afaudale I agree. I heard him for the first time on pandora around march 2016 and I had such a profound connection to his music that I've never experienced before or since discovering him. He's amazing.
Byron Vasquez Jr. same! Had it not been for that one episode of Californication I probably wouldn't be into GAI nevermind indie folk. totally opened up a whole new world for me I got into GAI some more classic and well known folk singers as well such as Dylan and the Dead. GAI is becoming my absolute favourite artist in any genre now =)
Same here. Discovered him on Pandora 2009. We have every album, have been to 4 of his shows, even bought tickets not knowing we wouldn’t be able to see him because of the birth of our son.
I'll listen to this song in a year's time, in a decade, and I just want to leave a note here for myself when I do: It's late May '19, and I'm happy. I've found you, the lady in the silhouette, and it's always been you. Here's to the lows and highs, and these songs sticking by my side. I shook your hand, Gregory, and saw the night light up, then a few days later I'm here with her head against mine. How I wish I could hold onto these years but I'm getting a little older, a little rougher round the sides, but dear keep me tender and yearning, and I'm sure it'll all be alright.
And so it was, for a beautiful infinite moment, yet simply never meant to be. I can't begin to express the weight of those two years following my comment. It has forever shaped my appreciation of life and love and all the moments that elude us in between. Perhaps I was dazzled by those blurry city lights or not ready for this world beyond me. But the lady in the silhouette still dances with the warmth of her kindness, and her presence reminds me of life's indescribable possibilities. So.. I wish I still wrote, and I wish I still loved, and this could very much be the end of my story.. but I think I'm still okay, and I'm all right. At least I'm so incredibly lucky to be able to say, "I knew what love was like."
i absolutely love how first they're ''combing for pennies on the old cobblestones'' and at the end, the ''paper boy's combing his nickels for rocks''. i think that's absolute genius. wow.
i went to a Gregory Alan Isakov concert not long ago and he played new stuff but ahhhgg if i only can remember what it was called. It was soooo amazing. he said his new album is more rocky and it was about space and the moon and stuff. I completely just fell out of this world and into his music as soon as he began playing. it was the best feeling ever.
The box office lady is calling me out yeah and I won’t know what to do with my mouth every salty kiss you brave in the streetlight oh and mercury’s against me she’s winning tonight hey...hey... and now they’re combing for pennies in the old cobblestone those carnival kids man they never go home yeah they’re tossing and turning and dodging the stones oh and mercury’s missing me just by a throw yeah and alright, okay, I know but here in the hems the hand that rolls the bones oh and the fortune lady is the only one who knows oh.. hey... well out on the wire there’s something to save and yeah hope is a word man it never could be oh we’re fumbling for fiction or something to take yeah and mercury’s smiling but I know she’s a fake yeah and alright, okay I see here in the hems of the hand that (builds each)? oh and the fortune lady’s the only one yeah the fortune lady’s the only who sees and old madam haggard is cleaning the clutch yeah the paperboy is combing his nickels for rats and coyote’s in the car with the motor running loud yeah the stars were all hiding when mercury’s
I saw Greg Alan Isakov at the Troubadour and he played really great. I think he sounded better than Mumford and Sons when I went to see them live(not trying to sound like I'm some music god or whatever people might think from me saying this). You guys should check out his tour he has going on right now, might have already passed by where you live.
+Ryan Osborne just got 3rd row tix to see him in Denver with the Colorado Symphony in January. I was excited to hear him playing new stuff when I saw him in Austin this summer.
I just listened to the song "Idaho" before this 'cause I was like, hey! I'm from North Idaho. But anyway, I listened to this song next 'cause I was like, hey! my ruling planet is Mercury. Then I heard this song is a poem about everything, and I was thinking... now i really want to write a poem about everything. so, yeah that's cool. :0)

that's not true though i do agree with you his music is very compelling there are other artist out there that make music this good such as the tallest man on earth or ben howard you just have to look there are alot more out there
The weatherman saved my life
welcome back brother
If beauty still exists, this is how it manifests.
There's not an artist out there that compares to GAI. He produces the most raw and authentic music out there and definitely is a hidden treasure.

+1
Yes absolutely superb, agree - a rare gem. Have you heard much of Ray La Montagne? Different style, but equally as profound....perfect musicians.
I click 'like' on his songs before I even listen to them
Same
Amen!
I clicked like on your comment before I read it
He reminds of my childhood milkman. He always delivers 😊
If music is dead, Gregory is it's rebirth.
This is so true
Incredible statement

How lovely! I hope that you’re still writing, you do it so well ❤

He sounds great live too. I’d like to actually see him in person.

Music that cradles your soul
take it easy.
take it easy
His voice, heart, soul and beauty so easily bring tears to my eyes. And I love every minute.
Don’t forget his ✨vibe✨
Holy sweet f*ck, what a great song. "The mercury's against me, she's winning tonight." Damn thats a slick lyric.
I love listening to him because I dont have to wonder if a new song will be good. They all give me goosebumps (:

Juscelino Alves thank you
Thanks,man 👍
One of the best artists out there! I love his stuff & its gets better the more you listen to it!
Surely this song has to make it onto an album at some point, please 🙏☺️
The chorus made its way into his song Buried in the Waves, which I’ve also been waiting to appear on an album at some point. So amazing.
This song brings out the passion in me.
what a perfect artist
Oh and thanks a lot for the upload, really great.
Real good music at it’s finest. Keep doing it, Gregory.
the audio quality is amazing. thank you for posting
I'll be in Denver for this as well!!!!
I heard the first seconds of the song and just started crying, what is wrong with me? I'm just so happy I found Gregory's lovely music :)
I'm entranced.
He is an amazing musician and I love his music, please don't get me wrong...

Wow never heard of him but each song seems better than the one before.

canzone capolavoro.
Way to make me cry
That "poem about everything" line?... I heard him introduce "The Stable Song" exactly the same way at another performance. Lol.
I get very Dylanesque vibes both chord structure wise & lyrically in this one...But, it is still distinctly Gregory.
This is a gorgeous song -why not released??
Interesting, I can hear a part of this song that was transformed into a part of buried in the waves
I noticed that a while back also. Can't decide which one I like better
Ian Williams i like buried in the waves more, mainly because of the dramatic orchestral

Ian Williams i live in Colorado and I'll be there also. I saw his show at redrocks and it was a blast.
Kaylan, TY for introducing me to the music of GAI. Please contact me; I miss you. Matt
love it. thanks for sharing this talented man. great pic too. did the poster take that shot?
This would’ve been a great addition to Appaloosa Bones

i think he was kidding
Did someone try asking him in Michigan recently to sing this
it's happening to me right now...
and then right into Virginia May...
Wonder if this song will be on the new album, but with a different title...
I really hope so! Can't wait to see him live in October!
It's not in the new album, but I guess we have this version. lol
Actually, his influences clearly come from MANY who have gone before him.
early september of 2022, i will be back few year or a decade and refresh these untainted feelings
his web page
I just😊
What are the chords to this somg? It's absolute poetry.
