And we consider him as a righteous 12 and the last Imam/hujjat/khalifa a.s! As thru Ahle bait he’s gonna be the 12th son of Prophet pbuh! Just clearing non of the shia ever claimed to be Mehdi a.s! He’s the chosen one and righteous! But we believe that he’s already born and he gaibat just like Isa a.s just Ahle! But according to ibn majha (4039) "there is no mahadi except Isa(a.s) " So mahadi and Isa(a.s) is a same person.

Dr. sahb! Imam mahdi is already a chosen by ALLAH because it has been mentioned in ahadith that he will emerge. So, its mean he is already chosen by ALLAH. Secondly, he will be a religious person like imam as well as a political person because he will lead the prayer and Hazrat Esa (AS) will perform prayer after him. Its mean only a religious person can do like this. Yes, his performance will based on jihad and politics according to that time.
