help, and consider me subscribed.

Honestly, it’s the only modern interpretation of a trench watch that hits all the points, including the solid wired lugs. They’re great watches. Send a pic to my email when it arrives watchcomplications@gmail.com

I didn’t know the brand and I had to look at it.
Nice watches. I like the Empire better. Beautiful classic vintage design.
I definitively have to keep an eye on the brand. 👍

I also like the Empire, and they are working on a tux version of it at the moment. I did a dial swap on my Empire if you want a closer look at it: th-cam.com/video/35NO8OoS_jE/w-d-xo.html
