I get quite emotional thinking about Calvin and hobbes. A vivid childhood memory reading these. Even late at night with my little torch giggling away when I should be asleep. It will always have a special place in my heart.
I hope to get this one day in the next 12 months. It is a massive outlay for me but I hope my boys, who are quite young now, will enjoy this and inherit it.
I have loved Calvin and Hobbes since I was a kid back in the early 90's, still own my original book "The essential Calvin and Hobbes" to this very day, love to own my own copy of this collector's set for $54 Canadian
I read it to my kids in the 90's for bedtime stories quite often. Great stories, fantastic art styles, lovable characters, captures the essence of a little boys messy bedroom. I've got this collection and love it.
This is the very best review for the complete Calvin & Hobbes I've seen ! Thank you for recording this :) I'm getting it in 4 days, can't wait. Would you say the that it holds up, that the pages stick well and don't fall ?
+thisisfrenchtouch Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you liked it. I've had it for many years (10?), and during that time I've read it a few times. The quality is very good. The pages are wide, and that will of course lead to some degree of dragging, but the binding is good and solid. I am very pleased with this collection, and I feel that the HC edition is the proper way to celebrate this iconic strip.

Nice review man, but perhaps you should also point out some of the problems with the book. Like the fact that this gigantic collection is glued instead of sewn, which can cause the pages to fall if you are more of a reader than a collector. And that it is kind of difficult to take the books out of the box because there isn't any place to put your fingers so you have to turn the whole box so that the books can come out. You know, information to help people know what they are really buying.
Ojala llegue a Argentina. Me canse de pedirle a editoriales que lo publiquen. Al parecer aca no es muy conocido y no ño ven como un buen mercado. Que pensas de Mafalda?
Hi there. I am not sure if this is still available retail. You can get the 4-volume softcover version in many places, though. But I think it should still be possible to find the 3-volume hardcover version from third party dealers on Amazon etc.

the full page art works with usually refer to the smaller collections of the comic strip e.g. something under the bed is drooling.

The hardcover version collected everything in 3 volumes. The 4 volume version is the softcover one.
