Andrea Corr sung "They Don't Know" at the Kirsty MacColl Tribute gig 10th Oct 2010. so the decision of inserting it in her cover album Lifelines it's a sort of gift, in memory of the great woman.
I'm not sure what attracts me to this sound? It's not in my lineup but occasionally I fall into an eclectic mode. This song was written a couple decades after that style faultered. It's fits like a glove into that genra and Andrea nails it. I dare you to follow that act.
There are 3 versions of "They Don't Know." Now the first version that I was exposed to was Tracey Ullman's in 1983/84. And that is what I have been use to and ENJOYED for all of these years. It was not until a week ago, that I found that Kirsty McColl was the originator of "They Don't Know'. And she ( May she rest in peace) did the song in her own style and it was EXELLENT! As is what most people consider the standard version by Tracey Ullman which is also EXELLENT! And this young lady is EXEL!
Yeah, there's definitely more than three. Kirsty's is the most real though. Kirsty sounds like what she was when she wrote it: a teenager, and this song is in the voice of a teenager.
I had no idea that Andrea Corr had done a version of this song! its an alright version but for me this song will always be Tracy Ullman's song! (just my personal preference)
Great song pretty goo version, her voice is probably too good for a song like this crazy as that sounds, no edge plus she sings the 'baby' bit too early! Gorgeous looking through!
To me Tracy Ullman's voice is scratchy and to high pitched, Andrea brings her melodic voice to a version I didn't like. Need to listen to the original now. The Coors version of Everybody hurts sounds better than REM's in my opinion.

I love Kirsty MacColl
Her voice is so high pitched. The harmony is even higher.
I love Andrea's angelic voice..thanks for sharing..

Don't forget Kim Wilde!

Susannah Hoffs version is good as well.
Also a version with Katrina Leskanish (from Katrina & The Waves)
...and Katrina's is a beautiful acoustic version

Have you heard the version by Kirsty MacColl, who wrote the song? Not as polished but more real.
1:57 " B A B Y " !!! 🤪
I like it
Adore adore
it's nice ..
Simply I like Corrs in any stuff.
I go for the Zappa version myself.
There´s no need for living in the past. ;-)))

It seems like everyone who does this song does a pretty good job with it. Personally, my favorites are Kirsty, Kim Wilde and Susannah Hoffs.
Katrina Leskanich also does a good version
@jamesstafforduk and please stop commenting in this beautiful version!
YES AND THE TORMENT YOU
yes - it's not Tracey - but it's very good.
Geht doch. I mean, not too bad. Don´t you think?
:)
This is a nice version, but I still like Susanna Hoff's the best.
Tracey Ullman and Kirsty Mc are, to me, the best versions. Kirsty Mc wrote it and her mate Tracey U tweaked it a bit.
Too fast.

KIRSTY MACCOLL PLEASE.
I like metallica's version better
