Hey Boston by rails. I am back! I used to be the creator of AJ Railfan 2. Now I am back. I remember the 5:10 when the MBTA locomotive played Industry Baby
A few months ago I said in the comments of this video that MBTA needs Bombardier Multilevels and new electrified lines. Well now I have a plan or general idea: -The Providence/Stoughton gets the last bits and pieces it needs -The Franklin Line via the NEC gets fully electrified with overhead wires -The Framingham/Worcester gets fully electrified with overhead wires -The maintenance facility gets electrified The Fairmount and Needham Lines get converted to Subway operation and get electrified with third rail. The Needham Line would be an extension of the Orange Line This would allow for less trains shortages and the scrapping of single level coaches and the older locomotives. Any remaining single level cars would become bike cars. How do you think it sounds?
Thats so funny we think the same way. The other day i was talking about this exact thing with a friend. I totally agree with the whole needham line thing, and to add onto that, the greenline could theoretically extend to needham via the old bay colony railroad right of way in newton upper falls. Love those ideas!
@@OzPoohProductions They are coaches equipped with driving cabs so the driver can operate the train in the other direction without having to turn the train around
very odd train sets multilevel cars mixed with single level cars im shocked they haven't gone with electric engines especially on the lines shared with amtrak
Those are on the back of every downeaster train. They are called NPCUs and are the shells of former F40s and turned into baggage cars and also have no engines. There is one on the downeaster in amtraks old phase 3 paint.
It has been a couple months, but now I wanna say the next part of my plan to improve MBTA commuter rail: The north-south rail link will be built To the north, The Rockport and Lowell lines will be electrified It will be new through running New Dual-Mode Locos for lines not fully electrified A new station in downtown Boston to replace south and north stations After all these are done there will be no more fundamental divide between commuter rail systems in Boston!
Gaby that thing looks familiar it kind of does but bet it does Gabby does the train let’s go on board Michael no hey wait for us know OK Gabby that train is going all the way to Lowell we’re going to Boston brother
@@BostonByRails i've seen a lot of locomotive testing, etc. on the worcester line. recently about half a week ago, i saw a train with one MBTA worker car, 2 EMD F40PH's on the end, and one oil tanker in the middle.
MaktoubTube lucky! Thats the wash train they run up there every saturday between mbta trains 1507 and 1509. Im planning on seeing it soon! Stay tuned for a vid about it!!

Why? So the MBTA could further sink into the financial crisis its in and have the taxpayers pay to bail them out? It might look bad to you that the MBTA runs diesel but it makes perfect sense fiscally, and thats all that matters.
@@mbrproductions160 Sounds like you don’t care about the environment. I’ve heard that they’re not very good with maintenance and electrification could handle that. It can solve other problems as well. It will also be cheaper and easier to run and maintain. It will also allow for the overall speed to go from 79 mph to 100 or 110 mph
@@transitcaptain what about biofuels or battery-electrics? Even standard diesels are starting to burn cleaner and cleaner with each new generation. Putting up wildly expensive wires all over a near 400 mile rail network is not the only way to help the environment, and I can’t see how electrification will help them with maintenance if they do a bad job at it anyway, if the T does a bad job maintaining its trains, the trains’ reliably will plummet and they will run like trash regardless of who built them and what power source they run on. The MBTA needs to focus more on its fiscal and financial situation rather than continuously expanding under these threatening circumstances (which is what threw it further into this mess in the first place)
@@mbrproductions160 I only proposed three lines for electrification Franklin, Providence/Stoughton, Framingham/Worcester. There are other ways, but electrification will really suit MBTA, as they have a problem with the air at Back Bay AND Amtrak’s 25 Kv power system is in place. The MBTA won’t screw up maintenance of electric trains because they’re easier to maintain. Or maybe they will screw it up but not as badly.
