Also there is the PC-only audience that is pretty large and they're the ones legitimately waiting and keeping this topic relevant I believe.
you are absolutely right, and this is reflected in digital prices for the Souls series games. Before Elden Ring, you could get Dark Souls 1 and 3 for under 10 dollars. Afterwards, their on sale prices never go under 20.

I think a major reason why people are rolling their eyes at the Horizon remaster is that we don't need it. The game already has a PC port that runs at 60fps and looks great visually. See the issue? The game already got ported on PC at 60fps and yet it's getting remastered again. Meanwhile Bloodborne is still stuck on the ps4 at 30fps (max). They could just make a barebone remaster with awfully low costs, basically just a PC port with 60fps and minor improvements, and it would still sell well. It's free money.
Idk if I'm in the minority with this or not, but all I'd want from it is 60fps+, higher resolution support, and some post process AA options like FXAA, SMAA and TAA just to smooth out the image. I wouldn't want them to really touch anything to do with the actual game assets. But that's never going to happen now. It will either be a third party remake with numerous questionable design changes, or nothing at all. Probably the latter. The only hope I have for it is emulation. Or maybe a very unlikely unofficial fan port based on leaked code 10+ years from now that gets DMCA'd almost insantly lol.
Idk exactly how Bloodborne’s engine works, but most if not all of Fromsoft’s games are inherently tied to their frame rates, so it may not be as simple as ‘just make it 60 fps,’ it’s possible that they’d have to recode a bunch to make it stable. Though I really have no clue if that’s the case
@@samael4550 That's the thing though, Bloodborne is fully capable of supporting 60fps. You just need to update it to do so. Regarding the third point- Bloodborne’s graphics may not be 100% hyper ultra fidelity, but it’s still a damn good looking game, both artistically and graphically. Like, if it were N64 or PS1 level graphics I could understand. But in my book anything GameCube or above quality shouldn’t be as high of a priority to remaster solely for a graphical update.
Pretty much this. Bloodborne was a PS4 game. It's only single generation out of date. There shouldn't be any reason it "needs" a remake any earlier than the PS6.

The only reason I'm still hoping for Sony to remaster and port Bloodborne to PC is the fact that they did it with The Last of Us p1. The original was from 2013.
You can never doubt the big wigs behind, first making and then, re-realising Morbius, and banking on the mega hit Concord, to do the right financial decisions. They have it in the bag!
While I agree with the premise that remastering/remaking games that sold the most *first* is the correct business decision, we have a recent example where this rule doesn't apply. Demon's Souls Remake. If not for the prior rumors, nobody would've believed it. Surely nobody at Sony looked at this and said "yeah, that's the best business decision". There are other things at play here. The 3 years and resources spent on that project could've been spent elsewhere and generated A LOT more money. Also, remastering bloodborne alone and releasing it exclusively on the ps5 is a dumb move in my opinion. Like you said, it would sell a third of the PS4 version at best. However, a day and date release on PC could very well make it a 10m sales product considering the sheer amount of souls fans on PC and the momentum the souls games have been gaining since Elden Ring. Looking at past PS4 sales alone is NOT a good way of predicting future sales of a remaster in my opinion. There's a lot at play here in Bloodborne's particular case. Great video! Your hunch about the legal battle doesn't seem that out there. It could very well be true.
As other people have said here, the big reason that justifies a remake/remaster is because Elden Ring came out and sold loads. If you asked me two years ago about a bloodborne remake, I wouldnt have cared because I never played it. Since playing Elden Ring Ive gone back and played it and all the DS games and would now love a remake/remaster.
My assumption is that From's time and manpower, especially since Elden Ring, is so valuable that commisioning them to do a remaster/port is simply not cost effective for Sony. This assumes From owns the Code, and Sony the IP.
I don't care about a remaster, I would be happy with a straight port of BB and Demon's Souls to PC. Seems like a no-brainer to me considering the size of the PC market and the minimal amount of investment required of Sony.
My money's on them having Bluepoint doing a remake of it as a launch title for PS6, like they did with Demons Souls. They know people want it, and what better way to push future console sales?
tbh sony goes back in forth between being solely numbers driven and allowing passion projects to cook Cuz I think the immediate refutation to this is that the Demons Souls remake happened. Shit, all the Bluepoint projects were remakes of Sony funded projects that *didn't* sell too well in the start. That, and Sony COMPLETELY owns Bloodborne. Fromsoft wouldn't really need to be involved or even alerted to the existence of a remake.
I expect Bluepoint to finish thier original project and then hopefully they will be tasked to work on a Bloodborne remaster, but the original still holds up even if its only 30FPS.
Well, maybe the remasters only sell a fraction of its original because Sony keeps remastering games that no one cares or talks about or even needs a remaster. But if they remaster a game that needs one off the back of a smash hit like ER, will the results be different? Demon's Souls for example sold 1.1mil when the original only sold 500k. Doubled, still low, but keep in mind this was released exclusively to a console that no one could buy. Personally, I loathe the thought of Bb remaster because I know they're going to f××× it up somehow, so every year that passes without it is blessed in my eyes. In truth, I'm sure they already remastered it and are waiting for the right opportunity to drop it.
I dont want a remaster necessarily, just for them to do something with the ip. Its been nearly a DECADE since the game released and sony hasnt done squat
My counterpoint to this is the audience. Their other IPs were broadly succesful for the majority, aka mainstream audience. No problem with having them make the mainstream a priority. But I, as a souls player, don't own a PS5 and probably wont get a PS6. They are not getting the souls community to buy a ps5 unless its Bloodborne, imo. What I have in mind is that they may probably make a new game with from, in the future years or with an in-house studio, and then they may get a soft remaster of BB to get the souls audience to buy a ps5 or ps6. But I dont see them getting BB out otherwise. We are getting the emulation beforehand though.
You'd think Sony would want to make money after concord or something 😂 In all seriousness , a remake wouldn't cost a huge amount to make and it will sell. Armored core 6 was a decent enough success despite being niche. Nobody is saying booodborne will break elden ring numbers. It's more that the game deserves to be on platforms that can run it at more than 60fps. There's no good reason to make a Demon's souls remake and not a bloodborne one. I personally don't care but seems like a way better idea to do a bloodborne remake than whatever they did with concord's 400millions
yeah, makes sense, but what about Demon's Souls? that game didn't sell all that well, it was a niche game, and the REMADE the whole thing. not remaster, remade.
But wait. There is a chance that we won't be able to play PS4 games on ps6, or maybe ps7, u know where I'm going here... Bloodborne can fall into depths of forgetting....
You should ask how many times it's been downloaded. Not sold BCS Bldborn is free for PS pass The problem with Bldborn is that it's like a double edge sword . Either Sony remaster it then has to probably continuing giving it away free on pass and use it only for publicity purpose instead of profit Or make it on PC to generate high profit but then it will lose its exclusive integrity
Sony was outspokingly happy about Bloodborne's sales and also thought it did better than expected. This was also a decade ago - Fromsoftware has done nothing but trend upwards and become a household name for gamers. Bloodborne would sell better now for a number of reasons 1. PS5 is seriously lacking games, but also has a larger player base that know Fromsofftware 2. It would, most likely, get a PC release some time down the road (I expect Demon's Souls will too) The main reason, I suspect, Bloodborne hasn't gotten a remaster or remake yet is due to Sony wanting Fromsoftware themselves working on it. Not outsourcing it to another company or another company in house. There is no way Sony doesn't take not of it constantly trending every time an award show comes up. We will get a remaster/remake one day, whether it's during the PS5 life cycle who knows. I'd be surprised if it's not.
I don't agree with you In my opinion the amount of copies bloodborne did sell is 7 million and that's just on ps4 The amount of copies did ds3 sell is 12million And just 3.9 million sold in ps4 I don't think it's about the sales Sony own demon's souls ip and it only sold 2.5million and they decided to make a remastered of demon's souls even it sold less than half bloodborne sales I really don't understand Sony's decisions anymore.
Another thing i want to mention Elden ring sold 25million And most of it's sales came from ps4/ps5 i read it's about 41% of the sales is on playstation If you calculate the amount sold on playstation is about 10million That is on 2024 not 2015 when fromsoftware studio didn't have much fans as today and even with that bloodborne sell over 7 million
You make a good point about the sales numbers. However, I would like to offer a counterpoint. Currently, Sony has a serious problem of just not having enough first party titles, with the ones they do have being too similar. 60 fps BB would at least be something Sony could add to the pile that isn't in the same vein as nu God of War or the Spiderman games.
Very much agree with people overestimating its value. If theres two niches that turn off most gamers its soulslike and horror. Elden Ring was a hit but largely because they made it alot more accessible. Its a vocal minority that gasses up BloodBorne so much. No PC port is a real shame though.
You're acting as if Elden Ring wouldn't just boost the sales of Bloodborne even more, do you think business people don't see the massive upward trend of FromSoft's releases? Also Bloodborne was undoubtedly a massive success by itself, it sold way more than the original Dark Souls did and even that was a great success for FromSoft. It was the best selling game the month it came out in Japan and the 2nd best selling in the US and the UK. One of Sony's managing directors even said that the game was a much bigger success than they anticipated "We looked at the Souls series as a frame of reference, and we thought we could do better than that. We did-and then some." If you add how much more popular FromSoft is today, remastering it is a no-brainer
Even tho u brought it up in ur video about cost to make the game being lower, u really are underestimating the sale/cost ratio. Armored core 6, fully new game by fromsoft crossed only 3 mil sales, but it seen as a massive success to them cause the sale/cost ratio is very high. The simple fact that all Sony needs to do is put the game at 60 fps, the bare minimum of work and still get 3 mil sales is insane money. Dark souls 3 and sekiro managed to sell 10 mil and they are multi platform, with most of their sales coming from PC, so 7 mil for bloodborne is very impressive, even if some are from ps+ and its cheap price on ps hits
Maybe a cope but a counterpoint could be that if many people already played the OG of say TLOU or Horizon, then naturally the rerelease won't sell as much cause people already played it/own it. With BB, the state of FS was... "less valuable" lets say. Now its a beloved well known studio. Still relatively niche, but draws more eyes than it used to. Demon's Souls remake obviously sold more than OG Demon's Souls.
Yeah but then you see what happened with concord and you understand why they won't make a bloodborne remake. Executives are morons, the fact that they don't take into consideration every aspect that could make a game succeed is their flaw. Sony's executives really thought bringing another overwatch to the market would be a huge success, yet they learned the hard truth that consumers do not care and they had to shut that down. They won't learn from their mistakes they will just keep trying until it works I guess.
Fucka remake we need Bloodborne 2. As much as I would love a remaster on PC. I think yoy might be right about the second Scenario as to why no BB. But it's hard ti believe with Eldn Rings success Sony wouldn't want a piece of that by making something anything BB.
Like I don't mean to offend anyone but I really don't like bloodborne, the main problem for me is that whole buying bullets thing, it makes me not want to use them or experiment, same with health viles
I don't really get why they wouldnt just port it over to pc though, thats really all i need haha... how could that be expensive enough to not be profitable? Even a shitty no-effort pc port would sell at least a couple million copies, right? but yeah i know its not happening lol
My logic is that companies like money and PC Bloodborne equals printing therefore it's bound to happen eventually. Or maybe that's just the cope of a souls vet? You decide. Edit: just listened to what you actually said.. that's kinda depressing. We as the fans definitely do overvalue Bloodborne, eh?
most of the arguments in this video are pretty much useless when you consider they REMADE the entirety of demon's souls and the original barely sold a million, the remake went on to sell more and was seen internally as a success, Bloodborne sold 8 million which almost equals Dark souls 3 sales (a multiplatform), and all of this in the Pre Elden Ring era, in 2024 everything that even has the thinnest of fromsoftware's aura becomes a blockbuster Armored Core 6 proved that already, not taking use of the momentum is quite frankly retarded.
very good insight and very practical. never completed BB but would be cool to play a remaster. the volume of the senseless "bloodborne remaster when?" comments seem to make it more and more frustrating. no more copium
As much as I love the gothic aura of Bloodborne, it just doesn’t have enough meat to chew on & the meat that is worth if chewing on doesn’t last very long
Why do you guys want one so bad. Why not... Something else... If they do remaster it half of yall are gonna complain about the sales the other half are gonna say they ruined it. Some of y'all never had only one game that you just had to play until the disk fried and it shows. It's gonna still be a great game in 10 years and we'll be glad it never got a remaster. Like demon souls.
Most of us are pc scrabs. We just want pc port, nothing more. Because once something is on pc its much easier to screw around with it, mods or use assets for something other etc. No matter if that ports ends up as shit as Prepare to die edition, we can still manage it (right now cracked pc port only got its fps uncapped and half of lightning, textures and physics broke, it will be long while till its fixed, it would be much faster if sony just leaks sorce code and be done with it but that will never happened)
@@madkoala2130 see this is why I mentioned the fried disk. Bc if you wanna play some classic games, sometimes you gotta go to great lengths and readapt the technology of the time. For instance golden eye. Or the early Pokemons. Even PS2 games. I guess pc gamers just wouldn't understand that part.
Man infomercial woke up today and decided to take away all of the bloodborne fans copium, myself included 🤣. But I understand why it probably wont get a remaster. And down the line with ps6, even IF they do, id want them to change stuff that irked me about the base game. For example, the bell maiden system. Absolute garbage.
in essence, cult following and internet echo chamber doesn't reflect the true popularity of something. Bloodborne is the lowest selling from soft game since demon soul. It was, commercialy, a failure compared to other fromsoft games.
Bad arguments. Sure, The Last of Us sold worse than its original release, but it was their second time remastering it. So they were essentially selling the same game for the third time. It's not a fair comparison. Meanwhile Fromsoftware's following has increazed DRASTICALLY since 2015, when they weren't a household name yet. Looking at Demon's Souls, which was remade, it sold BETTER than the original release. Not as good, BETTER. And that's on a brand new system that suffered from shortages and manufacturing issues on release and therefore has a much smaller playerbase than the PS3 had. So it's safe to say a BloodBorne remaster would sell better than what you'd expect. Also, people are getting mad at Horizon because that game is 5 YEARS OLD. It did NOT need a remaster. It looked good enough and this feels just like a cashgrab. I don't think it will sell as much as Sony would hope.
It's not just the PC players that want this. I played it on PS4 and I can't stop thinking about how amazing it would be to play this masterpiece at 4K/60
Oh we will all have Bloodborne at 60fps. Perhaps by Christmas. Even if it takes longer, I've waited a long time. At least someone finally said, "If they won't do it, I'll do it myself".
If they don't view it as profitable to remaster or remake Bloodborne, then they should just sell the IP if they're going to do nothing with it. Sony could sell it back to FromSoft. But will they? Probably not because Sony is Sony.
They were more than happy to port Sackboy and Returnal to PC, both of which sold infinitely less copies than bloodborne, so the amount of sales ain't the problem
The business thing is correct however, they are remastering games like until dawn which sold less than bloodborne. They would 100 percent make profit by remastering bloodborne. Like remaking demons souls is the real head scratcher because that’s the least lucrative fromsoftware title in the souls series but they remade that one. Bloodborne is the most popular fromsoft game behind elden ring. They’d make profit without question
Finally something to stop my brain from going ooga booga ape monkey mode whenever I see the possibility of a new game release that I want. It’s as if you scratched an itch in my brain by telling me all this.

Don't even want a remake or remaster, I'd take a barebones PC port
Sony may give it the Demon's Souls remake treatment: locked behind PS6
tbh sony goes back in forth between being solely numbers driven and allowing passion projects to cook
Cuz I think the immediate refutation to this is that the Demons Souls remake happened.
Just wait to play on pc at 60 fps. Regarding graphical updates, Fromsoftserve is already working on his own remaster.
If its truly a money issue, why is horizon zero getting a remaster? Ive heard literally nothing about that game
Its been nearly a DECADE since the game released and sony hasnt done squat
and its gonna stay that way lol.
4:36 clearly the TLOU softcap is 1
Its actually because the game doesn't need a remaster or remake. Stop this remake culture.
It needs a 60 fps update. That’s it
@@Eggcornbean no, it doesn't need. It would be cool, yes, but not needed. Enough of remakes and remasters.
The emulation community will take care of that - for free.
The stuff they’re doing for Bloodborne PC is an incredible achievement. Really neat
It would not be a whole lotta resources tho for a port to pc and a ps5 port as well with 60 fps for a remaster bar minimum
It’s either PS6 release remaster like Demon’s Souls or nothing
You'd think Sony would want to make money after concord or something 😂
In all seriousness , a remake wouldn't cost a huge amount to make and it will sell.
Lets talk about the real elephant in the Room: King's Field 1 & 2 is still exclusive to the PSX.
But wait.
There is a chance that we won't be able to play PS4 games on ps6, or maybe ps7, u know where I'm going here... Bloodborne can fall into depths of forgetting....
The main PS5 model over here in Europe already isnt backwards compatible with PS4 games. No optical drive.
Never say never!
Put it on pc and make it so that game isnt 30 fps and it will sell
And you dont talk about demon souls remake , how did that happened?
You should ask how many times it's been downloaded. Not sold
BCS Bldborn is free for PS pass
The problem with Bldborn is that it's like a double edge sword .
Either Sony remaster it then has to probably continuing giving it away free on pass and use it only for publicity purpose instead of profit
Or make it on PC to generate high profit but then it will lose its exclusive integrity
They'll announce a remaster when they announce bloodborne 2
From software probably wont do another exclusive. After elden rings success they have enough money not to do that
Well, soon we won't have to rely on Sony anymore.
6:38 just consider hzd was bundled with the ps4 pro back in the day, a big reason of why it sold so much
Sony was outspokingly happy about Bloodborne's sales and also thought it did better than expected. This was also a decade ago - Fromsoftware has done nothing but trend upwards and become a household name for gamers. Bloodborne would sell better now for a number of reasons 1. PS5 is seriously lacking games, but also has a larger player base that know Fromsofftware 2. It would, most likely, get a PC release some time down the road (I expect Demon's Souls will too)
The main reason, I suspect, Bloodborne hasn't gotten a remaster or remake yet is due to Sony wanting Fromsoftware themselves working on it. Not outsourcing it to another company or another company in house. There is no way Sony doesn't take not of it constantly trending every time an award show comes up.
We will get a remaster/remake one day, whether it's during the PS5 life cycle who knows. I'd be surprised if it's not.
I don't agree with you
In my opinion the amount of copies bloodborne did sell is 7 million and that's just on ps4
The amount of copies did ds3 sell is 12million
And just 3.9 million sold in ps4
I don't think it's about the sales
Sony own demon's souls ip and it only sold 2.5million and they decided to make a remastered of demon's souls even it sold less than half bloodborne sales
I really don't understand Sony's decisions anymore.
Another thing i want to mention
Elden ring sold 25million
And most of it's sales came from ps4/ps5 i read it's about 41% of the sales is on playstation
If you calculate the amount sold on playstation is about 10million
That is on 2024 not 2015 when fromsoftware studio didn't have much fans as today and even with that bloodborne sell over 7 million
Remaster Nightmare Creatures!
In what world would a demon souls remaster bring a better return on investment than bloodborne?
We did-and then some."
If you add how much more popular FromSoft is today, remastering it is a no-brainer
Ps6 launch title. Like demon souls for ps5.
Still wouldnt make me want a PS6 😂
One issue with your explanation - explain the Demons Souls remake considering what you think. Can’t be explained with that.
Actual heresy
As much as I love the gothic aura of Bloodborne, it just doesn’t have enough meat to chew on & the meat that is worth if chewing on doesn’t last very long
How do you stop lying to yourself, I need help
I don't even want a remake, the Demon's Souls remake is awful. Just a straight PC port would be more than enough for me.
It was, commercialy, a failure compared to other fromsoft games.
only 17 views in 12 minutes?
Not a very big channel
why does that matter
@@ScrubbTheTarnished it's a joke...
Sony isn’t remastering Bloodborne because they’re still stuck fighting the wolf.
That game looks great already, why remaster it?
a lot of people want a higher framerate. I can understand that (I can live with 30 fps and sub fps on it).
This guy: Sony are business geniuses who only make the most profitable decisions, which they are able to magically foresee.
Sony: releases Concord
Bloodborne is completely owned by Sony.
Until dawn is getting a remaster and it sold 4 million but bloodborne sold 3 million more and they’re still not doing shit for bloodborne
Finally something to stop my brain from going ooga booga ape monkey mode whenever I see the possibility of a new game release that I want. It’s as if you scratched an itch in my brain by telling me all this.
I disagree,
Days Gone is getting a remaster and it sold less than Bloodborne.
Bethesda touching Elden ring would ruin it
So they picked Concord XD
Then why not a sequal?!
I'm on the side of no sequel
Games trash anyways
Soyny.
