Great video. Videos like this one convinced me to buy the q2 monochrom and I have to say it has not let me down. But as you can see indeed on this video, it's magic at night. But with aperture so wide open as per your settings, would've expected a more shallow depth of field. Kudos on the motorcyclists woah such a great shot.
Thanks Robin for the nice pictures from Melbourne. I was there at the exact same time of year three years ago (it was still warm then). Know all the locations you have visited. Love the image of the dog looking out the car window.
Hi Robin, sorry I missed you. I frequent the same streets in Melbourne too. Would be great to catch up one day. I do travel regularly and know a lot of great places around Australia. It's a pity the guys in the Leica stores in the Melbourne CBD and Chadstone are so offputting, I'd have another Leica in my arsenal but that won't happen from a local store. Love your pics and edits, great work.
Also Melbourne is a very social city, there is A LOT going on no matter the time of the week. So weather or not, it will always be busy with things to see or places to go. Especially on a Friday night where people are leaving work and going to events.
I just ordered a Q2 Monochrom. I would have to say, this video was the most influential of all that I watched. Seeing how absolutely stellar the photos are with extremely poor lighting is very encouraging. Though, I could see you sometimes camped out next to a light source to get a little more to work with.
Great video Robin! Melbourne is as close to a european city as it comes in comparison to other Australian cities. As mentioned before, four seasons in one day here, so regardless of the season it can be rainy, sunshine, blizzard or heatwave. A little frustrating planning shoots on location here in Melbourne as a working photographer. Cool to see my own city in your channel. Safe travels to Singapore and onwards.
Thank you Max.To me, Melbourne is rather similar to typical American Cities. In Europe, cities are very different which makes sense since they are often much older.
Always my favourite street channel! It's getting too cold here in Norway at the moment. I envy the sweater weather you have there! We are below zero atm. Super chill vibes in this one, could you tell us what the last song is?
I'm assuming this was Friday night? Thanks for the video and great photos! I wasn't expecting one after our weekend escapade. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
It's impressive the good photos you get in such a short time just for a youtube video ! How do you get that close to the people ? Also I tried to check your portfolio but there is only one photo per category ...
what i like most about your stlye of shooting is the speed with which you realize and act upon scenes! The guy with the cigarette is a prime example of this. I would surely have fumbled the focus in that situation or be too greedy and shoot too early. Were you able to help out the skate photographer?
Robin, lovely video. I am writing you from NYC. Melbourne is such a beautiful city. Keep up the great work. Btw, for the video portions of this video, are you using youtt rf Panasonic s5? Thank you Robin.
Hi Robin... thanks for your great video... always enjoyed watching it.... I have a question for you... I just bought a Leica Q2 and It seems like I'm having an issue using it.. basically my setting are iso on auto with and minimum of 200 and not above 3200. The shutter speed and aperture are manual. I've set the back dial to exposure compensation... The problem is if i dialed the back dial for under exposed or over exposed i can't really see the live view for exposure composition on the back screen and l'm only able to see the outcome of the composition if i press half shutter button. It's quite annoying because each time i wanna check the right composition i have to press half shutter button. Is there anyway we can see the live view exposure composition without pressing the half shutter button. Thanks in advance
Awesome video, thanks a lot for sharing! I stepped into b/w photography for a few months now and these true monochrome cameras, specially the Q2 got me extremely curious to get one, but that price :D Did you share any RAW files in your past videos of the Q2 Mono? I currently use the A7IV + X100V and I'm on the fence, if I should try it out. These true low light performance is just intriguing :D Danke und Grüße aus BaWü :)
Is it because 28mm is wide so you don’t need to point at people, so they don’t know you were shooting at them? I find most of the people don’t seem to look at your camera that rarely happen to me when I go on the streets.
You cut to the sponsor message and all I wanted to see if you could help out that skate photographer :D
Same
Trust me, the excitement is bigger when not knowing because the gear issue that he had was rather boring and easy to fix.
Once again this Leica Q2 Monochrom coupled with the talent of the photographer works marvelously well for night photography. Thank you Sir!
Thank you Christian!
Hello Robin, enjoy your video, always, I used to live in Melbourne for sometime long time ago.... you passed by Jakarta, my home town!
I absolutely loved a few of these images. Thanks, Sir Robin.
The classic intro is back! I've always liked it a lot :).
It might return again in the not so distant future. 😁

Thank you Mike! Four years ago around the same time of the year the weather was much nicer.
11:08 this bloke was in Romper Stomper.
Nice nigh time black and whites. Something I haven't tried yet but will now.

Love watching your videos! Am a Q2M and MP shooter

I've seen other samples of the Q2M but none quite as impressive as yours. Absolutely impressive shots!
Thank you Alex!

Thank you Chris! Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the song. 😫
Your images look even better (is that possible?) with the pro mist filter! gonna check out portrait mode now!
Yes, the Pro Mist has something magical about it. 😁

Hi Reuel, it was the weekend before the workshop.

Thank you! Yes, for the parts where I speak to the camera I used the Lumix S5.
Very good in bnw !
In Sweden we got snow already..
Sorry to hear that. Here in Singapore it's 30C and very humid. 😳
Thought i saw you on elizabeth st near my apartment at one point but was like nah.. surely its not him.
This spring in Melbourne has been the coldest on record
Exquisite set as usual! This images are SOOC or edited?
Thank you. I have a video explaining on how I handle the Q2M files.
Why choose the Pro Mist filter and not the Glimmerglass?
Simply because I don't own one and I am happy with the Pro Mist.
@@therealsirrobin Thanks for your reply! I had thought it was a preference choice because you've already tested both.
Have you ever stacked the Pro Mist with a color filter for day time?
So very cool 😎 👌 📷👍👋
When are you coming to Singapore? Will we be able to join for a photo walk??? :P
🔥🔥

@@ChrisLRobinson thank you...

Good choice. 😁
