- "Spain" is a lively piece composed by jazz pianist Chick Corea for his album "Light as a Feather" from 1973. It has become a real classic in jazz fusion. The lyrical opening contains a solo for tenor sax, followed by a fast, energetic Latin part where the melody is played alternately by different sections. Paul Murtha's compelling version has been expertly arranged for the concert stage.
This recording is from the "Cecilia Goes Latin" concert in 2019 by the Royal Harmonic Orchestra Sint-Cecilia Gingelom.

Magical number, RIP Chick. The tempo should have been a bit quicker though?
Marvelous- we need more music like this- I think the ladies on clarinet could chill a bit they look rather scared!
Sounds like a high school band :(
Like robots who are also sloppy, even though being way under tempo usually mean you can be tight.
Still sounded better than most school bands (poss due to the good rythmn section)
Rhythm section isn't great either. Drummer is very stiff, hasn't developed a proper spang-a-lang, and it's noticeable in the sound.@@keiththompson9446
@@keiththompson9446 The rhythm section? The drummer is trying to spangalang with a stiff arm.

Tempo needs to be a lot faster, and far too much time spent on the intro
Tempo was cool
