    I run this gruppo with a 105 Di2 rear derailleur, to use the 11-36 cassette. Sh*t’s friggen amazing. I also reconfigured it SRAM-like. Ultegra 46-36 crankset announced by Shimano, should drop in the nearish future. Killer gruppo, best I’ve ever used.

      You can also use an 11 speed 46-36t crankset. I just built up a gravel bike using an RS510 46-36t 11 speed crankset and it works perfectly with the rest of the 105 di2 parts.

      I’m running the same 11-36 cassette with the Ultegra derailleur. Works perfectly. Shimano is always conservative with the cassette sizes they say you can run.

    I have at least 8k miles on my checkpoint that I installed 11sp Ultegra Di2 and have never, ever dropped a chain. Great video as always!

    I run this group set on my SL7, and love it.

    Nice informative review! I’ve gravelled the hell out of Ultegra 8000 mechanical (none clutch derailleur) so I can’t see this Di2 Ultegra being any different. I don’t even think the disclaimer is necessary unless the talk is of gear ratios which you mentioned anyway!

      Thank you! Here's something interesting. Just before Shimano launched GRX 11-speed mechanical & Di2, they quietly rolled out the Ultegra RX derailleur for mechanical & Di2, with a clutch. Additionally, I never actuate the clutch on any of gravel-specific derailleurs unless I expect really bad mud. Clutch resistance is very noticeable on the workstand with the GRX derailleurs.

    Great video, thanks so much. At 8:13 you show a bike with a much larger cassette than a 36-tooth. Is it a 45-tooth SLX? Does it shift fine? Anybody has done that? Thanks.

    Great review as always! With a relatively long chain stay, say 430mm, do you think there will be any significant tire clearance issue with the front mech? Cheers!

    Dura race is almost twice the price! Ultegra for the win!!!

      Yes, difficult to justify the $$$$ of DA.

    Where did you get the 6 spoke carbon wheels?

      Elite-Wheels.com - Here is my long-term review (th-cam.com/video/L0WN5UcIYQQ/w-d-xo.html), and I have a coupon code now available to knock 15% off an order, if so inclined (Coupon GRAVELCYCLIST). Good luck!

    There is a 46/36 Ultegra and Dura Ace 12 speed released recently. Guess the 36t can be switched to a 34t with ok performance.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will have to add a little addendum concerning the 46T ring, thanks. I used to switch the 36 for a 34T on the 11-speed crank, it worked perfectly. I've yet to see any of these 46T rings publicly available, hopefully soon?

    Did someone try combinate Ultegra with a SHIMANO GRX FC-RX820?

      Here is my now ancient review of the Kappa 2 wheels here - th-cam.com/video/O4MTgh856Qs/w-d-xo.html - They are still going strong after all these years!

    Did you have any problems with tire clearance and the front derailleur interfering with that?

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว

      That could mostly depend on your bike, but no issues in this configuration.

    Great groupset. Shits all over Ekar for example

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely cannot compare mechanical vs an electronic groupset that is this good. There are some gearing points I cover in the review.

    • @eirikkristine
      @eirikkristine ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hate my Ekar that I run on my Gravel bike. I use Ultegra Di2 11s on my road bike and are very happy with that. Will build up a new gravel bike with Shimano. But Im not sure if I go for GRX, Ultra, mechanical og Di2. New gen og previous gen

    • @richardhutchings1980
      @richardhutchings1980 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @eirikkristine I've heard Ekar is trash tier. Too unreliable and difficult to tune and does not work consistently. I also suspect more chain wear and cassette replacement issues given the narrow chain and cogs. Looks excellent but it is a liability. Shimano is more durable and reliable

    I am waiting for the GRX 12spd Di2 to make it to market and drive down the cost of the NOS 11spd GRX Di2 for a build :) Honestly used my GRX Di2 bike for Big Sugar last week and absolutely love Shimano's stuff. Sure that will include the 12 spd variant as well.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shimano confirmed at the mechanical GRX 12 speed launch the Di2 version is coming... but when?

    • @bcm1013
      @bcm1013 ปีที่แล้ว

      @GravelCyclist Shimano had a tent at the Expo at Big Sugar but only had pics of mech 12spd GRX. They were mum on when Di2 was coming. Sure they want inventory levels to go down before that goes to market.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bcm1013 I have a NIB GRX 12-speed mechanical group I need to build up one of these days. With that said, I REALLY prefer Di2 anything.

      You can already buy 11 speed di2 grx 2x brand new for 1200 bucks
