Adding The Travelling Cat Chronicles to my tbr! Good to know about The Mercies, I may give it a miss. I have it sat on my tbr but its been sat there for AGES now, I got it in a free library so wont feel to bothered about putting it back in one 🤷🏼♀️ 🐈
I had a similar issue with The Lost Apothecary. I have Stalking Jack The Ripper on my tbr. Loved The Travelling Cat Chronicles 😢 My favourite reads for May were The Serpent And The Wings Of Night and Fourth Wing which I adored.
🐈 im currently reading fourth wing and omg i love it ❤ im also reading serpent in the wings of night on my kindle and i love this book too 😍 although i very often read 2 bboks at the same time but gotta say these too books are quite similar i think due too the tests they have to go threw love them both
this was such a cozy video to watch! ☕🐈love that teacup as well. sounds like a solid reading month for you! my fav book ended up being into the riverlands by nghi vo, the third in the singing hills cycle series. here's to a great june reading month as well 💖
I could hear you talk about books all day 😅❤ I finally won over the reading slump and read some 3 books in May.. it felt good to be back at reading.. 😊 I have to read The Travelling Cat Chronicles now! 🐈
I was finishing up the Traveling Cat Chronicles last summer on a Saturday morning in bed. And I couldn't see the last 80 pages through the tears, it was such a lovely morning and my husband is like "whoah what is happening, why you crying so much" and I just couldn't, that book, like oh my god, it is the most precious thing, I loved it
You took the words right out of my mouth 😅 I recently DNF’d you and me on vacation half way through and felt exactly the same. I didn’t care and was SO bored. I’m hoping her other books aren’t the same. Everyone else seems to love them.
“The Boy And The Dog” by Seishu Hase. By complete accident I read “Traveling Cat Chronicles” this month. I work at a bookstore and a used copy came in. Then I was shelving the next week and saw the dog book and was like OMG it is like the cat book, but in reverse! The dog is on his journey back home after being separated from his owner after the Tsunami disaster in Japan.
I felt exactly the same about the traveling cat chronicles. I also thought i wasn't that invested an a bit bored, but then in the third part boom i was
🐈⬛My best read of May was What Should Be Wild by Julia Fine...but only by default as it was still a 3ish star read but was the highest rated of the month.
i am so surprised that you loved Fourth Wing hahah i can't get past chapter 5 and i hated the audio, but i'm not DNFing yet! also lol at the not being able to blink without seeing it on the back of your eyelids 'cause wow how accurate. OK UPDATE I LOVE THAT CHRONIC PAIN DISCUSSION ABOUT BEING USED TO IT THOUGH 'CAUSE SAME
The disability rep in Fourth Wing has just meant so freaking much to me. I don’t have her same disabilities, but seeing her be such a badass and not get cured at the end was everything. I could go on and on but don’t want to spoil anything 😅 I will say though, there were 2 scenes specifically in regard to accessibility that made my disabled heart SO. HAPPY. And the way Dain, her friend (I can’t think of her name right now 😫), and Xaden treated her because of her “limitations”. This 👏 is 👏 why 👏 own 👏 voices 👏 is 👏 essential 👏 (Rebecca Yarros has EDS & POTS).
Have you read Gallant by VE Schwab? As an author, hit or miss and idk about own voices but there's a character who has a disability that also isn't magically cured by the end so I really enjoyed that. 😊
The illness is Ehlers Danlos! So many of my family members and friends have felt so seen by the rep in Fourth Wing, and as someone with Fibromyalgia and the possibility of Ehlers Danlos, I felt super seen and was rooting for her so hard!
The point of Before They Are Hanged is the pointlessness. Abercrombie is pretty much making fun of the fantasy genre as a whole and the "ragtag group going on a journey"-trope in particular. Personally, I found the twist incredibly hilarious.
I read 26 books in may, which now that I write that out seems unhinged. My favourite book was Yellowface. So good. Though, I did DNF fourth wing. Thinking that I might pick it up physically instead since I didn't really like the audiobook narrator.
16 BOOKS?!?!?!? I can't even imagine 😅 Oooooo How High We Go In The Dark sounds so interesting, especially as someone with a degree in environmental science 👀👀👀👀 Absolutely loved SJTR although when I was reading it I flipped to a random page on accident and it revealed the identity of Jack The Ripper 🙃 Shanghi Immortal wasn't on my radar until you started talking about it and now I need to go pick it up because it sounds so fun!!! 🐱🐱🐱
@@AFrolicThroughFiction i absolutely love herbal teas! Camomiles are my favorite at night! I drink this one by Pukka and it’s camomile Manuka honey and vanilla. Have you tried it?
So agree with you on the Lost Apothecary. Beautiful cover, but oh my …. As a historian I could not take this “ research” serious. And the generic bad husband. Lazy writing.

I loved the lost apothecary. I gave it five stars which is rare for me
Love that cup!
...live a good dragon riding book! Can't wait to read Fourth Wing!
Thank you! And it’s so so good, you’ll love it!
🐈⬛ I read 13 books in May and I think my favourite book from that month was Leviathan wakes by James S A Corey.
🐈 Fourth Wing is really good...
The travelling cat chronicles broke me too, it was so moving x
i feel the same way about reading books with social media🥴🥴
i def bought Shanghai Immortal last week from Blackwell's because it doesn't come out in the US til October ):

I really didn’t get into the mercies either. So reassuring it wasn’t just me.

I’ve still never read a Emily Henry book 😬
Can’t say I recommend 😂
I haven't either. I know it's not my taste
You’re not missing anything.
Nopenopenope dont think I can do the Travelling Cat Chronicles. 😂 I will probably be a blubbering mess.
And I have and have read all the Girl From the Other Side books but I really need to get my greedy paws on those beautiful editions! ❤
You took the words right out of my mouth 😅 I recently DNF’d you and me on vacation half way through and felt exactly the same. I didn’t care and was SO bored. I’m hoping her other books aren’t the same. Everyone else seems to love them.
can't wait to get my copy of fourth wing. since everyone is raving about it.

I read 9 books in May. My best month yet. My favorite book was A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass. 🐈⬛
Ayyy a good reading month all round!

Yeah I felt meh about The Mercies too.
I keep trying to say Pierce Brosnan instead of Brown too!!!

fellow Fourth Wing fangirl for sure ❤️🔥🤭

I can't read books with social media, emails, texts messages etc. It just turns me off immediately. I'll push to typewriter if I must 🤣
I think if you like the Girl from the Other Side and The Ancient Magus Bride I think you would like Tales of Outcast.

Add a placeholder to GR. Are any of your coworkers GR librarians? Then you could add a Manuscript for Work published by Fairyloot :D
A fab idea but I think all the blank covers would bother me more 😂
Fourth Wing is similar to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and I believe is own voices?
Sounds about right!
