Hello, My laptop (i3 7020U @ 2.30GHz) currently has DDR4 -2666MHz CL15 SODIMM 4GB RAM on one slot. I want to upgrade the RAM. As you said I searched on the Crucial website and found DDR4 2666 MHz CL19 SODIMM 4GB RAM for the remaining second slot. The difference I found is CL 15 and CL 19. Does this matter? I am not a gamer or a video editor - A normal User. Does the newly found RAM suits for my laptop? What will be the effect if it changed to CL19. Your presentation is very good.
It's just mean the latency of the ram. If the number after CL is small then the latency is lower. U can use two ram with different latencies. If so, rams will work on the latency of the ram with higher CL number.

ഞാൻ RAM ന്റെ CAS latency എന്നൊരു parameter കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. Upgrade ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ latency timing match ചെയ്യണമെന്ന് പറയുന്നു. ഈയിടെ ഞാൻ laptop RAM upgrade ചെയ്തു. Laptop ൽ 2400 MHz 4GB DDR4 ആണ് in built ഉള്ളത്. CPUID യിൽ latency values 17-17-17 എന്നാണ് കാണിക്കുന്നത്.
ആമസോണിൽ നോക്കുമ്പോൾ 1500 രൂപയ്ക്ക്. G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR4 2400 MHz RAM കണ്ടു പക്ഷേ അതിന്റെ timing 16-16-16 ആണ്. laptop ന് match ആയില്ലെങ്കിലോ എന്നു കരുതി എന്റെ laptop ന് match ആകുന്ന 17 - 17 - 17 timing ഉള്ള Kingston ന്റെ 2400 Mhz 4GB DDR 4 RAM വാങ്ങി പക്ഷേ അതിന് G.Skill നേക്കാൾ ഏകദേശം 250 രൂപ കൂടുതലായിരുന്നു.
G.Skil ന്റെ RAM heat sink ഒക്കെയുള്ള ഒരു Gaming oriented RAM ആയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ Kingston ന്റേത് ഒരു സാധാരണ RAM ആയിരുന്നു.
ഞാൻ CL-16 timing ഉള്ള RAM എടുക്കുന്നതിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും അപാകത ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നോ? ആമസോണിൽ RAM ന് return policy ഇല്ലായിരുന്നതിനാൽ risk എടുക്കണ്ടാ എന്നു കരുതി.

Ram will not necessarily speed up your system. If some application demands high amount of ram or if you multi task too much then you will be needing ram for performance otherwise there is no use in upgrading the ram. Here I'll recommend using minimum of 8gb ram though. If you want a better performance overall then consider using a ssd if you have a hdd.

So It's better to upgrade to 8gb then. Also check which applications are using too much ram, if it's not needed then uninstall it.
