Great stuff, man. I've been to the British Museum twice this week but I'm going again today, and once again I think I'll end up spending most of my time in the Assyrian section. What historical treasures!

thank god for museums like BM that actually saved tons of treasures like this one and EVERYBODY can see it for free. Usually those types of invaluable treasure are demolished to peaces so those one who had found them can sell them to more ppl for more money. It is sad that larger part of world treasures is devastated in that way....

Such Masters of not only war, but Art, Innovation, Story telling, Science, Astrology, man you name it, our ancestors Mastered it, & before any smart-ass starts talkin about how "If the Assyrians were Masters, why did Assyria fall?", here's a pre-answer to that:
It took 4 Nations & their Armies to Destroy Assyria. Those Nations were The Babylonians (Same Ashurian Race!), The Medians (Iranian type people), The Persians, & the Scythians (People from N. E. of Armenia, possibly Ancient Russians?)

The fall of Nineveh shocked the ancient world. The Jewish prophet Nahum described the Median armies advancing to the city that had once ruled the Near East.
    An attacker advances against you,Nineveh.[...]
The shields of his soldiers are red
the warriors are clad in scarlet.
The metal on the chariots flashes
    on the day they are made ready;
the spears of pine are brandished.
The chariots storm through the streets,
rushing back and forth through the squares.
    They look like flaming

@123rezo321 Man, didn't I explain that already in my 1st post? Read it again "Tough Guy", because the answer to your question is already in there! I knew someone would ask this stupid question, that's why I Pre-Answered it.
Another thing, try finding another nation that ruled for nearly 2000 years, like my ancestors did!
Only Romans come close at nearly 1000 years, but I guess for people like you, this is not enough of an accomplishment.

The Gutians were also evidently kin of the Kassites, as Saba Dara notes, "The Babylonian army was eventually defeated by a combined force of Gutium and their kinsmen, the Kashshu (Kas-Pi) or Kassites." (Dara 2000) The Kassites have long been identified as Iranoid.
Moreover, in an entire book, scholar Hennerbichler links the Kurds with the Gutians (Hennerbichler 2004, p.183-184)

As result, Rawlinson was surprised during his research to discover that the founders of the Mesopotamian civilization were of Kushite origin. He made it clear that the Semitic speakers of Akkad and the non-Semitic speakers of Sumer were both Black or Negro people who called themselves sag-gig-ga “Black Heads”. In Rawlinson’s day the Sumerian people were recognized as Akkadian or Chaldean, while the Semitic speaking blacks were called Assyrians.

The Subarians and Gutians were also referred to as "namrum", a term generally identified by Sumerologists with "fair-complexioned." Refuting the view that namrum did not denote skin colour, Gelb notes, "For this interpretation of namrum I can find no evidence in Akkadian literature ... It would seem that Speiser's and Ungnad's reaction against the normal interpretation of namrum as 'light (-colored)' was caused by their assumption that Hurrians or Subarians belonged to the Armenoid race,

there are numerous historical records refering to the above mentioned peoples as a whole. One of the first mentions in historical records, appears in cuneiform writings from the Sumerians 3,000 BC, who referred to the "land of the Karda] in Taurus-Zagros mountains of the northern and northeastern parts of Mesopotamia,The area was referred to as the land of the "Karda" or "Qarduchi" and the land of the "Guti" or "Gutium". These are described as being the same people only differing in tribal name

coalition suffered 75 aircraft losses , 44 of which were the result of Iraqi action.
Two of these losses are the result of aircraft colliding with the ground while evading Iraqi ground fired weapons. One of these losses is a confirmed air-air victory. from wikipedia .

So self-evident are the connections between the Goths &Gutians that the very person who discovered the existence of the Gutian Dynasty, Prof. Scheil, noted this remarkable fact:This national or tribal name of Guti, the name ofThe Guti Troops (who) carried off the royalty" of the Mesopotamian empire by their conquest of Erech the imperial capital about 2495 BCwas recognized as obviously suggesting 'Goths' by Prof. Scheil, when he announced in 1911 his discovery of the Guti Dynasty in Mesopotamia

The very first mention of the Kurds in history was about 3,000 BC, under the name Gutium, as they fought the Summerians(Spieser). Later around 800 BC, the Indo-European Median tribes settled in the Zagros mountain region and coalesced with the Gutiums, and thus the modern Kurds speak from as Aryan language (Morris). The Kurds are mentioned by Xenaphon, a Greek mercenary, as he retreated from Persia with ten thousand men in 401 BC, he says of the Kurds

The Babylonians called these people "Gardu" and "Qarda". In neighbouring area of Assyria, they were "Qurti" or "Guti". When the Greeks entered the territory, they referred to these people as either "Kardukh", "Carduchi", "Gordukh", Kyrti(oi), Romans as Cyrti. The Armenians called the Kurds "Gortukh" or "Gortai-kh" and the Persians knew them as "Gord" or "Kord". In the Syriac, Hebrew and Chaldean languages they were, respectively, "Qardu", "Kurdaye" and "Qurdaye

Have you seen how Assyrians have acted as well? You're not exactly innocent. Both sides need to calm down and start thinking with their brains instead of emotions. And I never claimed to be loving Ashur, I said I have respect for the Ashurian people, and their land Ashur, which have mostly been under our control lately, and I would have no objections to let Assyrians have their independent Ashur in Nineveh for instance or Ankawa, wherever you guys make up a majority. Stop this nonsense man.

The earliest written evidence for an Indo-Aryan language is found not in India, but in Kurdistan (northern Syria) in Hittite records regarding one of their neighbors, the Hurrian-speaking Mitanni. In a treaty with the Hittites, the king of Mitanni, after swearing by a series of Hurrian gods, swears by the gods Mitrašil, Uruvanaššil, Indara,&Našatianna, who correspond to the Vedic gods Mitra,Varuṇa, Indra,& Nāsatya (Aśvin)Contemporary equestrian terminology, as recorded in a horse-training manual

The kingdom of Mushku is now believed to have brought about the final downfall of the Hittites in Anatolia. Their name survives in the city of Mush/Mus in north-central Kurdistan of Turkey. The Subaru who operated from the areas north of modern Arbil in central Kurdistan have left their name in the populous and historic Kurdish tribal confederacy of Zubari, who still inhabit the areas north of Arbil." The Southwestern, or Southern, Semitic languages include (1) the South Arabian languages, (2) Arabic and (3) the Ethiopian languages. The South Arabian languages consist of the languages of ancient inscriptions, on the one hand, and of living vernacular languages in present-day Yemen and Oma,on the otherThe monumental forms of the South Arabian alphabet were derived from Canaanite consonant script, brought to the area around 1300 BC. South Arabian inscriptions consist of short epitaphs, promises

Not only was Gutium located within the modern Kurdistan. The very name 'Kurd' itself has been viewed by scholars as being merely a corruption of the ancient Iranic word 'Guti'. Thus, Prof. Howorth concurs with the derivation of Kurdistan from Gutium, and identifies the ancient Babylonian term for Kurds,'Quradu,' with Guti':
The land of Guti answers in substance, and perhaps also in name, to the modern Kurdistan. According to Sayce the name Kurd is derived from the Babylonian quradu, a warrior,
