I dont think money wise Tennessee can compete with Texas and Tesas A&M. We may still beat them but the bets are on those teams. I dont think even Ohio St can do it every year. I think what we'll see is teams like Tennessee/Bama/Fla making runs about every 3 to 5 years and Ohio St would probably be in that group too. I would add ND and possibly Oregon to the Texas level of money also. IDK I think theres going to be really good teams make the playoffs but to win you really have to have money and even then be pretty much injury free.
Perhaps JJ also sees value in having Brian Hartline coach him. Ohio State also has Sayin, a gunslinger, who can get you the ball on the spot. OSU also offers other receivers that can take the pressure off and preserve his body. These things also matter. A star receiver without the other tools will catch less passes, get beat to a pulp, and eventually reduce his draft position.
There were factors other than money that put those teams at the top. OSU was loaded with Srs. I'd argue that was a bigger factor in OSU winning it all.
@@chasejackson7248 You mean the money that was spent on keeping those seniors on the team? That's where a majority of the money went was to the 4th and 5th year players on Ohio State who had been there since after high school.
Whatever happened to the “school” aspect of COLLEGE Football? When I played back in the early 80’s, we had to have a certain GPA, and had to score really high on the SAT’s, just to be able to enroll in college, let alone play college football. There’s NO WAY all these kids are smart enough to be in college, much less, pass the classes they’re in. There’s no such thing as STUDENT ATHLETES anymore! What a shame.

I don't mind the money but this was the first Ohio State title that I can remember that Ohio State was expected to win. Their two previous titles they were heavy underdogs winning against the odds. That kind of made it different to me.
@ScottCleve33 OSU was talented enough to win it all in 2015 with zeke and bosa, but we're left out because of one loss on a walk off field goal. There's other years an expanded playoffs would have benefited OSU. Many people were predicting a texas vs georgia natty
You’re not a Buckeye fan. I can see your other comments on here referring to Ohio State as “Ohio” (which is what Michigan fans do), and praising Michigan.

College football is a business that has gone to heck. It may as well make the wholesale change. I agree with your guest, its now a business, bring on the contracts.
The reason money has to be spent is to keep teams from trying to poach players. Most of the money Ohio State spent (abiut 80% to 90% of it) was used to retain players that were already on the roster. If they hadn't retained those players, they would have either gone to the NFL or Ohio State risked potentially losing them to other schools.

It’s the $20,000,000 club until they change the rules. I wonder if there will be 12 in the club who actually can compete equally. Those two receivers are staying at OSU. My Buckeyes, like Texas and Oregon, will always have all the NIL funds they need so college football is going to have the same teams competing every year regardless of the sports panel, which won’t work. Yep, $ talks!
20 mil sounds like the right amount to buy a natty team in these current realities. But IDK. 25 mil could be safer in 25/26? Vol fans will still want to be "in it" probably whatever it takes. And we CAN still do that with the fans staying even more committed. There is concern about passing over some "real" fans, and our VFLs by making it become all about money. Could that stop some of us from feeling like a part of the entertaining sport? Like it mostly has for me with the NFL. Even as passionate as I used to be. I still recall, back in the days of Madden and Pat live game coverage, when a prospective NEW GF just showed up at my house during an NFL play-off game on live TV. She was mentioning she was a little buzzed and maybe even "half drunk" In hindsight, clearly she would have been all in, had I just turned the game off. Back then, there was no steaming video pause button, but I was so locked on that NFL playoff being on that I over-looked any such distractions, and stuck to just watching the game. Can Vols football stay that great? He-he, I really hope so! Money is understandably important for everything in the real world. Even though I didn't get to play football for UT as in the childhood dreams, I somehow still feel a personal sense of pride about being a VOL fan. I hope the money facts don't steal all that too. But such is the ways of our world in these times. :(

I'm hearing that alot 🤔
The goal is to be the Tampa Bay Rays of the college football world.
It didn't take NIL to make buying tickets too expensive, it makes it just ridiculous. Biggest bank account will be the best team.
college sports is ruined
SPIRE sports has turned out to be an overhyped NIL flop.
Hmmm 🤔🤔
