Thank you everyone for supporting me in making the BattleTech Lore & History series. This is a compilation of the five Terran Alliance chapters. It has a few very minor additions, but they only amount to about a minute in total. I'll be playing MechWarrior 5: Clans this next week, so you'll see several videos from me on that, but I'll be working on the Third Succession War series in the evening. I'm hoping to get the next chapter finished before the end of the month. Hope to see you there for the premiere.
Have fun and good luck mechwarrior! look forward to what you have to say. ny usual policy is to wait a month or so, till they get the launch bugs out so i can better enjoy it. I hope there arent too many!
@@HereBeDragonsYT Gratsi. Seen a lot of creators cashing in on the uptick in BT popularity, so I wasn't sure if that one was legit or not. Sven, Big Red, Tex, Mechanical Frog... I will check this ome out, too.
It makes sense for writers from around 2010 to use him. He was still fairly well respected by most people at that point. and also definitely works even in the 2020s, because it immediately shows how different US history must’ve been .
Discovered BT a while back via the blackpants guys videos on it. Binged watched those and have hungered for more. You did nicely in this video, solid straight through without ever being boring. The images used were bloody nice and helped paint a picture in the mind. God I wish they would make a series (newer one) of this massive story. So much they could make if they tried.....and were willing to attempt it and keep true to it vs bs. Thanks for the enjoyable vid.
Thank you for this one! I really enjoyed the Terran Alliance Series and this has a nice length to watch it in one sitting. There's that base coated Jenner on my table waiting to be finished, so this might be an opportunity to watch the whole thing again😊
Thank you for your content and wealth of information on Battletech. For me it's super awesome getting back into it since I was a kid, and now playing with my son's on Mechwarrior Mercenaries and Clans is a lot of fun.
I'm am always amazed. This content is absolutely amazing. I was able to get so many miniatures painted by listening to this. This universe continues to amaze me.
Thank you for doing these videos, you have no idea how hekpful it is for someone like me that is new to the franchise to watch to be able to get a handle on the lore and the timeline of the universe, when otherwise its spread over near 4 decades worth of printed material.
This series is 3/4ths of the length of the entire Age of War series! I love the detail you can get out of the sources on these subjects, like actual historical research it is almost as extensible as you want to make it. I look forward to seeing more detail on these earlier periods!
One day I hope we get some Terran Hegemony content. For all the fuss about their rise and fall most people barely know anything about it beyond the Cameron family lore.

Just getting into the Battletech PC game from 2018. I played a little of the table top and PC game in the 90's and early 2000's but I had no idea how far back and detailed the lore was for Battletech. After 3-4hrs playing the 2018 strategy game, it's clear that this universe has a lot of lore but I didn't imagine it was this extensive. Is this all from Mechwarrior sourcebooks and novels?
At the 24 minute mark the car in that picture and the motorcycle.Look cool, but I wouldn't be caught dead in that truck.I'm a truck man.By the way and that truck is totally fugly.
One of the funnier aspect of the rise of the Terran Alliance was UK prime Minister Boris Johnson (now that is some peak forshadowing there Fasa!). But unlike reality he is described as a rather stern Character who talked about unification unlike Mr Brexit with the wild haircut
They're in the Star League sourcebook. There is another speech in the Kurita Housebook as well that McKenna gives when dissolving the Alliance and founding the Hegemony if you're interested.

The fact that my, as a Gorbachev apologist, prefered timeline of Mikey leading a democratic Russia eventually leads to the hell that is the Succession Wars is wild, and I am okay with it.
Is it just me, or is it a bit wildly rich that Battletech’s premise of beginning is the Reagan administration being the “great start” of it all? Like, of all fkn presidents to pick… him? 🧐😒
You have to remember Battletech was originally written in the 80's. They didn't know how the world would develop and might also have certain biases. And it probably made for the best start considering the Space Defense projects Reagan had on the table. Though unlike reality those projects were at least partially realized in the lore
@SvenVanDerPlank will you do a review? I've been binge watching all your lore vids to get ready for Clans. I wanted to see if the game is pretty accurate to the actual lore
So, the timelines diverge somewhere in the 1990s. Rudy Ghouliani, is president? Well, considering what we had 2016-2021, I guess nothing could be seen as completely ridiculous.
@@SvenVanDerPlank ; So, SDI (Star Wars), something that was said to be the deterrent that brought down the Soviet Union, And it never even worked. I suppose that it's as good as any other thing to start a divergent timeline.
11:50 - As an Asian historian, I find it hilariously amusing and downright racist of the Battletech lore to think that ANY Asian nations would ally with Communist China, ESPECIALLY under the auspices of an "Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere," given the negative connotations associated with that VERY SPECIFIC phrasing (specifically the IRL history of systematic oppression and genocide of other Asian nations, in the name of "co-prosperity"), and the ChiCom history of human rights violations.
Much of this super early stuff was written in the 1980s and exhibits quite a bit of cultural ignorance. I'm sure those name references were accidental either, they were definitely going for that association. I've seen a few people point to the fact that the Asian dominated nations (Capellan Confederation and Draconis Combine) were often characterised as villains in the 1980s material as an example of Yellow Peril.
Early BT was FULL of that kind of stuff. From what ive read, a lot of the people that worked on early BT for FASA were the sons of the auto manufacturers that got ruined by Asian automakers like Toyota, or at least they blamed Toyota and other such companies. So the Yellow Peril thing + a bit of stolen jobs salt is probably correct.
I feel like an in-universe explanation that would make more sense would be that it was never really an alliance, but instead was conquest propagandized as though it were peaceful, and the people of hundreds of years later have just lost the true story of what really happened. This has already happened to various extents in countries now under their thumb that most of the world now just sees as part of China.
I not know about the rest of the community, but I really not like the new Mechwarrior 5 The Clans game, the only good new thing it have are the fancy graphics and the warships, and I hate the fancy graphics, going photo realistic killed all the style of previous games, I not need to be photo realistic to enjoy the game, I didn't need the game weight 80G of digital space to enjoy the game, when the original weight 50G, this is like Sin of the Solar Empire, all the emphasis on the flashy graphics not everyone forgot about the game a month after release.
