I loved that part 2:16, hopefully we get unique bonus secret caverns with crazy challenges such as fighting dozen Hanmuru dolls in a wide open area zone with many obstacles and maybe add in some new unique enemies and bosses that weren't in the original. also we want the town that was cut before release to be added to the final version.
Bro I really don't comment on much but I've watched all your updates in one day today and its a whole serotonin boost that your giving this much care and attention to the series and I'm tickled pink with the work so far, please keep it up and I'm excited for the next update!
So cool! I'd love to see more MML style games in the world, hopefully when you've got a good base you'll consider selling it as a template project on the unity store.
This is amazing and I can't wait to see more. You really don't notice how much the bobbing in the run cycle does till it's not there though haha. Cutscene looks great! It's wild to see no screenshake and the spots where less or more frames of animation help or hurt. Fascinating to look at
Omg that recreation of the first scene was superb! i feel like with better control of megaman, enemy ai might need tweaking to account for the extra mobility, like the boss for instance; doing his single ground pound seems far too easy to run around, maybe add a horizontal slash, make it so he telegraphs it fairly to use his 'roll dodge'. not sure how easy that feat is, but just an idea! As someone that's been a legends fan and hoping for that 3rd game, this would be a nice consolation prize for Capcoms betrayal.
As per usual, it just gets better and better man! This is amazing, the effort you've put into this is second to none so far, and I am still looking forward to the demo, whenever it happens! It really is getting close to being, in some ways (and from a non-programmer, monke brain point of view lol), indistinguishable and yet way better at the same time, much smoother and better looking/sounding! Great to see you're still at it and finding time to continue on, despite being busy! Take all the time you need, don't burn yourself out on it! But also keep up the good work! Everyone in the MML community that finds this is cheering ya on!
Hey man! This is getting freaking good, I hope that is gone be a open project, so people can alter the game in later build. I can't even describe how incredible it will gone be to make mods for Megaman legends!
I would love to allow people to make mods for this! I just dont know what that entails Haha! Source code will be released once I get the main base finished 👍
This is a stunning find. I was hoping I'd be able to find some sort of AI upscale project, and then I stumble on THIS - a remake project. Really liking what I'm seeing. Any possibility you might experiment with a first-person mode?
Amazing work dude! It keeps getting better and better and I really appreciate all the effort you put into this. I'm looking forward to seeing how this project evolves, and I wish you the best!
This is an impressively faithful recreation of the game. Would you be opposed to, later on in development, structuring it in a way where navigating Kattelox is Open-World/seamless without loading screens? If done correctly, who knows? Maybe you can expand it later to include MML2's islands as a sort of "Both Games in One Package" deal. That would require upgrading assets, but my friends and I've always wanted to fly the Flutter between islands myself when I was growing up. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to keep the level layouts identical, just trading load zones for openable doors. That would probably be the best way to keep progession structure in check. Remove the walls entirely, and I don't know how you'd stop a player from getting to late-gane areas far too soon. I would try something like this myself, but I know I lack the talent, and it would probably just lead me to asking for your asset files anyway, onluy for them to collect dust on my hard drive. XD Hey, even if you can't get it done, I'm sure the community would go nuts over an "RPG-Maker" style MegaMan Legends engine with dialogue systems/mechanics structured., even if it weren't free.
After I finish Ocean Tower, I am going to be purely working on my own ideas. Since it looks so similar, I see no reason to recreate the rest of the game as it would basically be a wide screen mod or something haha! However, I do plan on releasing my source code when I get it to a place I am happy with and anyone can do whatever they see fit with it! If someone wishes to plop all of the main locations in one Unity scene, they could.
@@WarmLoafOfBread1That's the beauty of Unity though - start off with a one to one recreation, get everything nice and tiled up, then replace the OG textures with higher res replacements, and subsurface some models to make em smoother. But that's just me personally speculating on what I'd do. I'm looking forward to seeing this project go open source. How did you copy the assets over, by the way? Are the old formats Unity compatible?
@@Zuon94 I am going for the old PS1 look of the game, so trying to revamp old textures or models is not my route, but if anyone wants to, they could :) I am just making new models and textures that look like they were from MML1. The assets were extracted from the game using tools from mml.dashgl.com/. I then use Blender to export to FBX and then into Unity. There are also a plethora of other people who have helped with this process and I will credit all of them when my demo releases.
Insanely impressive stuff, how are you getting the exact animations? I really wish I could help but the most I'd be good for would be modelling if you need any models remade
Thanks! I use mml.dashgl.com/ to rip assets from MML. This includes animations, textures, models, etc. It is quite amazing and the creator, Kion, is amazing for making it! If you are willing to create some models, that would be awesome! I could use all the help I can get in creating new things.
Of course you would get a lot of attention. This game desperately needs some TLC, and helping modernize it in a way that stays true, and is faithful in many ways to the original is something fans have wanted for a long, long time.
I first recreated them in Blender using textures that I found and then imported the whole model into Unity but then I found that some users already recreated the different areas of Ocean Tower and I just used those. The Mega Man Legends Station has helped alot with pointing me in the right direction for assets and what not.
When this source port is done, will I be able to put the Playstation MML1 disc in the computer's disc drive and copy the game's content files off of it for the port to use, or will they need to come from another source?
th-cam.com/video/MhClwvbBcMg/w-d-xo.html Should've shown that "nightmare" scene for a bit longer 😅. That aside, what approach did you end up implementing for the horde overlap issue? Doesn't look like they're stacking on top each other that much anymore. Looking good BTW, keep it up!
I have not gotten around to that yet, actually. They didn't bunch up as I cut the scene short haha! I currently have the checks in place to check for other "large reaverbots" nearby, just they do nothing with that knowledge yet. I am going to have smaller reavers move out of the way (or get pushed by) larger ones.
@@WarmLoafOfBread1 Sneaky edits 😂. Would love to see more variations on enemy types and sizes, let's see how hectic it'll get when there's more size variations on the horde. Good work on the cutscenes, keep it up! 👍
PLEASE FINISH THIS! This is literally my favorite childhood game of my childhood!
This looks phenomenal. Makes me really happy to know there's a small but dedicated Legends fanbase still out there.
Great progress dude. Subscribed.
Single handedly keeping the MML dream alive, awesome
LOAF IS BACK! I was so excited to see this on my feed!
This is it, you are the chosen one, the one that will bring MML3 back to life. Your work is amazing man, keep it up!
that cutscene is amazing!!!! its coming so far along, I cant wait for a demo
Thousand Blessings your way.
To do all of this just cause. Brings hope to my heart. Art that's loved never dies!

This a amazing. I believe id CAPCOM decides to revive MML3 project should have this old PS1 aesthetic
Very nice. Also that Reaverbot Army composed of the tutorial boss is pretty funny.
This is fantastic and faithful so far! I can’t wait for this project to be completed in the future! ^^
Love the redone slide animation at the end of the cutscene, looks very smooth
Super excited for the demo man, keep up the great work!
PLEASE continue this, absolute top tier childhood game and seeing you remake it is heartwarming and exciting to say the least, keep it up!
This is amazing. Looks really good. Keep up the hard work.
Well of course we're interested in this, especially since Capcom won't step up and put out more Legends titles.
Also, new format for the video is great as well!
So cool! I'd love to see more MML style games in the world, hopefully when you've got a good base you'll consider selling it as a template project on the unity store.
Lessgooo, any progress is progress, and looking dope, nonetheless......also I want a mode where you fight all those bots at 2:18...
Seriously this game is what megaman should have been something just right about how they give megaman more personality and a lighthearted story
Excellent job dude! Really love where this is going😃
And remember, take all the time you need!
The cutscene looks tremendous. Nice work!
"...lately my free time has not been free..." - I feel that!
Love to see the progress and can't wait for the next update!

Camera shake! That is something I forgot! It was on my list of things to do and I never got around to it lol.
Thanks for the reminder 🙂
Excited to try this out!

You've earned a Sub today. I hope to see this project come to fruition
comment for the youtube algorithm, hope to see the full release of this. I'm sure it won't be anytime soon but excited for it nonetheless

Glad to see this still going! Hope to play this some day

Thanks! I actually did throw the camera on megaman's head once and it didnt look terrible. With some tweaking, it wouldn't be terrible, so probably!
Man, that cutscene looks so good! Your work is amazing, keep it up!
Keep doing what you're doing, dude! I really cant wait to try this out. is this strictly keyboard input or will there be controller compatibility?
Thanks! I currently use a N64 controller so yes, there will be controller compatibility :) (keyboard also works if you dont have a controller)
Amazing work dude! It keeps getting better and better and I really appreciate all the effort you put into this. I'm looking forward to seeing how this project evolves, and I wish you the best!

Hey Loaf, I was curious. Did you have to recreate the worlds in Unity, or was there a way to port them over?

This is all done within Unity and all of the required files will be included in the download, so nothing else will be needed other than the installer

He is in a test room that I created. The black void that surrounds him is quite intimidating 😅
Do you have a discord? I have some experience with image editing maybe theres something I can do to help out
