Allot of people complained about how they humanised them (understandable since they are child eaters) but really did we want them to do the exact same thing they did in the first film. I'm glad they tried something different with them, this scene was beautiful imo.

Honestly, it feels like there were better ways than what they went with. They completely reversed Winifred’s character on a dime, which is what weakened the ending for a lot of people. They could have had the spell empower Sarah instead of Winifred since it was technically her boyfriends head they had used, and Sarah could have squared up to Winifred because she was tired of the abuse and had the final conflict resolve out of Sarah’s sisters dying and her trying to give up her powers before they actually disappear so she could save them, and Winifred then recognizing that her sisters matter more than power.

She certainly did redeem herself right there and then, & this beautiful scene is so touching, heart warming, heart breaking, my buddies and I were literally crying and sobbing watching this; it hurt my heart, fracturing it. Then, immediately, at Winifred’s redemption, it got healed, im gonna go watch it again with my friends and have another good cry. I’m hoping there’s a sequel, where Winifred & her her sisters come back, to help the new sisters, coming in to save the world & the day, by becoming heroes and teaching and instructing the new sisters all about the magic, but doing it for good instead of evil. I believe everyone is not beyond redemption…

There are hints that a 3rd one is coming. One, the mysterious witch that meets Winifred at the start, shows up again in bird form at the end hinting that she is still around, and two, the black cat seen in the whole film is hinted to actually possibly be a villain(in a surprising twist from the first where the cat was the good guy)when in the post credits, the cat finds ANOTHER black flame candle. It would be cool to have the sisters return again, but this time as good guys.

One good act doesn't make up for murder, especially when that act is done for a selfish reason (Vader saving his own son, her saving her own sisters).

A new group of witches was a cute idea. New magic facing off against old.
I loved Billy being back, his team up was pretty hilarious.
Honestly, good movie? No, not really? Mildly forgettable, but honestly... glad I watched.

Despite everything Winnifred did this has got to be the saddest ending.
What should of happened is that Winnifred gets taught a lesson, by having her sisters taken from her, gets them back, and makes up for what she did, then they live normal lives. 😢

That mother in Texas telling parents that this movie is dark and they can be doing any spell they want to and have something come out of ur TV that's evil is crazy. She obviously missed the whole point of the movie. Cuz in the end Winifred chose her sisters over her powers . This is a good movie no matter what others say . She shouldn't be telling others how to parent kids she needs to worry about her own. If she don't like things like this then she shouldn't be watching it to begin with.

Looking back about a year later since it came out. I had mixed feelings about the movie and might give it another go this year but this scene was still very powerful when I first saw it even with my mixed feelings. It might even be one of the most powerful scenes in the movie in addition to the opening where they were kids.

  • @KiaraLionessTM

This was by far the saddest scene in the movie maybe because despite Winnie always calling them idiots she still loved Mary and Sarah because they were her sisters her family! And they were all she had and this had to be her biggest regret and mistake that she’d ever made she even says herself “my powers are nothing without my sisters!” Because she values them more than she does her magic she just didn’t realise it or listen to the warning about losing them until it was too late
Honestly people call this scene weak and so unlike Winnie to even act this way but not me I mean think about it for a second Sarah and Mary were the only family that she had left they supported her, cheered her up when she knew she was going to die without book (in the first movie) and even stood by her despite all the insults and her calling them idiots and yes maybe they were idiots in some ways because they weren’t as bright and smart as Winnie and were a bit dumb but they were HER idiots and her love for them was always there.
If Winnie didn’t care about them at all then she wouldn’t of sacrificed her all powerful magic or agree to be brought to them and would’ve instead just left and just gone off alone and taken over Salem but no she didn’t because without her sisters she was nothing and she therefore had nobody and was all alone and it broke Winnie to realise that she’d lost them forever and that she’d never get to see them again until the girls helped her reunite with them and be with them again

I love that people find this heartwarming and charming (as is Disney fashion), however I personally can't help but feel this was so out of character. These witches are evil, murdering dozens if not hundreds of children and I'm supposed to feel sad that she misses her sisters? I love these characters and they're a big part of my childhood, but at the end of the day they're evil and didn't really earn a Disney-fied heartfelt send-off. I really hope in the next one they just fully envelope these characters as EVIL witches, or at least show that they are remorseful for all the murders they have committed

This is of the things that made this sequel not work and clearly needed rewrites. I love Bette Midler and all. But I'm sorry, the character she plays in this movie is NOT Winifred Sanderson. In the original film, she was this evil, sadistic, and heartless witch who literally murdered children. You don't give a redemption arc to a character like that unless you're able to do it with very smart writing which this movie did not do. Also, as great as it is to see her acknowledge that she loves her sisters, it felt off because there was literally a line in the original movie where she said she would gladly sacrifice her sisters if it meant that she could live forever
