“Can’t prove that he didn’t make bets”
They looked at years of text messages, phone calls, apps, etc. you’re telling me Ohtani cautiously wrote down on a piece of paper 19,000 wagers and didn’t slip once in years but decided to use his bank account that make bets? You all are insane.

Plus it makes no sense for the winnings to go to Ippei's account. If he was betting, why would he send it to Ippei's account? He would see none of the winnings. If he was sending wire transfers from his account, his account is already in use, so why would you need to then secretly not use his account for winnings?
Why would he need to buy $400k worth of ebay baseball cards/balls to resell later, when you're that rich?

To the guy talking around 5:00. My understanding is that when Ippei was questioned about Ohtani's money sent to the bookmaker at first, he lied that Ohtani was covering up his friend. Later Ippei had to change his comment that friend was actually himself. The whole story was his making up at first place and he had to continue his lie. Ohtani felt something strange at the team meeting while Ippei was stating his false explanation in English. Then Ippei told Ohtani he wants to explain it at a hotel room. I am sure Ippei still tried to abuse his friendship to convince Ohtani in a hotel room to go along with his cover up lie. Ohtani waited till they get back to the hotel, then as he listened to Ippei's story in a room, he realised something really wrong is happening. That's when he called other team staff and they realised all Ippei's lie. In a way, it was team's fault that they questioned about this only to Ippei without asking Ohtani directly. I guess they got used to talking to Ohtani only through Ippei too much.

Don't know who your source is, but gambling is illegal in Japan. There are loopholes in the law which allow some sort of gambling such as horseracing and pachinko. Since the late 2010s, Japanese government has been trying hard to legalize gambling to increase revenue (through tourism through development of casinos), but because most of the public is fearful of gambling addictions, this has stalled. While it is common for Japanese people to travel abroad (i.e. Las Vegas) to entertain gambling, very rarely is gambling accepted as a legitimate hobby as in the case here in the US.
There is no proof that Ohtani bet or didn't bet himself.
However, if you ask a common Japanese person (and also look at how the Japanese media is covering this story), you will find out that gambling has a very negative image in Japan. A superstar in Japan with multiple endorsements would not risk damaging his/her reputation.
Furthermore, I would go far as to say that if Ohtani had known about the gambling addiction to Ippei, he would have never hired him (or fired him upon knowing). Companies in often Japan keep profiles of employees with gambling issues because of the risks associated with embezzlement.

i seriously do not know what kind of logic you guys have. You really want to believe what exactly? That Shohei really knew what was going on, that he is the gambler and that Ippei is the fall guy? Soooo...what that means is, you believe someone who is at the very least a PROVEN LIAR in many ways from work experience, to educational background, etc etc over Ohtani who has absolutely no record of telling lies AND who has been covered by the media EXTENSIVELY since he was a kid and there are plenty of interviews from family, coaches, teammates, teachers, etc. who can attest to his character and who by the way has a history since he started earning money of having other people handle his money, and all he cares about is baseball. REALLY. Also, somehow, you would believe that several Government agencies from the FBI, IRS Crimes Unit, Homeland Security, DOJ, would all collude with MLB, agree to set up Ippei as the fall guy because they want to protect Ohtani??? SERIOUSLY??? You guys think the government cares a lot about baseball? Ohtani is somehow such an important figure and matter so much to the wellbeing of the country that the government must step in and create this conspiracy. RIGGGGHHHHHHTTTTTTT. So let's just say that what you want to believe is true - Ohtani is the gambler and Ippei is just a fall guy. The amount is $16 nillion and while that is a lot of money for most, that seems extremely small to motivate several offices of the government/law enforcement to conspire and collude so as to make Ohtani appear innocent and set up a fall guy. Can you stop and listen to yourselves and really think this through?? OH...another thing..are you having people also believe that the audio evidences that the FEDS found of Ippei making bets, even admitting to stealing from Ohtani are all made up??? RIGGGGHHHHHHT.

Doug has more integrity than anyone else in sports. Everyone just want Shohei to be in the clear so they can enjoy his career again so they are willing to buy this obviously cooked up story.

When everyone on media and YT creator asked for ohtani's explanain about the gambling issue, ohtani gave an explanation about the issue, then you 3 little idiots and some reactors flooded hate on youtube for weeks, as if you knew everything. You hate the guy, then the truth came out, and you are WRONG! is it fair to apologize? don't use this flatform to speak whatever you want to say to the point you destroy not only the person but his reputation as an athlete. you nearly destroy ohtani. APOLOGIZE!

Read the document. It is not that hard to do then you will understand. Thousand of text messages between Ohtani and Ippei and not one mentioned betting wagering etc.. it is all in the document if you spent the time to read it.

I dont know if Ohtani did anything illegal. But because it is gambling and because of the history of baseball and gambling, there likely will be an effort to cleanse Ohtani as much as possible of what happened, even if Ohtani did, in fact, contributed to or at least allowed this to happen.

Who is this baffoon saying Shohei is part of this gambling , when the investigtion says no.
So the Federal investigators are going to put Ippei in prison for 25 years to protect Shohei ?
The one Video host have no evidence to support their opinion.

The salary deferment conspiracy is just straight fantasy. Shohei is making an estimated $40 million from endorsements alone. He's getting Aaron judge type money before accounting for his actual salary.

Bruh gambling is not a big part of Japanese culture maybe Chinese but in Japan it’s literally illegal to gamble and it’s a much bigger taboo than in usa. Pachinko is legalized and some people bet on mahjong but it’s highly highly stigmatized. Don’t pretend to be an expert on other cultures if you don’t know them
