Björn Gelotte and Jesper Strömblad of melodic death metal pioneer In Flames give a lesson on their popular opening track to 2000's Clayman album, 'Bullet Ride'.
Apostolos Katsioulas Aye, he always seemed to shadowed by Björn, BUT he had his own sound that not even niclas could achieve in one album, let alone 3 (we can hope)
I swear, Bjorn treats Jesper like Silent Bob. The look on Jesper's face is priceless every time that Bjorn counts in Swedish. Bjorn reminds me of the slow kid with an Abba inspired speak and spell. Great music though and I am really looking forward to the new album by The Resistance. One more thing, am I the only one that wants to see one of these videos for "December Flower" and in better quality than 480P?!?
Hmm, try revalver or poulin. Do some research on amp sim tones. There's forum boards that'll give you great advice on how to tweak a great tone. I can try to help you out as well.
conjuring up a killer tone to the likes of a studio album is pretty damn tough. It's still a bit tough to me, but it's definitely possible. I think one of the breaking points is getting a good Cabinet impulse as well. Those mimic real life mic/cabinet setups. There's a lot of really good ones out there, but you gotta do research on which one is for you.
@WrongMovie Hmm, not everyone knows what a bsus4 is like? We're living in 2011, the age of Google mate. You can get shitloads of charts and videos that will gladly explain what bsus4 is like. It doesn't even require effort, just a few clicks ;]
Great that you can play it and know how to, but the explanation wasn't that good at least for a advanced beginner. What about fret pattern overlays in the video? Not everyone knows what a bsus4 is like. But thanks for the video. Please more songs from in flames ;)
drop tunings are fun but don't sell your self short. standard tuning formats is the way the get tightness and challenge yourself into a better musician. suffering is worth it . f%ck the easy way! you will only bottleneck your abilities!
Why do i always go back to these videos over and over again? Watch them at least once a day
"you can cheat a little if you want, he does" lmao
Jesper's pick technique is fascinating.
Started listening to IF a lot again recently. That main riff will always be one of my all time faves.
miss that brutal sound of Jesper's explorer

TehFeralPanda It's sad that when they performed it on Rock am Ring this year Bjorn mostly played the solo.
every day
He recorded with les pauls, the explorers were a live thing
@@Sticky_Tea until soundtrack to your escape it was esp explorer.
i soooo damn love the Intro from bullet ride!! awesome!!!
how the hell can they write such insane songs?inhuman
Wish they would use the same tones on their new albums.
’It’s featured on the Clayman album, I believe.’ LIKE YOU DON’T KNOW.
It's called humour...
that tone is spectacular !!!!! want it sooo bad

I hear a bit of Kashmir in there.
That's what I thought, they turned that riff into one of the best songs I've ever heard.
Buy EMG pickups, a peavey 5150/6505 (or even an ENGL amp) and Elixir baritone (0.12-0.68) strings -> tune to A#. Problem solved.
That ain’t gonna get you their tone lol millions of people have tried nobody ever gets it
Legends! One of my all time faves! 🙏✨🤘
@415System C Standard. From Colony onwards, they've used Drop A#.
Jesus christ, Björns tone is so epic
Jesper is a true legend
that tone is killer!! i want it!!
At 4:47 I thought he's gonna play Satyricon - Mother north lol
That squeal is amazing.
peavey 6505/5101, tube screamer pedal, 2 shure sm57 mic's one straight one slanted.
Google their setup.
2:36 - 2:48
Nostalgia
Настоящий инфлеминс
MasterClass!!
And it's free
Masterpiece👍🎸
Damn 10 years ago....!!!
I LOVE THIS :D
@Noctis15 Get yourself a Peavy 5150 half stack but I don't remember what they use for pedals
ur goddamn right
4:40-4:46 lol did he just make a subtle reference to Jesper's alcoholism?
I wish the intro to this song lasted 5 minutes and didn’t quiet down. I would destroy the earth.
1:10
jesper is like.. yeah dude.. go on go on...
Ahaha no droppings! That one got me :D
Where can I find this tab?
at songsterr.com just look up bullet ride
Where can I find the definitive tab for the tune? Loads of contradictions on the net, even as far as the tuning.
the initial riff is quite a bit tricky. They play the solo strings (palm mutes) with down strokes and the rest in alternate. Strange feeling for me
Peavey 5150, 1425E........ Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom: 1535E

check out the resistance. jespers band kinda
what is the name of intro?
Where is Jesper? Is he playing with some new band?

Why not play it in drop C? I learned most of it that way. Made slot of since, until I watched this video. Comments?
Jody Felland cause obviously they didn't write it that way
whats the tunnung?
No droppings!
i think i hear a noise gate pedal on bjorns guitar

@WrongReply Hey how's your guitar journey going? Ever figure out how to play a Bsus4?
straight B? wtf this guitar is tunes in c-standars right? so what he i playing at the beginning is nowhere near a B... oO''
Or if you can't afford that, start investing in amp simulators, cheaper but sounds great.
Jesper's thumb
@Crimzoon silence...
SO......MUCH....GAIN........
I don’t have enough likes for this video
It's the same song, the one they're teaching. Bullet Ride.
@Noctis15 just a joke, no hard feelings. But there's no problem geting a sound. Tune your guitar to the sound u prefer. For this C.
Минск Беларусь OK
No droppings, lmao
God, they need noise gates.
he keeps saying the notes as if his guitar is tuned in E but it isn't...
@iqless7313 Most people are used to E standard terminology.
Why is Bjorn being such an asshole to Jesper?
Drop C is easier than C :D
Drop C is easier than C if you're a puh-C.
