You saved the day. Great video. I actually called our local mac store to point them to you, as they were advising me there was absolutely no workaround.
Call again with another number. And you will see that they wil probably say the same as before just because Apple doesn't want you to use more monitors. Edit: would sure not place the fault with the employee. They are probably just respecting what the employer tells them.
Thanks for the video! Please note this device (and it’s cheaper HDMI-only alternative) will lower the refresh rate of one of the screens to 30Hz when you’re using 4K resolution. Not pleasant. With 2K resolution the refresh rate should be higher. And: although no driver is required, the dual screen feature seems to be dependent on that InstantView software running continuously in the background. If support for this drops (from the vendor or within MacOS) you might loose that feature. Also: that software is likely to use some CPU-power: although this shouldn’t be really noticeable thanks to the huge headroom the M1 has.
What I meant to say: although it does not use a driver, it's not really "plug and play", because you have to install an other piece of software, which is not necessarily better than a driver. But it works pretty well & simple and no restart is required. We use it at my work with a couple of Macbook Airs.
I bought this hub so I could use two monitors. Initially it did not work on my new Macbook, as one monitor was blurry. I needed to update the bios of the Hyper hub by downloading from their website. Now everything is working perfect.
Worked like a charm! No need for video or gaming, just needed my second screen back and this little device did it. Thank you for your video! I was going crazy thinking I bought a computer that wouldn't do what I needed. You rock!
@@pandraus agree... doesn't make sense to me that Apple did not put in consideration of 2 external display support when designing their new M1 Chip Architecture.
This thing worked for about 15 minutes and then one of the monitor keeps dropping out and coming back. I checked if it was a cable issue by switching the VGA to HDMI cables in the hub and then the other monitor started doing the same thing. I read reviews that this happened to some people within a couple months but mine was within the first 30 minutes of use. The hub pretty hot as well. It may have been overheating and dropping the video image to compensate. Not sure. But for $200 it did not do the job.
