I really like it, it looks much better than regular evas. On the other hand, I've never been a big fan of them.... I bought it because of it being so unusual. I'd love for Meng go for other units and release for example Provisional Unit-05, Crimson A1 or Allegorica. Edit: A word of warning, when building the mechanical hand be really careful! I put the phalanxes closest to the palm the wrong way. When I realised it and tried to remove one of the fingers to correct it (I tried to be careful) the nub keeping it in place snapped, sooooo, now I have Eva with a yubitsume.
if you wanted an even stranger-looking Eva Unit there is also the one where they can transform into bullet trains courtesy of a crossover with the anime Shinkalion, lol.
The design has grown on me a bit, though the minigun and pizza cutter weapons still look ugly. I would like to see a Jet Alone version using all the non-Unit 02 parts. Weird how we haven't gotten a kit of that yet
I like Mengs kits for their size, but their service left a bad taste in my mouth. I pre-ordered the first run of Unit 01 and have it built but not painted. When the rerun dropped and they had adjusted the sizeo of the head, I asked their customer service if I could purchase those runners as replacements, since they messed up the size in the first run. They weren't exactly keen on that. They said I needed to show proof of purchase of the specifc version/run I wanted replacements for, didn't matter that it was the same model. Not cool when you go out on a limb to support a new makers new unproven series of kits ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have this and it's a fantastic build! Better details vs the Kotobukia version of course. Less undergated parts than the other Meng kits but they hid the nubs very well. Left shoulder tends to pop off easy due to the armor. I would love this to be the same size as the other Meng models but I guess the price point would be doubled. Too bad the mouth don't open at this scale.
All I have to say is ditch that massive backpack and make both arms like the green one, and I'd happily buy 100 of that version. I'm too attached to symmetry and always want to fix asymmetry and feel like seeing this with the green armor complete would look awesome.
I'm usually a fan of mechs with crazy designs/over the top armaments (Gundam ex-s, Sazabi, byarlant custom,etc) but this design isn't really doing anything for me. And eva-02 is my fav unit. This just....seems out of place for eva.

Thanks for the advice! Made a COSTLY mistake on the unit 02 torso and long story short I have the 1.5 ver preordered and a half built unit 02.

That big kit of the Rebuild EVA-02 is massive. The detail on this kit from Meng is fantastic.
