    (***CORRECTION*** 6r35 is 21,600 Bph) DID YOU KNOW - The ‘turtle’ name is no longer trademarked. It was owned by some random guy in London but he never renewed it last year when his ownership expired….Seiko are using this name officially now on their websites. Why don’t Seiko trademark the name? I’ve contacted them recently to ask….if I get an answer I’ll let you know in a future video!

      Why use a memorable name when the can just use a string of random letters and numbers? 😅

      Cost of policing it.

    I bought the black dial with the silicone strap. This watch has some weight to it, and the 4:30 date window practically disappears. I also find it more comfortable to wear than the 143.
    I really like that fact that it’s all brushed-it has a very no-nonsense vibe.
    That bracelet is absolutely killer.

  • @xgford94
    @xgford94 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Best 4:30 date window ever, the numerals being Parallel to the rest of the script NOT at 45deg is a massive win, porthole is a great way to do it too

    Hey, not a watch guy at all, but I just bought this as my first automatic watch and divers watch. Got the black dial (spb315). Love it, couldn’t be happier with it.
    You watch enthusiasts are a different breed. Just like audiophiles. I’m going to enjoy this watch for many years, as I travel through this wonderful universe.

    I dislike 4’oclock date windows with a passion, in general, but having the date “level” as opposed to angled, as with most squared windows looks absolutely stunning, and, as you say, allows for the full index at 3. It’s subtle, functional and smart. Would like to see this on more watches.

      @blubbloob3164 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly like you've said @Daniel couldn't agree with you more. I'm convinced 4 o'clock date windows are demons from hell, especially when the date itself is also at an angle. With this the date itself is at least straight horizontally and fits with the rest of the text also on a horizontal straight line. This way I personally can cope with it.

    • @jackster285

      Same here. So many otherwise nice watches that I'm having to pass on because of the 4 o'clock date window.

    Fantastic watch fully agree with everything you said. The bracelet for example is something you don't often see on Seiko watches. Love this colour combo with white dial, black bezel, a smidge of red, either on the second hand or somewhere on the dial and blue lume. Certainly something to consider for a Cedow colour variant. 👌

    Their pricing is way over the ridge. I don’t need 70 hours of reserve if I’m wearing it and beyond that I just couldn’t see buying a typical Seiko diver for that amount. I’m now looking at San Martin to replace Seiko’s round and round same old same old. Great video tho. Thanks.

    • @R023N
      @R023N 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A side effect of higher power reserve is that the main spring applies constant torque over a longer period which allows for better real world accuracy.

    Wow, I'm almost a little upset that this came out soon after me purchasing a SPB 153... but then again, as much as I love white dials like the one you have, I love the green on the 153 even more. If they came out with the same green color version of this watch, I would have to sell my watch and get that one. Anyway, great video!!

    Well done for getting one on the first day, it looks great 👍 . My only concern is the edge where the side transitions into the back of the case, one of the reasons the Turtle is so comfortable is the smooth curve into the back.

  • @Chris.Strange
    @Chris.Strange 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    A more discreet clasp = fewer micro-adjust positions and thus a higher chance of not being able to get the fit you want. For that price I'd want the watch to fit perfectly all the time.

    Skx007 has been my main watch for the past 2 years, after all the skx used to only go for about 250-300 so I figured It was time for an upgrade. Was about to pull the trigger on the seiko willard X and then this was announced and I'm glad it was. Insane watch can't make my mind up but I know in a months time either the black or white dial version will be on my wrist.

    Reminds me a lot of spork srp043, especially that colour matched date window on the black dial.
    But in a even better size, bracelet... but that price is just unreasonable, its three times of the spork.
    I agree the white dial is best choice, and that circular date window position makes a difference.
    It's evergreen

    Ok, I love it, especially the case shape and the dial, and your effortless enthusiasm is so watchable as usual, but £990? In a post microbrand/chinese watch world, I cant justify it. At the moment... 🙂
    Tell you what might be interesting though - ask if you can raid the stock room at F&G and check out the alignment on a batch of these; you may have just got lucky, but I hope not.
    Re dial/bezel - theres a stack of white dial/black bezel watches on ali you could check out for more inspiration, as well as the CW Trident Pro.

    Seiko has always been great...but they really dig a hole for themselves by raising prices and then letting their QC go way down. I dont speak for everyone obviously but I just dont trust their product anymore. Not to mention most models have a sub par clasp, with no sapphire. I think they have some work to do to get back folks into their camp. That being said, this watch looks great and hopefully it is a forecast of things to come for this brand.

    Beautiful. I actually prefer an aluminium bezel insert for vintage inspired divers - love a bit of wear on it.

      @@jim_bocho it's very possible. I've owned a lot of watches and the 143 has an impressively wearable set of proportions. I just end up wearing it more than any other watch in my collection. I'm very, very curious to see this watch in person and directly compare it. I had an SBDC061 and it has similar dimensions to this (a little wider, perhaps, but similar). Also very wearable. Seiko has really done a great job with these.

I really believe Seiko is at their best at the entry level. Under $500USD (when discounted - think SRPE93). And, on the other hand, I believe their ultra-expensive Prospex LX Divers (SNR’s) would be worth shelling out for. This middle ground, so-so spec type diver is no man’s land, I wouldn’t touch it.

    Love the watch overall but the aluminum bezel looks cheap for a watch that expensive. And, since you discussed the bezel color for white faced watches, black bezels look far better than white bezels in that situation.

    the hour indices look extremely cheap and that date window is not very attractive......and an aluminum bezel insert. I really thought I was going to like this new release. Thanks for the great review, you saved me about $1200 usd.

    Love it, just wished they'd ditched the useless, pointless date complication all together tho. But a vast improvement over the abomination at 3 they insist on spoiling all their divers with.

      I still would give anything for a no-date Seiko diver to rival the no-date sub.

    Before even watching the entire video I will say this. I have in my collection the Sumo black edition from a couple of years back. It does annoy me that people and reviewers don’t seem to pick up on just what a dreadful movement the 6R35 appears to be. It’s often a minute or so day!! Ok so perhaps the movement in my watch needs regulating, but why should it, the watch is only 18 months or so old. Additionally the Seiko’s I have with the 4R series movements kill the 6R hands down and as for comparisons with my COSC pieces, well let’s not go there.
    The point I am making is that Seiko is charging a grand+ plus for watches with the new 6R series movements. They are just not good enough with that movement inside at that price!

      I’ve worn it a week and it’s 1 minute fast…I haven’t had or seen a bad 6r15 or 6r35…I’m not gunna crap on it until I have the experience to back it up…

      For some reason, my one and only 6r gets magnetized occasionally. Never happened to any of my other watches. Probably coincidence but demagnetizing it puts it back to it's standard amount of daily deviation.

      Totally agree! I have a baby alpinist which have this shit 6r35 movement and losing 30-35 seconds a day and it is just 4 months old!

    I was a Seiko fanboy for years but now I have exactly zero Seiko’s. The only thing I miss is their lume. For what they charge now there are too many better choices both name brands and micro brands. Even some of the Chinese watches offer way better value.
