  • How do you run a youtube channel as someone with ADHD? This is something a number of people have asked me over the last year and I thought that instead of just me telling you, i would invite another ADHD TH-camr to discuss how to run your youtube channel with ADHD!
    Hailey from the channel HaileysComment is an amazing TH-camr who has ADHD and has a little bit of a different path from mine because she is unmedicated and still runs a successful channel with over 1000 subs recently! You should all be going to subscribe to her because not only is she a fun ADHDer but she is also someone I plan to do many more videos with in the future.
    You can find Hailey's channel right here: / @haileyscomment
    Thanks for watching!

      I enjoyed watching the two of you in this and i've seen some of your videos now and I think you are a pretty fun person with a bubbly personality! Especially with the way you make a video. I'm still trying to watch every single vid lol. You most likely will have a sub from me within a week! ^_^

    I’m 30 and just discovered I have adhd, I had head of it but thought it just meant kids that bounce around a room, didn’t realise that me talking excessively was part of that lol it’s nice to know I’m not alone in this confusion of myself.

    Hey I got a question for you. I feel it's important. Would you be willing to collab with me on your channel about ADHD? I'm not asking to get any views or or subs or anything like that. Something hit my mind last night and I started going back to your older videos and I relearned something that you had mentioned about proper eating habits and proper sleep habits and how it affects ADHD and the medication for it. I thought we could collab together as two people with ADHD and just have another guest on your channel such as myself help confirm everything everything you have been talking about on your channel. I not only feel it's important for me as a human being to want to collab with you about it but I feel in my mind that it's more important to help relay the message to everyone out there as another human proof that all this information that you have been sharing on your channel is 100% honest. What do you say? Would you be able to find a day for that?

    • @MewithADHD
      @MewithADHD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, yeah I could possibly do that! Let's talk about it soon, do you have a specific video in mind?

    • @GoranAkuto
      @GoranAkuto 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MewithADHD nothing new in particular unless have something in mind. Like I said I was watching some of your older vids for some reminder tips of what makes the adderall work better. I was just going through issues of feeling like it's not working like it's supposed to for the past week. And now this morning I decided to take the adderall this morning and then the stress meds near night incase the stress meds were counteracting the adhd meds. This morning I finally felt my brain getting a little focused. So now Im getting myself into better habit patterns so it can work more effectively. I was thinking maybe we could go a little more in depth about the reasons and causes of why it may not start working at first too. I have some of my own experiences on that I could contribute with you.

    I'm a youtuber with ADHD :) I think for me, the key is to have some level of structure and to schedule videos far in advance. I think where I get tripped up is I'll have 1 or 2 weeks where I'm flooded with energy/motivation to work on my channel, and I crank out like 1 video every couple days and then I'll crash. So during those 1 or 2 weeks, I still let myself crank out a bunch of videos, but I keep them on my normal Tues/Thurs posting schedule. And then if I'm far enough ahead, then I'll maybe post a couple extra videos here and there :)
    But I actually think TH-cam is the perfect creative outlet for ADHDers, honestly. It of course requires creativity. It's also naturally "chunked" into small tasks that you can hyper focus on in just a couple sittings. It also has a really objective, short feedback loop (i.e. view count, subscriber gain, etc.), which increases the "reward" of doing the work -- thus making it easier to stick to. And for me personally, it's enough of a technical challenge to keep me really stimulated and feeling like there is always new stuff to learn and improve.

      Haha! Film in the rain brother!!! 😎 Film about how you were inspired and then it rained so you are instead talking about not letting things hold you back! ;)

      Me with ADHD I actually did! The rain had stopped, so I went outside to film, but it started raining again. I just decided to push through and got three videos recorded.

    Oh my gosh. Posting on certain days terrifies me! Because I’m so scared I’ll fail meeting that deadline. I mean, I completely agree that telling myself to do it doesn’t hold much weight. But the pressure of the deadline also just brings so much anxiety. At this point, anyway.

  • @ModestNeko

    Nice tips! There aren't enough help videos out there for TH-camrs with ADHD. Now lemme ask this... How to be a TH-camr with ADHD... When you do animations?
    I love doing it but also struggle because it isn't just something I can crank out. I have to work on animating as much as I can and become frustrated when I don't get enough of it done.
    I try to set deadlines but animation takes a while so that caused me to stop setting deadlines when I've missed them or stayed up all night till 9am to get it done. But then I procrastinate on it. There's also the fear of it not being "perfect", which I know I need to get past.
    But one big issue is that I'm not getting those quick videos out that give some of that quick dopamine.
    So I'm gonna try doing simpler videos in between that still match my niche. But then my attention is divided when it comes to getting my animations done.
    Not to mention I need to wait on voice actors, record some lines myself, etc. I do have a co-creator helping how she can but I still do the bulk of the work. I've been trying different things but still haven't found the best way to go about it.
    I know this video is 2 years old but... Any advice would be very much appreciated!
    I definitely wanna make this a full time thing but it's been a struggle... I'm just happy my community is so understanding

      As an added note, I also have Asperger's, anxiety, and I'm recovering from chronic depression. So that had caused motivation and focus issues as well. Though I will say that the Asperger's helps for the hyper focus. Because I made a channel on one of my obsessions, you know I can hyper focus on that lol.

    This was a great thing for me to watch and it brought an idea out for me to vlog about tomorrow or even the next day! basically its going to about "me in real life vs me on youtube" and im a completely different person and it's all because I still feel nervous a little bit when im streaming or recording in front of the camera.

    OMG thanks guys! I've been struggling so much with my channel. I've been live since April. Followed everyone else on TH-cam talking about sechduels and all of this structured non sense. Drove me up the wall, because none of it was sinking in also was struggling with the identity of my channel. Because of you guys, I'm gonna wear who I am loud and proud.. You know it's funny I talk openly about my adhd with everyone else in my public life, locally and such but when it came to my channel. For some reason it didn't click. I'm glad to be apart of this community. I don't like using the term adhd with it being a diagnosis from neurotypicals to make us conform but it's how we identify. I guess you could also use Indigio children :p but then you run the risk of being labeled new age. Guess there's no winnining 🤣😛 anyway done with the rant. Thanks again guys. I'm probley gonna binge watch all your videos now.
