I hope you don't take that stuff seriously. You realize that they can't actually do like detailed clinical tests to see if people who laugh more get cancer less than people who don't. How would you even test that? Keep them under observation for fifty years and subject them to radiation, while showing comedies to half of them and not to the other half? It's a bunch of people, like 500 random people, they get to fill out periodic questionnaires with a bunch of questions about all kinds of things, over many years. Is to them to rate how often they laugh or don't laugh, with all the inherent variations in responses between people and how they interpret the question. Then they keep track of eventual heath outcomes, and then they look through their statistical responses to see if there appear to be any correlations. If someone says "hey, the people who said they laugh 'frequently' died of cancer 2% less frequently than those who said 'rarely'", that's "statistically significant, and can publish an article saying "studies have shown that laughter may help prevent cancer". Totally ignoring the variables in responses and other factors, like people who smoke more are probably less inclined to laugh, especially as they get older. Health suffers _from the smoking_ and smokers are statistically from a lower economic class of people who live harder lives, are more likely to face economic stresses, alcoholism and drug abuse, unhappy living conditions, child abuse. They are also more likely to eat unhealthy and be exposed to chemicals and sun while working physically more demanding jobs. That means they are less likely to laugh a lot, _and_ are more likely to get cancer, but that's not _because_ they laugh less. They laugh less for the same reasons they are not likely to get cancer.
Although the odds are not vastly different in either case. It just has to be "statistically significant", which can be a very small difference indeed. It doesn't mean you are like half as likely to get cancer if you laugh a lot, it means a tiny but measurable difference in outcomes. That's why you don't ever believe statistics or studies, unless you fully know and understand the data it's based on. Because it's an easy was to lie and mislead people.
Not that I would claim laughed isn't good for you, but I think it's mostly mental benefits. I don't buy the cancer fighting thing. It's definitely not going to harm you. Crying is just as good. If nothing else they will both make you feel better, which is worthwhile.

I once got a copy (probably pirated) from Cambodia of the Two Towers. It had "English" subtitles, but clearly it was someone who doesn't speak English that well. So certain lines got messed up severly. Like when Gimli shouted to the warg, "Bring your pretty face to my axe!" The subtitles said, "Bring your pussy face to my ass!" I can never watch that scene without dying of laughter now.
