Such a shame he has anxiety and doesn't tour, promote or do any live performances anymore, he suffered a lot in that band. After he left he got A LOT of hate and racist comments from the people who were supposedly his fans. Anyways his real fans who stuck with him after all truly support him and will wait till he's ready again to perform.

@@lu-13 first he suffered in the band because of management second they all threw shade at each other. Zayn also said things about the boys as well but even so at the end of the day they always say no matter what they will have each other backs. Zayn left the band due to 1. His illness 2. He wanted to be a normal 22 yr old and not controlled and 3. Because the songs weren’t rlly his cup of tea. It wasn’t the boys he said whenever someone ask when I’m 30 if I was apart of boy band I’m going to say yes and proud because those boys are my family and enjoyed my time being with them.
there was technically no main singer but all the attention was always focused on harry and he got the most lines. in my opinion zayn and harry had the best voices in the group. and they mainly only showed zayn’s when he was doing ad-libs or high notes unfortunately.

Zayn and Liam were the top 2 vocalists but yeah Harry was definitely chosen as the main focus of the group for sure. I think Zayn has the best voice tho and had Liam been given more lines or more significant parts he would’ve been more noticed as a vocal strength for the group as well

basically 1d were technically group vocalists, but zayn definitely was by far the strongest vocalist, he left the band in early 2015, and later that year the rest of the guys broke apart and went solo too.

Zayn was absolutely the most talented member in 1D. He had the most control over his voice, dared to improvise and experiment during concerts and was reprimanded by management for his choices. They were expected to be obediently controlled. Zayn did not do well in this environment where he was not allowed to practice his God-given talent freely. The band and management constantly shoved harriet to the forefront to the be white sexy lead even tho his vocal talent was far inferior. they wanted him to have the big white cock energy to lead member of the band. But everyone who actually listened to 1D knew that Zayn was the lead singer. He left after being depressed and suffocated by management. Their fans turned on him in favor of their white faves but the real ones stuck with him all these years. Now his talent and true demeanor as a simple individual is finally being seen for what it is. Zayn is a simple brilliant and immensely talented man who deserves every ounce of success and definitely more recognition

yes zayn was definitely the strongest vocalist, but I don't know how some of y'all are saying he was the lead...since the band literally put out an entire album after he left that performed extremely well. he had a lot to contribute but so did each of the other boys in their own ways. like Louis presented an emotional range in his voice that I don't think the other boys could match, along with the fact that he wrote the majority of their discography...and harry had a nice rasp and a lot of power in his vocals. they're all amazing.
One Direction didn't have a lead vocalist, lines were distributed amongst all of them. Zayn and Harry had the most popularity as they got the insane parts but in my opinion Liam equally had a crazy range. In brief, Zayn was more like the backbone of the group in some ways since he mostly did all the high notes and runs while Harry mainly did the choruses.

There wasn't really a lead vocalist, all of them are very talented, and it to me was a group effort. They each put in the skills that they were the best at, and for Zayn it just so happened to be high notes. Zayn isn’t just high note, he was the only one who could do the high notes that is why he did it, he also sang middle and lower notes too so don’t minimise his skills to high notes, Zayn was and still is the best vocalist that is fact, other can sing but none of them can sing like him that is why he is one of the best male vocalist and none of the other guys are compare to him.

One direction wouldn't be a band without all five of the members...thats how it works. Also it was just my opinion on the matter so why do you care so much? All their unique voices made up the sound of the band, they were a team, thats why they were so successful. I know he is one of the best male vocalists in the industry i have literally grown up listening to him. you dont have to bring other artists down just because you like or think one is better. Zayn really did have the most powerful voice and technically his voice was the best but I would say the focus was mainly on Harry so people saw him as the ‘lead vocalist’ even though I would say zayn was the best with Liam coming after him cos Liam really took after zayns high notes when he left and really got to show his voice to his full potential but there wasn’t any lead vocalist per say they’re all majorly talented

Lead vocalist and lead in the band have different meaning, Harry was given as lead by the management but lead singer means the best singer of the group and Zayn was and still is best singer and vocalist out of the five of them.
This video is just snippets of Zayn's part, which the highlight of his vocals. One Direction is an all vocalist boy band, everyone have their verses and parts. But for me, Zayn and Harry were the power house vocal of this band.. i know many fans will be triggered by this statement but it is what it is..

okay little breakdown- zayn and liam both hit a lot of high notes, liam hit majority of them after zayn left. Niall, Louis, and Harry all stayed mostly in the middle, sometimes harry went really low and sometimes they all also went high. It just depends on what part of the song they were given and how they could preform it. So there was not a boy that was the 'lead.'

There was no lead singer. Idk how some people commenting are saying he was when the band put out an entire album without him even on it. The line distribution in 1D was pretty even. There wasn’t a lead vocalist but he was at the time the most solid so he SHOULD have been the lead.

Louis and Niall were literally given Maybe one or two solo lines each in the entire first album, only a bit more in the second and it gradually increased. but harry always had the most by far since he was usually given all the choruses by management, and then zayn and Liam generally had the most verses.
He wasn't the lead because he didn't get nearly enough solos but he was given the most difficult parts to sing for sure. You should react to Mind of Mine and Icarus Falls, Still Got Time, Cruel, You Can't Hide from the Get Down, also his covers of Bed Peace and Me, Myself and I are FLAWLESS

Zayn left in March of 2015 because he wanted to be a normal person & have a private life. He doesn’t tour anymore, he just releases his music whenever he writes. He has a beautiful partner & daughter. You can tell he is much happier than he was back then. He (& all the boys) were extremely overworked. Liam developed depression & a drinking problem because of it & Zayn developed an eating disorder & has severe anxiety (also one of the reasons he doesn’t tour.) Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn & Niall toured “Four” but less than two months in Zayn made the announcement of his departure so the boys had to finish the tour without him. They released “Made in the A.M.” following Zayn’s departure but never toured it because they’re on a hiatus now. They’re all doing amazing with their solo careers. Next month will actually be 11 years of 1D! The four say they will get back together after they’ve done everything they want to individually & they all 5 still keep in touch & are very close to this day.🤎

Jst my observation - it seems Harry is somewhat the face of 1D for sure but no one is actually the lead singer perse. Everyone contributed to the groups fame respectively. Zayn was given most of the adlibs and high notes. I guess to give some layer to their songs.
