    Good video I got a 20 years old A2 tdi three days ago and after I had 50+ vehicles I can say is one of the best I ever had. Still today looks nice and cute and much better than newer model city cars. Awesome

    Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for.. I just need to flip the back seats as far forward as possible, and I basically have a van!

    Another great video James. Very helpful to any owner and very diligent advice with the airbag release. Loving these DIY updates and the narrative and camera work, which makes things very clear.

      Thanks Darren, next up is the interior clean. Any tips for drying out once I've completed a Wet Vac?

      I confess I've never done a thorough clean like this before mate. I did have to dry the car out once as a result of leaking rear vents - easily done by removing the rear carpet and hanging it over the washing line. If doing door cards etc, stripping the car isn't a quick option. Doors open would be an obvious one, but this isn't overly practical at this time of year, nor warm enough to expedite drying either. If you have a dehumidifier, I'd be tempted to use this. Place it centrally in the car and run an extension lead through the rear tailgate. If you drop the rear hatch gently, you can lock the car without it squashing the cable.

      Glad to help James and thanks for the comment. The video is shot in 4k so come back later and it should be in a higher resolution which should help more.

    Thanks. Very helpful. Took the rear seats out yesterday, much easier than expected. However the left hand rear seat seems seized in its folded position. This is both when it's in and out of the car. Are you aware of any trick to unfold it? I've considered brute force although I wouldn't want to break anything and in any case I don't know if I have enough brute force to deploy! I've considered WD40 but I'm not sure what I'd be lubricating and in any case I don't want to slosh it around the upholstery unless I have to. Any thoughts? Cheers!

      Hi Steve, I would suggest that you use your knee on the leading edge (headrest side) and push down whilst pulling the handle up at the rear. It is tricky on your own, but I have found this to work in exactly that situation.

    This was easy to follow and I whipped them out without a problem. When I put them back in, the bench part has gone in just fine, but the seat back is utterly stuck upright and I cant move it forward or back. It's just locked in place, just slightly out of the housing. Any advice?

  • @Cheeso99

    May right rear back seat is not clicking into position anymore. The tube, that is supposed to cover the little steel balls and hold them inside is staying lifted up. Thus trying to connect the seat to the floor it won't do. Do you have any idea how to fix that? Do I need to replace the whole mechanism is there any trick? Thanks a lot for your helpful videos. I am owning the a2 for only two weeks now.

      Hi Stefan, I have had this issue before (or similar) and what worked for me was to put my knee on the seat whilst pushing it down into place, which pulling the handle at the rear, this seemed to help in my case.

    hello, I like all your videos super, I have such a question I also have a2 and I have a problem I have the key and the central lock does not work to unlock the car and when I put the clamp on the battery the alarm starts to sound loud, what to do

      Have you checked out my other video on how to reset your key when the battery is flat. Also ensure that you have enough power in the battery. Simply putting the key in the ignition if it's the right key should also work. th-cam.com/video/TddFyQJMtuk/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks Juan, I don't have an A7 to try this on. I have found the follow video for an A6 (which the A7 is based on) and if you go to 11mins 30 secs on the video you will see the removal of the bolt, it looks the same as the A2 multi-spline socket. Hope that helps

    The A2 must have the cleverest rear seats ever. 4 levels of rear storage, very clever.
    On cars with seat airbags isn't it required to disconnect the battery ?

    My A2 has a missing "XZN M8" bolt on the passenger side.. considering swapping them all out for M8 Allen head bolts.. is there anything else 'special' about the XZN bolts?

    Greetings from Romania!! I just bought an Audi A2, I am myself an Audi fan, having two more Audi A4's, now...if there are plenty TH-cam videos for A4 stuff...I think that you have the most videos for A2 removal/repairing things. Now as new Audi A2 owner and that I really take care of my cars, I have some questions for you 🙂:
    - The car buttons... basically every button in the car is now white, I know that there are stickers for these, but I am looking for a more permanent solution;
    - The plastic general condition in the car is bad...looks like the paint took of, anny suggestions for how to restore them?
    - What are the well known problems for these models? I have the 1.4 petrol BBY.
    Thank you for your time, looking forward for your answers.

    • @mrbroons
      @mrbroons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Welcome to my channel. So... The buttons are called “soft touch” and basically rub off as you have seen. The earlier cars have “hard touch” buttons and controls and a re a direct swap. If you can’t find these they are a permanent fix. There is a minor colour difference between them but they will never rub off. The plastic condition is the same issue. Look for parts from older A2s to fix. Pre 2002 cars. The BBY has more problems than the AUA that came before it. Stuck valves, clogged egr and air flow meter and oil consumption. I would clean out the air system first and egr. Also they are very picky with coil packs. If there are funny issues then replace with genuine Bosch parts. Thermostats and sensors also wear. If you have poor starting take off and clean the starter motor earth strap. I show the location in my lates my video. Please take a look at all my videos and let me know if you have any other questions. Please remember to subscribe and hit the bell icon and spread the word. I’m hoping to get to 1000 subscribers. MrB

      @@mrbroons Thank you for the quick response, I know have more questions since I drove the car for a few days:
      - the car starts roughly when the engine is cold even if the overnight temp is above 10°C,
      - the climate control seems to have a mind of his own like it doesn't know the interior temp, and it feels like it's never blowing hot air, only cold.
      - yesterday the brake check appeard, and now the ABS light stays on, the brake pads and disc looks good, and the car brakes good to.
      Hope you have time to answer this questions too.

      Ok. Let’s have a look. Do you have VCDS? VAG COM. If not get a cheap scanner and scan the car for faults. Then we can look at some of the issues for you. Cheers.

      00600 - potentiometer on positioning motor for temperature flap (g92);
      01273 - fresh air blower (v2) 17-10 - control difference - intermittent.

      I have translated to English. Apologies if the translation is wrong. You asked if there is a sign on the dash when the hood is open? Do you mean the engine cover (bonnet) or tailgate (boot). If you mean the bonnet then I don’t think there is a sign on the dash but the car will not lock. If you mean the boot then it will appear on the dash if you have DIS but not otherwise. Hope this helps. If you are struggling send me a video of what you mean and I’ll try and help more. Happy New Year from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
