      If faith plus nothing equals salvation why repent ? Repentance is an act of obedience we must choose to do after we believe.

      @@Mink_Tracks Repentance as far as God is concerned isn't the same as the command to repent to man. Being saved is being born again and just as physical birth is the end result of a process, spiritual rebirth is also the end result of a process.
      The only apostle that Jesus gave the keys to the kingdom of heaven was Peter. Peter spoke those keys in Acts 2:38.
      Repentance must be completed by water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Then the Holy Spirit must be prsyed for until God answers your prayer and fills you. Then you must surrender your tongue to the Spirit. When you have recieved the Holy Spirit the Spirit will confirm thst you have by giving you the ability to speak in " tongues" which is one spiritual language.
      Acts 2:38 is that born again process.

      There are exceptions, elect infants who die, aborted babies, retarded persons, persons who lived and died who never heard the Gospel and also Old Testament saints. This is Unconditional Election

    Thank you..brothers! I remember when RC was on his death bed…those around him were saying …”Oh I hope his faith holds…pray his faith holds to the end!” I thought… that isn’t our faith…to begin with..but Jesus faith which is given to us as a gift! If it’s God given faith…it cannot fail! That’s my belief! If God saved me….He will also keep me till the end…through all my failures…ups and downs! I began in the Spirit…how do I hope to be protected by the efforts and works of the flesh? I can’t…only as I walk in the Spirit! Even then…I do not always walk in the Spirit…thank God for the blood of Jesus that covers all my sin!!!

    Amen gentlemen, i have said for a long time the calvinist has to say one of two things concerning salvation. They have to say they dont have any idea if they saved or they have to say thier lives are "good enough" that they think they saved. Also that clip from mcarther just sounds so pharisutical.

      Many times I see people who don't agree with Calvinism create straw man arguments against it. I see alot of confusion here as well... These men don't believe faith plus works, just that works are evident of someone who is regenerate. Seeing you are "good enough", if it means seeing fruit over a lifetime increase, is biblical, and would make sense to see that over time if you are saved. Relating to this video, if he had a moment of confusion I would say that can happen of course. Overall no indication this was his way of thinking all the time.

      @cinematogcw the point is if somone needs a certain amount of improvement over time and without it one should conclude they not saved, that is still basing one's assurance on thier own efforts instead of God's promise to believers.

      @@wib501 John 2:4: The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever follows His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says that he remains in Him ought, himself also, walk just as He walked. - There are many other scriptures pointing to obedience as an indicator of being saved. You don't trust in your works, but they indicate something.

    He nailed it. If your honest with your self you know you are not good enough. As James said in 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. We cannot save our self. That’s why it faith plus nothing. John 3:16 / John 6:28,29 / Ephesians 2:8,9

      What James is saying is if you have genuine faith then there will be evidence by your works/deeds.
      Paul says Repent of sin,have faith and demonstrate your repentance by your works/deeds.

      It’s literally right their in your face. Also, do you know who James is speaking to? James 1:1 KJV. “…to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting”. Are you part of the 12 tribes? No. Then why are you creating salvational doctrine from it? Do you know who we should be listening to in regards to doctrine? The apostle Paul. He’s our apostle.
      1 timothy 1:1 kjv Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope.
      Romans 15:16 kjv That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.       Here’s more verses that prove you’re saved by faith alone in the Gospel. 2 Timothy 3:15 KJV “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”.
      Galatians 2:16 KJV knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
      Romans 3:23-26 KJV for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. To conclude, you need to REPENT (change of mind) from not trusting in the gospel alone for your salvation to believing in the gospel alone for your salvation.
      And one last one that proves that you’re saved by faith alone even if you’re “ungodly”.
      Romans 4:5 KJV. “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”

      strangers.14 Iam the good shepherd. I "know" my own and my own "know" me

      Only those who have a changed life by repentance,and striving for Holiness are those who are Jesus's sheep and follow him.
      Jesus uses the word "knows" as in an intimate way just like that word is used throughout scripture.

      Clearly they claimed they believed in God to do those works He doesn't say you trusted in your works
      He doesn't say I knew you once and you later rejected me.
      He says I never "knew" you (in scripture "knew" means intimately)
      They never changed their minds about their sinfulled life (repented)Of their sins as Jesus the disciples and Paul all preached They didn't have a personal relationship with Him.
      They were pointing to their works as evidence they knew Him.
      They believed repentance is works
      God didn't know them because they hadn't been regenerated, forgiven of their sins and died in their iniquity.
      Titus 1:16

      Jesus wouldn't refer to what He commanded us to do as iniquity or lawlessness
      Note: They didn't say I repented of my sins which is the first requirement for salvation.
      What is the will of the Father?
      The Greek word that is translated as “does” is poieo. The word appears 598 times in the New Testament. It has been demonstrated that the Greek word for “does” refers to action that performs an activity. This word is a verb and not a noun.Since poieo is a verb, we must also determine the meaning of its tense, voice and mood. The tense of poieo in Matthew 7:21 is in the present tense.Poieo in the present tense refers to action that is ongoing. For example, when Jesus said, “he who does the will” He was referring to ongoing action at that moment in time.
      In other words he who is doing the Father's will.The Greek word for “does” is a Greek present participle which implies ongoing behavior. The person who does the will of God once in a while does not qualify.Jesus is describing someone who habitually does the will of the Father.
      Poieo is also in the active voice, which means that when Jesus said, “.he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter”
      Jesus was saying that the individual must be performing the action.
      A life of obedience (present tense “do” [Ποιωv] for continuous action) to his will is, in fact, the definition of righteousness.
      when Jesus says “. . . but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.” The word “does” is a present, active, participle verb which means that those who continuously are doing the will of the Father go to heaven. Jesus was referring to a pattern of life and not perfect obedience.
      The character of true Christians is that they sin less and less as they mature in their faith.
      God wants you saved,He wants you Spirit controlled,and He wants you separated from sin.
      1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
      It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; 4that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, 5not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; 6and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. 7For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 8Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction is not rejecting man
      but the God who gives His Holy Spirit
      to you.
      John sums it up.
      1 John 2:17
      The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

      @@jeremiahchapman9288 The context is the book(s)were opened, there are different books spoken of in the Bible . And the same verse speaks of the book of life. The people being judged are not in the book of life, it’s why they are being judged, based on their works. You see we are not placed in the book of life by what we do as Ephesians 2:8-9 says , the Bible teaches that salvation is a gift as per Romans 6:23, unfortunately many will not find Jesus Christ the savior in their lifetime, some reject Christ all together, and many follow the way of being good and rule keeping. Back to Rev 20:12 “Another book” book of life, now read verse 15, if you are not found in the book of life you will be sent to Hell. So the question for you and me is our name in that book? That is the key verse. If so the other books do not apply to the “saved” they obviously apply to the not saved the dead who never believed in the Christ, and this not found in the book of life, (verse 15).

    At the 4:34 minute mark RC writes that like Peter he too may be uncomfortable with Jesus, but he has no other option. I think RC meant he was uncomfortable with his own feelings regarding the claims of Jesus, but he has no other option than to believe those claims.

      That's not doubtless assurance .
      Assurance IS absent doubt about one's eternal destination , apart from perseverance till death in hopefully good enough behavior (works) , which is what Calvinism (and Sproul) clearly teach .
      The Bible says otherwise :
      John 1:12-13,3:1-18,4:10-14,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27.
      Little children can understand and believe in Him for His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life , instantly having irrevocable Life at that moment .
      No better news , ever .

      @@timgrady4630 I think the Christian tug of war that exists between does believing salvation is assured lead to a license to sin? Opposed to the Calvinists belief that doubt leads us away from sin and to good works and good works proves salvation, remains a constant tug of war that sells books, fills church pews and is fueled by the enemy.
      Here's my faith..Father by the blood of your son PLEASE save me a sinner and by his resurrection PLEASE grant me life with you forever. Meanwhile I'll keep looking up and be hopeful and watchful.
      I can't earn salvation I can only beg for it. Also to whom am I required to prove that I'm saved? To God? To Me? To anyone else? God already knows. I don't need to prove it to anyone else and as for myself, all I can do is have trust.

      How is it that God doesn't immediately - in every instance - snuff out His creatures when they sin , even for "little white lies" ?
      Whereas , Jesus took all sins away as the Lamb of God , that the work of Redemption would be finished .
      It's finished .
      Because, one must be born again to enter His Kingdom .
      John 3:1-18 precisely describes the Object of faith whereby one is invested with His endless Life
      (also : John 1:12-13,4:10-14,5:24,6:28-47,11:23-27) .
      His one sip of the Water of Life forever quenches the thirst for eternity , as He clarifies the Giver & the Gift in every Evangelistic encounter .
      It has zero to do with perseverance till death in hopefully good enough behavior (works) , which is exactly what R.C. Sproul taught - and his ideological comrades MacArthur , Washer , Lawson , Ray Comfort , & the vast majority within "Churchianity".
      They uniformly objective certainty of Everlasting Life this side of the grave .
      That's unvarnished unbelief in Him for His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life .
      Whereas , little kids can easily understand and believe in Him for His Promise , instantly having irreversible Life at that moment .

      If you want to be saved than trust this Gospel and you will be Saved! 1 Corinthians 15 1-4 :
      Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
      2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
      3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
      4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures
      and we have to put our trust in his blood Romans 3 24-26 :
      24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
      25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
      26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
      And You are saved through faith in his blood alone it is a free GIFT of God and not through your works lest any man should boast!
      So remember that faith means you believe and trust it and the moment you trust the blood Gospel you are saved and if you want to tell that too God it should come from the Heart!
      And if you need a Teacher I would always recommend Robert Breaker.

    It’s too late for deceased RC Sproul, however the ever popular John MacArthur still has time to jettison Calvinism out of his spiritual life.
    A more serious tragedy than MacArthur dying unsaved is that he has countless millions of followers who became Calvinists through his false beliefs, the most damming being the “P” in TULIP.

      McArthur screwed the pooch with his Legacy Standard Bible, adding to and subtracting from God's Word. By the standard of Revelation 22::18-19 he's a reprobate doomed to eternal suffering and hell. But we knew this about him before by his teaching his false gospel of Lordship Salvation. Galatians 1:8-9

Some Calvinists begin by believing the Gospel then apostasize into Calvinism, which was in my case. Since then I've come to my senses because I realized there are no Scriptures that support Calvinism. It's all smoke and mirrors. McArthur, Sproul, Piper are apostate. I think they are lost because they preach false gospels

    R.C. Sproul is terrified because Calvinism produces NO ASSURANCE of salvation, but doubt. Sproul has to wait until AFTER he dies to find out whether or not he's going to heaven. This is no different from the Puritans, who were the Calvinists of yesteryear where many died on their deathbeds in an utter state of panic not knowing if they were going to heaven after they die. William Perkins was a classic example.
    The same is true of John Piper who has no assurance of his salvation. John Piper says, "No Christian can be sure that he is a true believer. Hence, there is an ongoing need to be dedicated to the Lord and deny ourselves SO THAT WE MIGHT MAKE IT." "We must endure to the end in faith if we are to be saved."- John Piper made these statements at R.C. Sproul's Ligonier National Conference, June 15-17, 2000 in Orlando, Florida.
    John Piper also made this statement in his sermon entitled, "Why God is not a megalomaniac in demanding to be worshiped" - Nov 20, 2008 in Providence, Rhode Island. Piper says, "I deal with this as much as anything, probably, in the people that I'm preaching to. "Fears and doubts, doubts not about objective "Did He rise from the dead?" - very few people are wrestling with that - but "AM I IN? AM I SAVED?" That's very common for people to wrestle with." "But why I sin against my wife the same at age 62 that I did at age 42 causes me sometimes to doubt my salvation or the power of the Holy Spirit. - This question is not theoretical."

      With the Holy Spirit now indwelling us, we are thrust into a conflict between the divine Spirit of God and the carnal self.

      Ephesians 2:8-9 ; Romans 3:20-5:11,11:6 ; Titus 3:5 ; Philippians 3:9 ; & the book of Galatians proclaim an anathema on your works righteousness attempts to "come in some other way" than simple childlike belief in Him for His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life .
      "Calling & election" is for those "in Christ" , for service in the Body of the born again believers .
      Not at all an Everlasting Life/Evangelistic/Justification before God context .
      Book of John is the correct GPS setting for that .

      @@2Chronicles714_ It is a simple question of what Salvation is and what we should be doing afterwords Ephesians 2:9: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
      As you can clearly see we are saved by trusting the Good news (Gospel) that Jesus died for our sins was buried and ressurected and that by trusting his blood our sins are forgiven otherwise he died in Vain. So after we are saved and that is a one time event we then become his children by the holy spirit of Promise and we should do the good works that God wants us to do but not to be saved for our own rigthousness are like filthy rags but because we are already saved and want rewards. Romans 5:1-5: 5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
      2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
      3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
      4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
      5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
      If you read Romans and the other letters of Paul we can see how christ Imputes his rigthousness to us by faith and saves us and i will pray that you will see that when you read the KJV Bible.       Simple question why was Jesus's first command when He started His earthly ministry to repent?
      Why did he and the disciples preach to repent?
      Why then did Jesus leave as his final command after the resurrection for believers to go into all nations and preach repentance?
      Why then did Peter preach that we must repent and be baptized every one in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and recieve the Gift of the Holy Spirit? (Acts 2:38)
      If not needed then why did Paul say all people must repent of sin to God and have faith in our Lord Jesus?
      Acts 17:30
      In the past God overlooked such ignorance but now COMMANDETH ALL PEOPLE EVERY WHERE TO REPENT.
      What John the Baptist said was the reason for Jesus coming to earth to die for man's sins.
      Jesus does take away sins after repentance.

    Romans 10:9 Thankfully, I've always had assurance! Yay! My question was always, "Now about this Resurrection Body... what are the limits?" But I've studied it enough, and really the Study of the Resurrection Bodies capabilities is a Study of all the Bible... Because it comes down to knowing the Character of God Through Christ. And Basically, There's no limitations I'm worried about, and it's going to be awesome!

    Thank you for the content. Can you make a similar video about conditionalists and losing salvation? My family is Pentecostal and I've noticed everytime me and my brother talk to them about eternal life or other passages they get offended, angry and start yelling. Their fruits are not loving when they do this and it breaks my heart.

      @doubledee88 The Bible does not teach that saved Christians can lose their salvation. This is verified in John 5:24, John 10:28-29, Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 1:22, Romans 8:38-39, 1 Corinthians 3:14-15, 2 Timothy 2:13. The majority of all false doctrines in mainstream Christianity including Arminianism, Roman Catholicism, etc, all teach that salvation can be lost and that a person's salvation is dependent upon ongoing belief, ongoing works, ongoing perseverance, obedience, commitment, and faithfulness to the end of one's life. That is not the Gospel, but a false gospel of works that cannot and will not save anyone.
      Hence, Jesus rejection of them at the Great White Throne Judgment in Matthew 7:21-23.
      The majority of all false doctrines within mainstream Christianity will come to the errant conclusion that "salvation can be lost" or was "never possessed in the first place" based upon very faulty interpretations of such passages like Luke 8:6-7/Luke 8:13-14, Hebrews 6:4-8, Hebrews 10:26-27, Hebrews 10:38-39, Matthew 24:13, John 15:2,6, 1 Corinthians 9:27, 2 Corinthians 13:5, Philippians 2:12, Matthew 25:14-30, Revelation 3:5, just to name a few where all these passages are taken in ISOLATION and OUT OF CONTEXT where they will then impose their own man made philosophical presuppositions into these passages. This is called EISEGESIS, whereas EXEGESIS will bring out the true interpretations of these Scriptural passages by reading these passages in the right context and in light of other passages of Scriptures.
      At present, about 95% of all so called "churches" teach that salvation can be lost, or was never possessed in the first place by the false doctrines of Calvinism and Arminianism which are like 2 malignant cancers that have permeated all the churches. It is their false teachings along with Roman Catholicism, Pentacostalism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness doctrine, etc, that have been forcefully and adamantly imposed into all the seminaries, Bible colleges, theology textbooks, journals, dictionaries, encyclopedias, church constitutions, etc, for centuries.
      It is the below following 19 false denominations within mainstream Christianity (maybe more) that is currently responsible for all the unending confusion, fear, anxiety, Pharisaical self righteousness, pride, conceit, legalism, judgmentalism, division, and erosion of assurance of salvation. They all have one thing in common, that is, they will deny eternal security/once saved always saved and will no doubt front load and back load the gospel with works by teaching "faith + works" = possible salvation at the very end of one's life.
      (The front loading of works to "get saved", and the back loading of works to "stay saved" and "to prove to oneself and others that they are saved").
      Many teach conditional eternal security that is dependent upon the Christian's performance in this life and that salvation can be "lost" based upon their errant interpretations of Hebrews 6:4-8, Hebrews 10:26-27, John 15:2, 6, Matthew 25:14-30, Luke 19:11-27, 1 John 2:19, 1 Corinthians 9:27, Philippians 2:12, Revelation 3:5, etc.
      Satan has devised these 19 false denominations all working under a masquerade and he has packaged them differently going under different names and they are specifically designed to steer people of all ages away from the true Biblical gospel of the Bible, that is, John 3:16 in its simplicity. Many of these false denominations share and embrace each other's false doctrine resulting in hybrid theology which produces more confusion. An example is Presbyterianism that embraces Calvinist doctrine. Another example is the Assembly of God church that embraces elements of Calvinist and Arminian doctrine.

      4) Lutheranism
      5) Methodism
      6) Presbyterianism
      7) Pentacostalism

      Can Salvation Be Lost?
      One of the pillars of the Protestant Reformation was Martin Luther’s belief that we are saved by faith alone. All one had to do was to profess a belief in Christ and he would be saved for all eternity. Anything he might do from that point on would have no effect on it. Luther once wrote: “No sin will separate us from the Lamb, even though we commit fornication and murder a thousand times a day” .
      Luther’s novel teaching was in stark contrast to what we find in Scripture. The apostle Paul clearly believed that salvation, once achieved, could be lost. He affirms this when writing to the church at Corinth: “But you yourselves wrong and defraud, and that even your own brethren. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor the idolaters, nor the adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:8-10).
      It is important to note that Paul was talking to a group of Christians. In other words, He was talking to people who Martin Luther would say were saved. And yet Paul is warning them about losing their salvation. Jesus Himself made the same point when He addressed the Church at Ephesus: “Realize how far you have fallen. Repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lamp stand from its place” (Revelation 2:5).
      The lamp stand is symbolic of Christ’s presence. To have your lamp stand removed is to be separated from Christ. That they had a lamp stand to remove indicates that they were at one point, “in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus’ command to repent is a warning that they must once again abide in Him. And as we are told in John 15:4-6 we must abide in Him or be cast forth like a branch and be burned.
      Earlier in 1 Corinthians Paul allows for the possibility that even he might not be saved. He wrote:
      It is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. I do not even judge myself. I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore, do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then every man will receive his commendation from God (1 Corinthians 4:2-5).
      Paul points out that it is God who pronounces judgment. And he takes the extra step to tell others not to pronounce judgment. That means you can never definitively say that a person is damned or saved. Only God can make that judgment. Paul also said: “Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Well, I do not run aimlessly, I do not box as one beating the air, but I pommel my body and subdue it lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified” (1 Corinthians 9:25-27).
      I do not think that anyone would argue with the fact that Paul is a Christian at this point. And yet in this passage he tells us that he can lose his salvation. The reason why Paul, or any Christian for that matter, can lose their salvation is because even after accepting Christ a person is still capable of sinning and remaining unrepentant. And as we saw above (Revelation 2:5) repentance is necessary for forgiveness.
      Apostasy is another way that salvation can be lost:
      For it is impossible to restore again to repentance those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they then commit apostasy, since they crucify the Son of God on their own account and hold Him up to contempt. For land which has drunk the rain that often falls upon it, and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near being cursed; its end is to be burned (Hebrews 6:4-8).
      Protestants will point to several verses of Scripture which appear to bolster their argument. For instance:
      He who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son of God has not life. I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:12-13).
      My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand (John 10:29).
      In the first reading John tells us that he who has the Son has eternal life. And of course, this raises the question; who are the ones who have the Son? John himself answers that question; those who remain in Him have the Son (John 6:57). He also says that those who believe in Jesus have eternal life. Consequently, those who do not believe do not have eternal life. When you believe in someone you believe in what they say. When asked what was necessary for salvation Jesus replied, obey the commandments, and give to the poor (Mark 1017-22).
      As for John 10:29; It is true, no one can snatch the saved from the Fathers hand. However, if we have free will we can voluntarily jump out of the Father’s hand. And that is just the point we saw illustrated earlier in the readings from 1 Corinthians and Ephesians.
      James makes the case even stronger:
      My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins (James 5:19-20).
      Abide in the truth, your saved. Stray from the truth, your condemned. Brought back to the truth, your saved.
      Another argument used to support the Protestant view comes from John 6:39 which reads: “and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me but raise it up at the last day.” And so, the reasoning goes, one who is saved is given to Jesus. Thus, if anyone who has been given to Jesus is subsequently lost it would mean that the will of God had not been realized. Since God is all powerful that could never happen. Hence, once someone is saved, they are always saved.
      But this is based on a misunderstanding of the nature of God’s will. There are three aspects of God’s will. First there is what some would call God’s Executive will. He says: “let there be light” and without the slightest hesitation there is light. God is all powerful and it simply cannot be any other way. Then there is God’s permissive will. This would involve His allowing bad things to happen. And this is usually the result of our bad choices. Lastly there is God’s active will. This would involve those things that God desires for us. God only desires good things for us. But He does not force them on us. He loves us, and He wants us to love Him. Only someone with free will can choose to love God. Once we accept God our free will is not taken away. One who can choose to love can also choose not to love.
      Just as it is the will of God that Jesus not lose one that is given to Him, so it is also the will of God that all men be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). And yet we know that most people will choose hell. Jesus Himself tells us this: “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few (Matthew 7:13-14).” Is this a failure on God’s part? No, it is a failure on the part of those who have rejected God’s offer.
      Salvation can also be lost if we neglect to do that which God calls us to. While faith is certainly a vital element in achieving salvation, it is also true that our faith must be evident in our actions. The book of James is very clear on this:
      What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him? If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? So, faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead (James 2:14-17).
      I have said it before, but it bears repeating, the works that lead to salvation are not the product of our own intrinsic goodness. They are accomplished by the power (grace) of God. A failure to do good works is a rejection of God’s grace. And that brings us back to our original question; can salvation be lost? It most certainly can be lost. And it will be lost when, at any point, a Christian rejects God’s grace and remains unrepentant.

      Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

      The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
      10Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. 11I am coming soon.     Predestination and free will are both in scripture, almost side by side in some instances. Each side arrogantly ignores the verses they don’t like. Both are true although to human understanding that appears impossible. Paraphrasing Charles spurgeon - god chooses and man chooses. Both are true, it is a mystery.

    Brilliant , gentlemen .
    So vitally important to expose (Ephesians 5:11) these Prophets of Doubt .
    Sproul exactly represents the highly nuanced , highbrow version of works righteousness that draws in those who are impressed by those with advanced degrees conferred on them by equally fallible humans . On a thick bed of "tradition" , like the Westminster Confession of faith , and a long list of Reformed Calvinist scholars who reinforce their Theological Determinism .
    When all the fluff and feathers are boiled off , they're really just saying :
    "You're an Automaton who is entirely incapable of doing otherwise than determined by a Secret and wholly unknowable Decree that Unconditionally and irresistibly perseveres till death in a hopefully - but never knowable - level % of faithfulness , obedience , and behavioral performance (works) .
    This is the worst of all possible news , ever .
    The sure recipe for "despair" , as Mike Lii points out .
    This reduces to utter fatalism , and textbook unbelief in Him for what He actually certifies .

Metanoia, and metanoeo literally are talking about a changed mind, an agreement or acknowledgment of our sin/needing a Savior and changing of the inner man. We still battle with flesh daily until we are no longer in the flesh. God repented in the Old Testament- obviously He never sinned. So, repentance doesn’t automatically have anything to do with turning from sin. I trust Holy Spirit to do His job in a believers life. I’m not going to corrupt the gospel and change the definition of repentance to try to make people live right. People repent from sin by help of Holy Spirit once they are saved and they do this out of love, not fear or condemnation. We need to point people to their freedom and love in Christ, not condemnation. That doesn’t help anyone turn from sin. It’s the love of Christ that constrains us and the strength of sin is the law! People need to understand ALL was paid for- past, present and future. Holy Spirit is there to help us and when we mess up, it was already paid for. That freedom and love helps us REST in Christ and keeps us from a rebellious nature and causes us to not crave sin any longer. It helps us to serve the Lord and WANT to please Him.

      He absolutely understands that God's grace is unmerited favor granted to those who humble themselves and change their mind about their sinfulled life (repent) turn away from sin and serve Jesus in obedience.
      Grace is not granted by memorizing a few verses in John's gospel,which was not written for evangelism but to encourage already repented believers to continue believing that Jesus is the Son of God.
      Jesus said Repent first then Believe.

    I am a Reformed Baptist (1689 confession), and I don’t know many Calvinists that are not sure about their salvation- unless they have been heavily influenced by both Revivalism and Pietism. But Calvinist proper do not doubt because they do have faith to believe in the promises. I believe Theocast teaches the proper balance.

      I mean no disrespect, but most Calvinist I encountered, who were honest, tell me when I ask are you sure you are one of the elect, most say they are never really sure if they are 'elect', which leads to trying to earn certainty of salvation by works to be sure! That's not the Gospel!

    Calvinism is back loaded works salvation, that isn't trust in the finished work of the Savior... but a nerve racking desperate trust in the works of the sinner. The opposite of "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou SHALL be saved." Belief is trust. Not a work. Trust the Savior, not the life of the sinner. Works done in faith should be a joy, done in gratitude - not a desperate attempt for evidence that one has been truly born again. That's unbelief... that's so sad. James 2 really stumbled them because they're literalists that don't trust salvation is free to ALL THE WORLD.

      While I'm not a Calvinist MacArthur and Sproul do not teach works.
      They teach repentance just like Jesus the disciples and Paul did.
      Repentance is the first requirement for salvation, it's no more a works then belief which is also a requirement is.
      They do teach obedience, but
      Obedience is not works.
      They teach to strive to enter the narrow gate and to strive for Holiness which are supported by scripture.
      They don't teach believe only because Jesus never said Believe or Trust in Me for the forgiveness of sins.

    Jesus also taught the law and obedience. Jesus taught to sin no more. Jesus doesn't leave us in bondage to sin, He frees us from it. The problem is people want an excuse for the sins that they continue in and they want to feel safe still being in bondage. There is no safety. To anyone who believes there is guaranteed salvation while continuing to be in bondage to sin then you are mistaken. If anyone feels there is salvation when returning to your own vomit you are mistaken. Only in Christ is there salvation and He tells you how to be saved.

      Do you think Jesus wants us to live in lawlessness? Jesus said to keep the commandments. Do you have anything to share of Jesus saying not to? What other way is there to be saved besides how the Word of God tells us to be saved?
      People stumble, I understand that, and those who stumble can still be saved (1 John 2:1) if they turn back to God. There is still forgiveness for those who are truly sorry for what they have done. If they keep going back to their sin, are they truly sorry? Are they trusting in God? No.
      One thing is certain, God expects obedience. One of the fruits of the Spirit is self control (Galatians 5:23). We can either trust in God and put on His armor, or we can stay walking in the flesh, giving into sin. There is no life down that road, only death. The problem is people want to continue in sin instead of trusting in Jesus to free them from it.
      John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
      Romans 6:16-18 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.     I would say the old cliché is there is none good no not one. John MacArthur cannot talk about how he has comfortability before he’s comfortable because his faith is strong doesn’t matter if your faith is strong if it isn’t believing in the faith of Christ, don’t your faith exonerate that the object of your faith is in the faith of Christ, Christ has perfect faith faith can waiver. Our faith can be shipwrecked.

      That is totally false. John's gospel was not written for evangelism.
      John's gospel was written 60 years after Jesus's death on the cross. Well after Matthew Mark and Luke. John makes this clear in John 20:31
      But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him, you will have life by the power of his name.
      So after 60 years people were coming to all kinds of notions, with the help of a false teacher named Cerinthus that Jesus was not fully God or that He wasn't truly man. It was getting very close to what Jehovah's witnesse's believe. John wrote his gospel to already repented believers in the church of Ephesus that Jesus was truly human when He wept at Lazarus's tomb. Also that He was fully Devine and there are 7 witnesses that He was the Son of God and 7 miricles greater than the other gospels that point to His divinity and seven statements beginning with I am which is God's name. I am the living God.
      7 witnesse's 7statements 7 miricles that Jesus was and is fully God.
      In John's gospel the word believe is always in the present continuous tense,which doesn't mean just believe once, it means go on believing.
      Everywhere in John's gospel the emphasis is going on believing.
      For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever goes on believing- present continuous tense-
      Whoever is believing. It means to go on doing something, all the way through John's gospel it means go on believing that Jesus is the son of God, going on believing, you may go on having life.
      That whosoever goes on believing will never perish but go on having eternal life. Ask any expert in Greek and they will say that's what the original text says.
      In other words John's gospel was not written to convert people but to encourage believers to continue believing. That's why John doesn't deal with repentance or water baptism because he assumes the readers are already repented and been baptized. The fact that John doesn't mention repentance doesn't mean its not necessary.
      He's saying go on believing because in Ephesus, where John lived when he wrote it there was a heretic called Cerinthus that was teaching bad things about Jesus and that bad teaching was getting into the church. So John wrote his gospel for believers to encourage them go on believing in
      Jesus as the son of God.
      Believing that Jesus is the son of God, going on believing that you may go on having life.

      Why is there no mention of the “regeneration, baptism, sealing, indwelling, or other ministries” of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament? Why did Jesus say, “this is the blood of a new covenant?” The “works” of the OT were of a chosen nation and people, Israel. The Hebrews, an earthly people lived according to the law and this 2 Chronicles quote is to them (even if it does have a wonderful application to nations) and peoples today. Today, through faith, Christians are a new creation, a heavenly people, a Royal Priesthood and Citizens of heaven.

    I will admit I am disappointed whenever I see and hear Dr. Wilkin and Dr. MacArthur criticizing one another. It seems to be very personal at this point and potentially rooted in pride. I am a Christian who grew up in a Presbyterian church, attended Protestant services while in the military, and then Methodist churches until they turned their back on biblical doctrine. I then joined an EFree church in northeast San Antonio where I attended for 22 years. I was on the church committee that recommended we call Dr. Fred Lybrand to NEBC. Dr. Fred ran in the free grace circle so I heard the names Bob Wilkin and Zane Hodges regularly. A relocation to Virginia resulted in my wife and I joining a church that is affiliated with the SBC. We joined not because of a Southern Baptist background but rather the convicting message we hear from the pulpit every week. I honestly don't know the pastoral staff's position on McArthur. But I have taken it up on myself to read The Gospel According to Jesus Christ. I do not profess to be a theologian but was hard pressed to find anything in the book that was unbiblical regarding salvation. MacArthur even states " there is not a process to salvation but rather progress from salvation". This resonated with me as I have seen it in my own life. I do believe that salvation is a free gift through God's grace by believing in Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross and resurrection. I also believe that if a person truly believes in Jesus and what He did on the cross then there will be a changed heart and therefore behavior. Otherwise a Christian would look like the rest of the world. I think Dr. Wilkin and Dr. MacArthur could more effectively expand God's kingdom by putting aside their respective egos and showing an unbelieving world how two men of God can respectively debate and have differing opinions without getting petty. You actually come across as no different than political commentators on cable news. Thanks.

      @jeffmatthis7077 If I were you, I would not adhere and embrace any of John MacArthur's teachings as he is a stout hyper Calvinist teaching blatant false doctrine. John MacArthur denies the blood atonement of Christ, denies that children can be saved, and currently teaches that one can take the mark of the beast and still be saved. All these false teachings are in direct opposition to the Scriptures. I hope the following will open your eyes to the false teachings of JM:
      1) John MacArthur denies the blood atonement of Christ falsely claiming that it was only "symbolic" and not literal. In his commentary on the book of Hebrews, Moody Press, 1983 MacArthur denies the blood atonement of Christ 13 times within a span of 3 pages: (pages 236-238)
      MacArthur states, "Blood is a SYMBOL of death, and therefore follows closely the idea of a testator's having to die in order for a will to become effective. ...
      "It is possible to become morbid about Christ's sacrificial death and preoccupied with His suffering and shedding of blood. It is especially possible to become unbiblically preoccupied with the physical aspects of His death. It was not Jesus' physical blood that saves us, but His dying on our behalf, which is SYMBOLIZED by the shedding of His physical blood. ...
      "The purpose of the blood was to SYMBOLIZE sacrifice for sin, which brought cleansing from sin. Therefore, without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
      "Again, however, we need to keep in mind that the blood was a SYMBOL. If Christ's own physical blood, in itself, does not cleanse from sin, how much less did the physical blood of animals. It is not surprising, then, that the Old Covenant allowed a SYMBOL for a SYMBOL. ... This exception is clear proof that the old cleansing was SYMBOLIC. Just as the animal blood SYMBOLIZED Christ's true atoning blood, so the ephah of flour SYMBOLIZED and represented the animal blood. If Christ's own physical blood, in itself, does not cleanse from sin, how much less did the physical blood of animals."
      2) John MacArthur wrote an article back in 1976 entitled, "Not His Bleeding But His Dying" where he denies the blood atonement of Christ. MacArthur states, "It was His death that was efficacious, NOT HIS BLOOD....Christ did not bleed to death. The shedding of blood has nothing to do with bleeding, it simply means death, violent sacrificial death. Nothing in His human blood saves, it is not His blood that I love, it is Him. It is not His bleeding that saved me, but His dying."

      MY comment - The Bible is clear that it is the literal shedding of CHRIST'S BLOOD along with HIS DEATH that atones for the sins of man, but we have the flaming heretic John MacArthur denying it and claiming that it was only Christ's death, but not His blood that saves, and claiming that Christ's shed blood was only "symbolic" and not literal. The below Scriptural passages show how utterly WRONG MacArthur is. Whether MacArthur and his followers realize it or not, the denial of Christ's blood means that there will be no redemption, and they in essence are offering the fruits of their labor like Cain back in Genesis. That is WORKS SALVATION which is very rampant in all the false denominations within mainstream Christianity.

      The Israelites were told to kill the Passover lamb where its blood was to be painted upon the doorposts of their houses. Exodus 12:13 - And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: AND WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD, I WILL PASS OVER YOU, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
      God didn't tell the Israelites to hang the physical body of the lamb on the doorposts. This is very significant. IT WAS THE LITERAL BLOOD, NOT THE DEATH OF THE PASSOVER LAMB AND ITS BODY. In regards to our eternal salvation however, it is BOTH the SHED BLOOD and DEATH of Christ along with His resurrection that makes the free gift of eternal salvation possible for those who believe on Him - Romans 5:6, Romans 5:8, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and all the Scriptures that talk about His blood.

      My comment - I agree with you regarding that salvation is a free gift through God's grace by believing in Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross and resurrection. However, a changed heart and changed behavior is not always an accurate indicator that one is saved. A saved person SHOULD change in their heart and behavior, but change is not imperative for the free gift of eternal life. There are also scores of people who change in their heart and behavior and become law abiding citizens after spending many years in prison and then go through rehab, BUT are not Christian. There are many devout Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentacostals, Calvinists, Arminians, etc, who have changed hearts and changed behaviors, but are not saved. Why?
      Because they all have another "Jesus" that is not the same Jesus of the Bible. Currently, the vast majority of so called "churches" all embrace a "Jesus" that front loads and back loads the gospel with WORKS, thereby resulting in another "gospel" that cannot and will not save, period. (The front loading of works "to be saved" and the back loading of works "to remain saved and to prove to oneself and others that they are saved.") This is a false gospel of "faith + works" = possible salvation at the end of one's life that is contingent upon a person's performance in this life. This false teaching is rampant in all the churches within mainstream Christianity today.
      The Bible teaches that salvation is by grace through FAITH ALONE IN CHRIST ALONE APART FROM OUR WORKS - Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:20, Romans 3:28, Romans 4:2-6, Romans 9:31-32, Romans 10:4, Romans 11:6, Galatians 2:16, Galatians 2:21, Galatians 3:5-8, Galatians 5:4, Titus 3:5, Genesis 15:6, Acts 16:30-31, John 5:24.
      John MacArthur, and many others like him who teach Calvinism/Lordship Salvation denies the reality of saved Christians who are carnal, worldly, and who look like the rest of the world and will no doubt write off and dismiss such people as "unsaved false professors with non saving faith" based upon a perverted understanding and eisegesis of such passages like Luke 8:6-8/Luke 8:13-15, 2 Corinthians 13:5, 1 Corinthians 9:27, Philippians 2:12, James 2:14-26, etc, where all these passages are taken in isolation and out of context and then eisegeted, that is, they impose their own philosophical presuppositions into the text to accommodate and custom fit their false doctrine into the text according to their system of "theology."

      The Corinthian Christians of the apostle Paul's time certainly would convince many people that they were "unsaved" or "had lost their salvation." Their lives were deplorable and were living in gross sin and immorality, but Paul affirmed the fact that they were saved in 1 Corinthians 3:1 as he addressed them as "brethren" that were "carnal babes in Christ". Paul would not have addressed them in that way if they were not saved.
      Paul addresses them as "brethren" in 1 Cor 2:1, as "brethren" and "carnal' "babes in Christ" in 1 Cor 3:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 4:6, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 10:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 11:2, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 12:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 14:20, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 15:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 15:58. (KJV)
      The above list in 1 Corinthians where Paul repeatedly addressed the Corinthian Christians as "brethren" is overwhelming evidence that these are saved people possessing eternal life. Paul would not have addressed them as "brethren" if they were not saved.
      When Paul addressed the Corinthian church they were living in sexual immorality, lawsuits, divisions, etc, at the very time when he wrote to them. Lordship Salvationists like John MacArthur and others just love to change the plain text and teach that Paul was referring to the Corinthians after they matured. NO, Paul was addressing and rebuking them in their present state while they were living in sin. It makes no logical sense for the apostle Paul to address and rebuke them if the Corinthians "grew" and matured. Paul addresses them as "Brethren" meaning they were saved, but he couldn't address them as spiritual and mature because they were not. They were saved, but CARNAL and BABES IN CHRIST who were still not growing as Paul said they were still drinking milk.
      1 Corinthians 3:1 KJV - "And I, BRETHREN, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto CARNAL, even as unto BABES IN CHRIST."
      1 Corinthians 3:2 - I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, YOU ARE STILL NOT READY.
      1) 1 Corinthians 3:3 - there was ENVYING, STRIFE, and DIVISIONS among the Christians.
      2) 1 Corinthians 5:1-5 - A CHRISTIAN MAN WAS HAVING SEX WITH HIS STEPMOTHER and consequently Paul pronounced judgment on this man in 1 Corinthians 5:5 where Paul says, "hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be SAVED on the day of the Lord". The Corinthian Christian's attitude regarding this man who was sleeping with his stepmother was one of PRIDE - 1 Cor 5:2
      In 2 Corinthians 2:5-8, Paul gives an update on this man where we read that this man was chastened with CHURCH DISCIPLINE and that God had mercy on him and did not terminate his physical life. Paul instructs the church to forgive and comfort him so that he won't be overcome by excessive sorrow and to reaffirm their love and concern for him.
      2 Corinthians 2:5-8 - But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was INFLICTED BY MANY. So that contrariwise ye ought rather to FORGIVE HIM, AND COMFORT HIM, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
      Wherefore I beseech you that ye would CONFIRM YOUR LOVE TOWARD HIM.
      3) 1 Corinthians 4:18 - there was ARROGANCE among the Corinthian Christians.
      4) 1 Corinthians 6:7-8 - THERE WERE CHRISTIANS TAKING OTHER CHRISTIANS TO COURT and there was CHEATING among them.
      5) 1 Corinthians 7:2 - there was FORNICATION among the Christians.
      6) 1 Corinthians 11:20-22 - there were Christians EATING SELFISHLY, and there was DRUNKENNESS at the Lord's Supper.
      Because of their selfish indulgence of food and getting drunk God brought about SICKNESS and PHYSICAL DEATH as punishment - 1 Cor 11:29-30.
      Scripture is clear that there are indeed carnal Christians that are saved. It's not good or spiritually edifying that they are living in sin. God will CHASTISE them because they are His children, but they are still saved - Hebrews 12:5-11. The book of 1 Corinthians confirms the reality of carnal Christians who were living in sin and Paul affirmed that they are eternally saved by addressing them as "sanctified in Christ Jesus" and "saints" in 1 Cor 1:2.
      Paul also made it clear that he would deal with those who were sinning in the Corinthian Church with DISCIPLINE/CHASTISEMENT. This, of course, was not a threat against their salvation and eternal security. They were in danger of chastisement from God for their sinful actions and behavior - 2 Corinthians 13:2. Paul had already pronounced chastisement on the man who was sleeping with his stepmother in 1 Corinthians 5:1-5. All the other sinning believers were in the same danger of chastisement from God just like the ones who were eating selfishly and getting drunk at the Lord's Supper - 1 Corinthians 11:20-22 and their consequent chastisement of sickness and premature physical death where their life spans were cut short - 1 Corinthians 11:29-30.
      2 Corinthians 13:2 - I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others.
      It appears that Paul was warning the Corinthian believers about imminent chastisement from God if they didn't heed his warnings to them.
      In 1 Corinthians 11:29-30, it clearly states that God had already dealt with some of the Corinthian Christians who were eating selfishly and getting drunk at the Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians 11:20-22) by sending sickness and premature PHYSICAL DEATH where their life spans were cut short.
      Self-righteous Calvinists/Lordship Salvationists and Arminian/Lordship Salvationists will of course deliberately deny the existence of carnal Christians and would deliberately write off carnal Christians who are living in sin as "unsaved" or having "lost their salvation" despite overwhelming evidence from Scripture.

    There is some confusion over works for salvation which of of course we are told we cannot work for salvation, and as Paul said demonstrate your repentance by your conduct/ lifestyle.
    Acts 26:20
    First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.
    Much of the teaching in the new testament is clear that we must live a life away from sin.
    Thats what Sproul is concerned about as we all should be that our conduct/ lifestyle reflects Christ in us.
    Much of what Paul taught is how a true believer must live.
    1 Corinthians 6:9-11
    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?       If you want to be saved than trust this Gospel and you will be Saved! 1 Corinthians 15 1-4 :
      Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
      2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
      3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
      4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures
      and we have to put our trust in his blood Romans 3 24-26 :
      24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
      25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
      26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
      And You are saved through faith in his blood alone it is a free GIFT of God and not through your works lest any man should boast!
      So remember that faith means you believe and trust it and the moment you trust the blood Gospel you are saved and if you want to tell that too God it should come from the Heart!

    As the protestant author Tozier wrote about protestantism, " In our zeal to escape the saved by works of the catholics we have committed the opposite error of faith without obedience."
    When we first believe the gospel it isn't because we chose to ,but because the " seed" of the Word has entered the receptive " soil" of our heart and revealed its truth.. Now we must make a decision, do we turn our lives over to the Lord or remain as we are in sin. Our decision to.turn our lives over to the Lord is what repentance is and it is an act of obedience we must choose to do after we believe, not " works" in order to somehow earn salvation.
    The Lutheran martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer clearly defined what saving faith is " Only he who believes obeys and only he who obeys believes".

      @@no-de4ih I agree, faith is not works and i never implied that it was. The protestants have confused " works" in order to somehow earn salvation with our faith in action through obedience in order to recieve the free gift of salvation.
      Faith in action through obedience in order to be saved involves, repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and recieving the Holy Spirit( Acts 2:38).
      There are only three instances in scripture to where we are told of believers recieving the Holy Spirit and what happened the moment that they recieved( Acts ch.2,10,and ch.19). In each event the first thing that happened when they recieved the Holy Spirit is that they spoke in tongues.
      The word " recieve", in the new testaments original Greek, means " to take hold of".
      Look at the disciples Paul encountered in Acts ch.19. The first thing he asked them is," Have you recieved the Holy Spirit since you believed"?
      If we recieve the Holy Spirit simply by believing then Paul didn't know what he was talking about.

      That reduces to Faith in WHAT exactly ?
      Instead of belief in Jesus FOR His doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life - apart from YOU PERFORMING GOOD ENOUGH WORKS TILL YOU DIE - you clearly inject works as a NECESSARY CONDITION.

    How can a man claimed to be saved from sin (matthew 1:21) yet say he doesn't need to turn from his sins or obey Jesus?? How can a man claim he is part of the body of Christ , yet feel no need to actually serve Jesus? How can you believe Jesus truky died for you and bot hve any gratitude to love for Him who died for you?? The answer.. all who feel nothing is necessary ate those who have never been set free from bondage of sin. They are still in darkness until now

      My comment - King David and Samson were SAVED God of men who were saved from hell and the eventual Lake of Fire, but not from sin.
      KING DAVID is a true man of God who INDULGED IN LIVE PORNOGRAPHY and no doubt at that moment had sexual lust in his heart (Mark 7:20-23, Galatians 5:19) as he watched Bathsheba take a bath from the roof of his palace and then gave in to the temptation and committed ADULTERY/MURDER - 2 Samuel 11:1-21. This happened despite the fact that King David had over 6 wives at the time - 2 Samuel 3:1-5, 2 Samuel 5:13. King David had no qualms about his sins of adultery and murder because of the deliberate steps that he took to bring Bathsheba to him and then gave orders for the murder of her husband, Uriah the Hittite. God had to send Nathan the prophet to WAKE HIM UP - 2 Samuel 12.
      King David was a classic example of a SPOILED man who ABUSED GRACE. Hence, the fact that Nathan the prophet sharply rebuked David. King David had an insatiable appetite for sex and had all the sex that he wanted, but it appeared that his many wives were not enough to satisfy him.
      2 Samuel 12:7-10 - Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. 8 I gave your master’s house to you, AND YOUR MASTER'S WIVES INTO YOUR ARMS. I gave you all Israel and Judah. AND IF ALL THIS HAD BEEN TOO LITTLE, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU EVEN MORE. 9 Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’'
      He later takes Bathsheba to be one of his many wives adding to the list after murdering her husband, Uriah the Hittite - 2 Samuel 11:26-27. He then gets her pregnant again resulting in the birth of Solomon. There is a big contrast between King David and his sexual lust for Bathsheba in comparison with Joseph and Potiphar's wife.
      It is important to note that Joseph was SINGLE at that time when Potiphar's wife tempted him sexually on a daily basis. However, Joseph had strong GODLY CONCERN and refused to give in and because of his strong Godly concern, the Lord blessed Joseph wherever he went. Both King David and Joseph were SAVED Godly men, but the only difference is that King David had a total lack of Godly concern when it came to sexual purity, but Joseph had strong Godly concern.

      @chrisanok9283 If Joseph was alive today and you had a very attractive wife, would you trust Joseph to be ALONE with your wife for one night? YES. Is Joseph a saved Godly man? YES. Can Joseph be TRUSTED when it comes to SEXUAL PURITY? YES. Joseph maintained his sexual purity despite being SINGLE and despite the fact that Potiphar's wife tempted him sexually everyday. Joseph had strong GODLY conviction, whereas King David did not, but was still a Godly man. God blessed Joseph in all that he did.
      Are both King David and Joseph SAVED MEN OF GOD? Absolutely. The only difference is that King David cannot be trusted when it comes to sexual purity, but Joseph, who was single, can be trusted. Both men are in heaven.

      @@wtom04 I'm sorry but using David and Samson as examples is exactly what the devil will want. Why would you look at David's downfall instead of looking at his life as a whole?? He hated sin and he hated his own sins and was in great depression because of his condition. If your going to use David, remember to use the psalms where he talks about even hating those who work iniquity without repentance.
      Lastly, you will need to provide an example from the New testament because we have a greater gift then what they had. The Holy spirit lives within us. He only came upon them in the OT from time to time. They also were under the school master which is the law. We are under Christ and learn from Him. Big difference

      @@chrisanok9283 Old Testament saints were NOT under the law for positional justification before God, but they were under the law which kept them in obedience and faithfulness to avoid God's temporal chastisement upon them. OT saints were saved by faith alone in Christ apart from works, otherwise the apostle Paul would not have quoted Genesis 15:6 in Romans 4:2-6, and Galatians 3:5-8 in support of SALVATION BY FAITH ALONE IN CHRIST ALONE APART FROM OUR WORKS. Old Testament people were saved by LOOKING FORWARD to Christ and His finished work on the cross. Modern Church age people are saved by LOOKING BACK to Christ and His finished work on the cross. The gospel has always been the same in all dispensations.
      Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
      John 19:30 - When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “IT IS FINISHED.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
      Galatians 3:5-8 - 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, OR BY BELIEVING WHAT YOU HEARD?
      6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
      7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.
      8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and ANNOUNCED THE GOSPEL IN ADVANCE TO ABRAHAM: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
      John 8:56 - Your father Abraham REJOICED AT THE THOUGHT OF SEEING MY DAY; HE SAW IT AND WAS GLAD.

      Just one more thing I am not a Calvinist so outside of those who pervert Gods grace all believe that we must repent of sin and believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died in the cross was buried and rose again, the promise of eternal life with God is for any who will repent of sin by Faith and live to serve Jesus.
