- Merry Christmas everyone. I couldn't find this Christmas Carol or the lyrics anywhere on line and it is too beautiful not to share so I am posting it. No copyright infringement intended, only the hope more people will hear this beautiful Christmas Carol.
Best attempt at lyrics.
It was Christmas Time long ago
When momma said to me
A love could melt the coldest heart
And build a family
And I'll face the snow
As the candles flame
To guide a lost soul home
And the simple grace of a warm embrace
Could bring about a change of heart
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Your love has brought me home
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
I'm home for good this Christmas day
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Your love has brought me home
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
I'm home for good this Christmas day
This song was just part of the composed music for this "made for tv" movie. I loved this song, but like it's been said.....we can only hear a bit of the song. I was thinking that maybe this song or rather the little snipit of it was written only partially on purpose. So as to close out the movie and transition into the next song on the credits. I have to believe that this is only a partial song, that somewhere out there exists a full song with lyrics and everything. If and when anyone can find a full version of this song ( if it does indeed truly exist), please post a link to it here.....and maybe even post all the words. I would love to have a copy of this song for my own christmas music collection. I've tried everything i know to find a copy, even going so far as to contact the man who handled the compiling of the music for this movie's soundtrack. I got no response. So again, if anyone can figure out where to find a full copy please let me (us) know. Thanks!!
I wish I could find a full version too, but unfortunately I think you're right...its only a made for tv song...a partial song. Still though, every once and a while I come back to this song to help lift my mood. Even though it's a Christmas song, it had (and continues to have) such a profound effect on me. I love it.
I saw the movie when it first came out on tv back in 1998. I loved it. I love the Wild West, I'm a bit of a cowgirl myself, so this movie really hit that side of me. Somewhere I have the taped version as I managed to throw in a tape when it was on again so i'd have it. I never did get it on proper vhs and I'm now trying to search for a copy of it on dvd. When I was talking to someone about this movie, I told them about the song and how I to this day still know the words to this very song and then I came across it. I was so freaking happy that I started to cry happy tears. Thank you for posting it. I love it and always will. Now I just need the luck to find the dvd at a good price and have it be able to play.
This was a really cool adaptation of the story, and Palance did a phenomenal job.
Love almost all Christmas Carol versions. This one is really different and love it too. I have it on VHS but can't find it on DVD. The final song gets me every time I hear it. Thanks for posting. Happy New Year!
Just saw the Movie and searched for the song. Thank you !!!
It was Christmastime long ago
When Mama said to me
Of how love could melt the coldest heart
And build a family
And how faith as small
As a candle flame
Could guide a lost soul home
And the simple grace of a warm embrace
Could bring about a change of heart
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Your love has brought me home
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
I'm home for good this Christmas Day
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Your love has brought me home
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
I'm home for good this Christmas Day
I loved this unique version
This "unique version"? Where's another version of this song? Where's the regular version?
I remember seeing this move on TNT or TBS. This song really touched me and I thought it would become part of the lexicon of Christmas Songs we hear each season. Nope. Like you I've searched the internet looking for more versions/more complete versions. It's hard even finding information on the song's title and composer. Thank you for posting.
I agree it is loaded with potential to become a standard. You are right about the composer and everything else being so hard to find too. It seemed such a shame to do such great work and not have it be available so I decided to make it available. It sounds kind of like Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, and I wonder if that is why it has been locked away.
Just got the DVD from an Amazon seller in TX. Still can't find any other info about the music. Enjoying it on Palm Sunday!
Just saw this movie for the first time. I love this song and looking for it brought me here. Can't find it anywhere else. Thanks for posting.
Me too! You are welcome. Merry Christmas!
TheRadioAteMyTV Merry Christmas to you!
this scene was shown briefly in the Dear Santa movie so I had to seach and find out where it came from. wonderful song.
Been searching for this song for years, does anyone know if it was just made for this film? Anyways thanks for the upload

Sorry that would get me dinged by TH-cam and I need to keep the account out of trouble. Keep checking TH-cam though, someone is bound to post it eventually. It real was interesting take on the original and I enjoyed the twist ending. It was very clever.
