It’s delightful to listen to these videos on Banks’ works. I’ve read every science fiction work by the man twice and explored his other books too, and consider his somewhat early death a great tragedy. These videos allow me to return to books I’ve read too thoroughly to reread; many thanks!

There is no evidence that the Cultural was involved in the war, the Culture ended the war by ‘admitting’ they had been imvolved. It is possible that they were’ not truly responsible but only took on responsibility to end a inevitable caste war
