I have had a 2012 2.2 turbo diesel version from new. At 100,000km I discovered a failure of the 4x4 transfer box (I suspect that this may have been from new). Although it was well out of warranty Hyundai offered the parts for nothing. Apart from that, it has been extremely reliable and its now done 220,000km

As I understand it's a common problem with both the Santa and the Sorento.
Can be repaired to a stronger construction and will hold until the first atomic bomb hits... 😂 From factory it will fail sooner or later.

I have a 2010 2.2 diesel here in the UK. Love it!

i have one of these with the 2.7 V6 and manual 5 speed transmission. Great vehicle. Very reliable as well. i wish that they had offered the 2.2 diesels here in the USA as well as a manual 6 speed option for the 3.3 V6.
There are some things that can be done to improve it, like installing under covers to help with the aerodynamics on the freeway.

Agree, good cars and reliable. Korean cars of this age and newer haven been on a roll. Great stuff coming out of there.

I drive a 2010 one. This car stick you out. First it is not a common vehicle like Ford Mondeo or Vauxhall Insignia. Second the car is bigger than other small mid size SUVs like Nissan X-Trail, Toyota Rav4 or Mitsubishi Outlander. Even bigger than Q5 or X3. Third the car has distinctive features like asymmetrical tailgate release and roof rails.

Enjoyed your review. I usually struggle to find good reviews of older/used cars and this one was great.

It's cheap as chips in UK, in rest of the europe you can not buy it for less then 6k euros.

      @@Leee4444 14:01.......I have a 2011 2.2 crdi....its suspension is too harsh...I feel every bump...you said bushings...I will get them checked

@@saylsalcan2610 Ah okay. I said suspension knocks, as in there is a small knocking noise due to the bushes being worn out. I think in your case you may have come from a comfier car? This is still a 4x4 SUV the suspension is stiffer than a nice saloon car. And if you have bumpy roads you will feel it.
