- This is the last part of our 16 part Southern Luzon Bicol Region Joyride series. We have reach Irosin and now heading towards Matnog. To complete our series, we decided to check Matnog port. The roads here if you can notice are wide and very nice. There are some portions with on going road widening as of this documentation.
One of the best provincial roads i have driven in the entire Philippines, wide roads, good paved roads. There are markings on the road for fast cars -right and slow cars to left which is very good but markings were a little small. I hope this applies to all the national roads in the Philippines, great job who ever thought about this. It was a so far a 13 hour drive or less... I once did a video from Bulan to Matnog so there are similarities in the video as this is the official Matnog video for my joyride collection. We reach Matnog around dusk. There is a surprise at the end of the video :-)
Matnog is the southernmost part of Luzon mainland. km 646 is the last part of Asian Highways 26. Afterwards there are ferries or Roll In Roll Out going to the Visayas region. It is a busy port town.

Can imagine how your heart beats when you said first time to step soil/drive in Samar.. Same feeling I got when I reached Patapat bridge for the first time. That feeling of achievement is real!
it was the same feeling as when nun nasa banaue bontoc road ako papuntang sagada rin hehehehe yun tatawa ka mag isa habang nag mamaneho hehehehe!

I have to agree with you, compared to most of the road you've been through, this Matnog road seems to be one of the best. Fewer road obstructions, wide road and bridges. There is always room for improvement though, like consistent road lines markings and directional.Out of town drivers without GPS, knowing where the road leads to gives comfort and less worry. Another fine video, Dmitri! This road needs to be seriously four laned, your country could probably get a lot of benefit out of doing it. I wouldn't expect to see it for many years, unfortunately.
And yes, I survived Irma just fine. 55 mph winds, lots of rain, never lost power and now I have a shitload of pine needles and branches in my yard. Oh joy. XD

+The Bridge Is Awesome Park on the...oh Lord, never mind! XD At least you won't have the problem like we do in the US when they widen a road and by the time they're done with construction it's like IT NEVER HAPPENED...It's STILL CLOGGED!
glad to hear you guys are safe there :-) the cleaning up is another problem though... the problem with a 2x2 carriageway is most motor vehicles do not yield. as you can see in the videos i upload tricycle drivers do not move to the right lane (slow lane) and motorcycles do not even yield to the slow lane.. they occupy the fast lane... so you are forced to do overtake /maneuvering that some viewers criticize like(solid yellow lane white lane etc...) sometimes i think the lane markings here are painted wrong. i hope real drivers do the traffic design not those who just follow the technical rules over a manual. driving through experience is the best thing for a person to assess the situation.. not by books.. just my opinion hehehe... thank you for watching sir!
My sympathies, we have that problem with bicyclists here, they think the rules of the road don't apply to them and get rude to boot.

The curvy portion of AH26 in Matnog kinda reminds me of Bitukang Manok or Chicken's Intestines.
The one that goes up and down
one of the best roads i have driven for a provincial road can be found here.. the roads are paved well and the width of the road was just good (except for some small areas still not widened) I thought you wont see this hehehehe thanks for watching :-)
dmitrivalencia well yeah. But even EDSA is part of AH26 yet it feels like an ordinary road with traffic >_< Wonder if C5 will be part of AH26

I observed something wrong in your way of driving, you are not taking pre-caution when overtaking, you even do overtaking even if the road sign is yellow in your lane, meaning of that, no over taking in your curve lane.
