Really great overview of the Taylor Lineup. And now I know what all those numbers mean!! I own a 614ce, and I saw a K66ce years ago but at that time, I couldn't justify the cost. I since dreamed of getting one, but they were discontinued,. I searched for a used one and gave up and finally bought a gorgeous 562ce. Then, of course, a K66ce came up for sale and I just said "what the hell", and bought that one as well. It's coming next week!!

You are Alimo's best salesman/demonstrator, you're by far the most knowledgeable also, and a good player also, The only complaint I have is that when you play them you play so quietly I can't even hear any difference between the models. So Please dig in a little more when demonstrating the sound of the different woods and models with the most mid-range and the treble of the models I'm interested in the most.

My advice is rent or borrow the BEST guitar you can for learning. That will prove to be a great inspiration to the beginner. A cheap guitar can really discourage.

      @2011littlejohn1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I fully endorse your point and have told people the same thing and it can actually work out cheaper in the long run as you save money by not buying your way through various qualities of guitar. Plus if you really do give up you have an attractive product to sell.

Being a new player myself I agree to a point. Its amazing picking up a guitar that sounds good at any level yes. But as a beginner I find the most important thing above anything else is the neck feel and playability. 99% of cheap guitars feel cheap the minute you pick them up. Ive picked up some cheap fenders and Yamahas you could feel how cheap they were and all kinds all rattles. But on the other side of that a 1000.00 Taylor is perfect for beginner. No need to go to a 900 series for a beginner. The 214 or 314 have been on my wish list. Hoping to upgrade my Ibanez Artwood which I’m not a fan of the too warm sound.

Same!!! 🤣🎸🤣🎸🤣🎸🤣 I kept getting distracted as he “repeat played”, lol… me: at what moment does one even *begin* to conceptualize that it may actually be *physically possible* to evolve/shift (??) ONE day (still very far, far away 😂) from playing basically the same 4 chords (haha meee again 🙋‍♀️😜) to… THAT??? What is that even called? Apparently I’ve learned enough in 4 months of playing 🎸 to catch a *serious* case of “second guitar itch” 🤣🙋‍♀️🤣 and of course, to watch a gazillion Taylor videos, lol… and yet somehow I don’t even know *words* that go with those 💓 sweeeeet 💓 sounds… lol danger, danger! 🤦‍♀️🎸😍🎸😍🎸🤷‍♀️😜❤️🤑🙇‍♀️ uggh 😉

Many years ago I went guitar shopping and took a good two weeks to decide. I tried out Gibson, Martin and Taylor. Hands down the Taylor 710CE sound and feel blew all the others away . It was a the best acoustic I had every owned. I got laid off like 5 years after I got it, I had to pay my car insurance and had to sell it. I tore my heart out to do it . But I vowed to get myself another Taylor before I die! I would like to add that I bought it from Guitar Center and I didn't know at the time was they came with gig bag and case. The sales man charged me for the case. But when i buy my next one I iwll not let them soak me for it. Again Good guitars I do suggest don't buy on line. You have to see if it feels good in your hands. And thanks Alamo for this video

Taylor makes great guitars with top notch tone. Their greatest strength is ease of playability. Knowing what I know now, I wish I had bought a Taylor (1.75" nut) to start learning guitar. That said... my go to acoustic is a used 2008 Martin D-28 Marquis with Adirondack top. Best sounding guitar I could afford & met all my spec wishes. I'll never sell it.

  • @TheOlandex

like many guitar players I've owned a bunch of them over the years - Ovation, Ibanez, Washburn, Fender, Gibson, etc. I eventually came to Taylor and am sold on their guitars. They are just wonderful in so many ways.
Thanks for reviewing the line up! I found that very interesting and was really fond of the sound coming from the 700 and 900 series. They just seem to carry their resonance well with nice tones.
This is helpful in thinking about the next addition to the family :).

I'm a beginner (started learning 1 year ago but haven't been consistent enough with it). I currently have a pretty basic Fender CD60S Drednought.
I'm really considering getting a Taylor 224CE as there's a fairly big sale on it right now (almost 400$ off) from one of the local retailers.
    Is it overkill for me?
My thinking is: if I get a great guitar, I'll be more encouraged to get better, spend more time (and more consistently, crucially) on it and eventually learn with a quality instrument instead of cheap piece. Keen to hear thoughts from experienced players.

    • @racegirl2018

I’m also a 1-year old beginner. I was told to buy the best guitar I could afford. The reason was that I would be able to hear the best sound I could get out of a good guitar and it would also make encourage me to practice to play better. Like you, I have not been consistent with my practicing, but I do like some of the music coming out of my guitar when I do play. If you’re dedicated enough, making a guitar sound great first comes from the player and then the guitar will do the rest. Btw, I bought a used Martin 000-28ec for my first guitar. A Taylor is a big investment and nice step up. I’d say if you can afford it, buy it. Make that Taylor sing! Good luck. 😊

The best thing about a Taylor by far is the neck reset. When mine came from Mexico to WV mid Summer, it was 1/8th" high at the 12th. If the guitar was made solid like the others, that guitar would have been over. ~Owner of a Taylor 110e

I wanted the 314CE, but couldn't afford it. So I worked down the line to see which one sounded closest for cheaper. I had access to like a half dozen or so lower end full sized Taylor models(1's and 2's) on the huge wall of acoustics at a different guitar store. I wanted a cutaway like the 314CE but after comparing them all 1 after another against the 314ce there, the 114E NO cutaway sounded the closest. I ate it and skipped the cutaway. Best decision I made. This is great sounding for a lower end guitar I actually can afford. The dynamic range almost scares me when I hit it hard and it barks. I am glad I got the Sapele back and sides because the new ones are a bit different from what I wanted.

I really love Taylor guitars and love the 800 and 900 series. Sadly, I am never going to be able to own a $4000 guitar. I’m not a professional and only play in churches around me and sometimes on the east coast only because that is where I am from. I’m in love with the warm tones of the 800 and 900 series. Can any recommend a guitar close in quality sound and playability for less.

My guitar is a 2016 vintage 414ce-R. It has the fullness and note specific definition that is the hallmark of Taylor guitars. Try this, go to the Taylor website and listen to comparisons of the 414ce-R against any other Taylor model. You will be astounded how well the 414ce-R stands up against the best in Taylor's line - including the new V series guitars.

Whilst this would be nice, part of the reason the GS mini has so much depth is because of the scalloped bracing, something they only do with the layered versions of their guitars and is probably much more difficult to do with solid wood.

Let me correct this. All Taylor guitars feature scalloped bracing. The only thing that the laminate guitars have is a lack of bracing in the back. Instead the backs have a slight bowl shape pressed into them. This was originally done by Guild back in the 60's and aids projection while also creating enough rigidity to remove the need for back bracing.

A solid wood GSmini wouldn't be realistic cost wise but is something you can kind of get now. A Taylor 322 12-fret is all solid wood and roughly the same size as a GSmini. About an inch longer.

Couple years ago, I bought a tiller guitar from a reputable music store two weeks after I got the guitar it cracked severely in the middle. The store could not get Taylor to change the guitar for me. I tried to call the company myself with no success a week went by it cracked again I will never buy a taylor again.

shame on the Taylor company! The minute my Taylor was reported to the store all of a sudden the next day I went back and they had humidifiers in the store. I was not told anything about that. It’s a shame that a rich company like that cannot honor their product. It was not a cheap guitar, it should’ve at least lasted for two weeks. It’s disgusting. They ripped me off.

Is cory trevor your real name or are you a trailer park boys fan? Also he said it was something he saw somebody at taylor play live at a demonstration and this tune is his interpretation of that form memory

You consistently have great reviews on your channel. But you also consistently mic the guitars very poorly. Sack your technician and find someone who can mic your demos properly and SOUND CHECK before recording. Thank you.
